Options sheet for the BMW M2 leaks

The same folks over at the 2addicts forum that brought us preliminary specs on the BMW M2 have apparently gotten their hands on the option sheet for what will be the littlest M. Reports indicate 365 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque from turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-six, working through either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch. Other features on the car won't be so replete with choice. According to the options sheet provided by a forum member there's only one wheel style available, 19-inch black numbers, said to be the black light alloy double spoke wheels that can be specced on the M4. There's a parking sensor fitted to the rear, but no sensor option for the front of the car. Navigation Pro and carbon interior inserts are standard, as is the Shadowline black exterior trim, which swaps out chrome trim around the windows and other places for muted black. Among the options will be power heated seats, a rearview camera, adaptive headlights, an upgraded Harman Kardon stereo, and a five-year warranty. Those adaptive headlights are xenon; LED headlights aren't available. Neither is a carbon fiber roof. But there will be a moonroof option, BMW's Electronic Damper Control, and proper M seats by the looks of it - the coupe will get M235i seats as standard. Take this news with some salt - the order information comes from a Belgian member who ordered his Euro-spec car, so US option mileage might vary. Related Video:

BMW i3 wait list grows to six months

This could make one real expensive decision a little easier to make. The latest official word is that BMW remains undecided if or when it will expand its sub-brand of i plug-in vehicles beyond the i3 and i8, but the i3 city EV has certainly struck a chord in Europe. Citing BMW executive Ian Robertson, Automotive News Europe reports that the German automaker is running a six-month wait list for the i3, which started sales in Europe in November. Bimmer has taken about 11,000 orders globally, and about 1,200 of those are from the US, where the car will debut in May. BMW executive Harald Krueger recently said that the German automaker will hold off on making plans to broaden the i sub-brand until more sales results come in. That said, BMW has trademarked all of the single-digit "i" names from i1 through i9, so should these EVs remain popular, BMW has room to grow. We won't be surprised if we do see more vehicles, since BMW North America chief Ludwig Willisch is already on record as saying the US demand for the i3 will likely exceed supply this year. 2014 BMW M235i is your Diet M4

Alongside its big brothers, the M3 and M4, the new M235i was rolled out by BMW at the Detroit Auto Show today as the sportiest member of the 2 Series range. The sharp two-door is the replacement for the current 1 Series, meaning the M235i is more or less the equivalent of the old 135is. Underhood sits BMW's venerable 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, complete with 322 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Power is, naturally, sent to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, allowing the M235i to hit 62 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds when optioned with the automatic. Prices start at $43,100, meaning the M235i should give the $47,450 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG a real challenge in terms of cluck for the buck, provided a second set of doors isn't needed.
