Offered for sale is an absolutely immaculate, one owner 2006 BMW M5 with only 23k original miles, finished in ever ominous Black Sapphire Metallic over Black leather. Purchased new by the CEO of one of the world's largest company's, the car was primarily used as a daily driver for the few months out of the year that he spent at his vacation home here in Montecito. Always garaged and babied, always serviced by the dealership this is undoubtedly one of the nicest E60 M5s on the market, only being sold to make way for a new Aston Martin.

The car's Sapphire Black finish is absolutely stunning, the best color selection to cloak Chris Bangle's ceaselessly elegant yet masculinely aggressive lines. Marred only by a handful of rock chips commensurate with any 20k mile car, the finish is completely original with no accidents to speak of. Consequently all of the panel fits and gaps are factory perfect and the body is free of any dings or dents. The car's interior is equally flawless, showing virtually no wear to the seats, interior panels, suede headliner or carpets. The owner purchases all of his cars completely loaded with options and everything works exactly as it should. This extends to the car's mechanicals, which have been religiously tended to by the local BMW dealership to ensure the M5's truly amazing performance. One of the E60's biggest improvements over the preceding E39 is that the car can in fact drive conservatively if that's the driver's wish. But when the settings are changed in the iDrive, the E60 M5 becomes a brute, just barely contained by its wildly over-engineered leash. It's hard not to grin when you hear the throaty, precise rumble from the monstrous V10, feel your neck snap back when you depress the gas pedal and hold on for dear life as the car rockets from a stop, the optional SMG transmission crisply working its way through each of the seven gears. Not surprisingly, the handling and brakes are also truly impressive, BMW continuing to set the bench mark for the modern sports sedan.

Whether you're specifically in the market for an E60 M5 or just looking for an affordable supercar for your weekly jaunt to the grocery store, this car deserves your serious consideration. It's as close to showroom as you'll find and needs nothing but a new owner. Please bid accordingly.

We want this car to go to a great home, so please feel free to email me or give us a call at (805) 202-4557 if you have any additional questions. You can also visit us online at goodmanreed.

GOODMAN REED MOTORCARS

While I have a California dealer license, I’m not your typical dealer. I’ve always had an appreciation for classic and sports cars and have always bought and sold them to create a small revolving personal collection which has afforded me the opportunity of meeting many other interesting enthusiasts, including the owner of this M5. As such, this is a consignment car and can be seen by appointment at my warehouse in Santa Barbara. I try to give accurate descriptions of the cars I’m selling, but I’m not an expert and I encourage and am happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms my ability to make sales with other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.

For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction's end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction's end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however I'd be more than happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction's end. Thanks for your interest.

BMW 1 Series GT spied in 7-seat trim

Mon, 20 May 2013

As BMW prepares to introduce its first-ever front-wheel drive car, the upcoming 1 Series GT, it looks like there will be at least two versions of the car. A conventional-looking hatchback was spotted testing late last year, but now we see an extended-length version in order to accommodate a third row of seats.
Judging by these spy shots, this 1 Series GT prototype has received an extended wheelbase, larger rear doors and more upright D-pillars compared to our previous spy shots (show in the gallery below) all with the aim of creating additional passenger and cargo space. Like the smaller 1 Series GT, this longer model would likely carry over the same powertrain options, which are expected to consist of three- and four-cylinder engines, a hybrid system and the choice of front- or all-wheel drive. The 1 Series GT could make its debut this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but we might have to wait until next year to see the people mover.

Best car infotainment systems of 2022

Wed, Jul 20 2022

Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried them all what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. Some prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based with a simplistic user interface. Others may prefer a non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some folks prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best overall: UConnect — Various Stellantis products If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. Both UConnect 4 and the latest UConnect 5 software are included in this praise, too. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu. We like the radio/media interface — itÂ’s super easy to swap stations or sources. The menu structure is easy to grasp, and of course both Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are available if you want them. UConnect 5 is a big visual improvement over UConnect 4, but thankfully it retains the same ease of use as the outgoing system. WeÂ’ll also point out that Stellantis is able to adapt UConnect to different screen shapes and sizes with great success — it works stunningly well in the vertical 12-inch screen of the Ram.

BMW shows up-armored X5 concept and we can't get near it

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

BMW has brought a slightly different concept vehicle to the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Rather than something that foreshadows a future product or a new design direction, the Munich-based manufacturer has brought an X5 that's designed to be shot at. It's called the Concept X5 Security Plus. The Concept X5 name is a bit misleading, though. It's based on the 2014 X5, while BMW already builds an armored CUV, called the X5 Security. The concept tag has to do with the "Security Plus" part.
Engineered to be compliant with VR6 security standards - the current X5 Security is for VR4 standards - the Concept X5 will quite happily shrug off direct attacks from an AK-47. Thanks to sealed joints, high-strength steel moldings, high-performance steel body panels and special, polycarbonate-coated security glass, Kalashnikov's finest, whether used as a firearm or as a melee weapon, would be useless against this X5.
Built alongside the standard X5 in BMW's Spartanburg, SC factory, the X5 is shipped to a BMW facility in Toluca, Mexico for installation of the armor and security features. The company claims this delivers a more thoroughly engineered protective solution than aftermarket retrofitting.
