Up for bid is my 2002 Alpine White III E39 M5. 53,700miles, with approx 450hp. Let me say, aside from a few easily fixable blemishes, this car is immaculate!! I am the 3rd and proud owner of this car. I am currently a Master Tech at my local BMW dealer. This M5 was traded in to our dealer in 2012. Once I saw I had to have it. Before that could happen, I had to thoroughly inspect this car in and out. The skin and bracket were professionally replaced. No airbags deployed and there was no structural damage. Just cosmetic. After all that, the carfax still values it $1200 more than bluebook due to the great veh history. I wanted to disclose this before I got to the good stuff. Maintenance and Repairs: New tstat, valve cover gaskets replaced (no fluid leaks), new power steering pump and steering box. Brake flush and cooling system flush have been performed. All oil changes done at 5k mile intervals and I recommend staying on that schedule. Front brakes at 6mm, rear at 8mm. Serviced transmission and differential. Transmission shifts as good and smooth as it did new.

European jury picks finalists for 2015 Car of the Year
Tue, Dec 16 2014There are countless Car of the Year awards handed out each year, and naturally, Europe has its own way of doing things. Every year, a panel of jurists representing seven publications in seven different languages and seven different countries get together to name their joint Car of the Year. The panel released a list of 32 candidates back in July, and it has now whittled that list down to seven nominees. The list consists of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the Citroen C4 Cactus (shown), the Ford Mondeo, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Nissan Qashqai, the Renault Twingo and the Volkswagen Passat. Of those seven, only two are available in the US – those being the Mondeo (sold Stateside as the Fusion) and the C-Class. The Passat is an entirely different model in North America, the Qashqai isn't offered here, Citroen and Renault don't even participate in our market and the BMW 2 Series is represented here only by the completely different coupe and convertible. Expect the one and only recipient of the 2015 Car of the Year award to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, and while you're waiting, you can place your guesses for the eventual winner in Comments. NHTSA gives okay for three automakers to skirt tire-related recalls
Thu, 25 Jul 2013BMW, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz are all going to avoid small recalls, after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued petitions for "findings of inconsequential noncompliance" to the three manufacturers, according to Tire Business. Basically, the petitions allow the brands to avoid recalls for some very, very minor issues.
BMW had tire placards on 364 X6 M CUVs that stated the car could only handle four passengers, when in reality it had room for three in the back. Actual plausibility of fitting three real humans in the slope-roofed Bimmer aside, the Munich-based manufacturer argued it was inconsequential, as the placards were correct regardless of the number of passengers.
Honda's case focused on 212 2011 and 2012 Acura TSX sedans equipped with 18-inch wheels. The TPMS systems on these cars were set for 17-inch wheels, rather than the larger hoops, but even with the lower settings, the tires maintain adequate load capacity.
