2003 BMW E39 M5 Silver on Black Luxury Interior
If you're looking at this, I probably don't have to tell you much about this car or how iconic it is... you already know. No one else would click on a 11 year old BMW selling for close to 30k. You also already know by now that these cars are valued for whatever someone is willing to pay because they (E39) are hands down, the best M5 ever made and arguablly one of the best cars ever made and BMW isn't making anymore of them (and hasn't since 2003). That being said... this is an molested, solid example of the last of the E39s. Mechanically, there are no issues, clutch was replaced (45k) and it was just serviced by Autobahn Motors (Park Ave, NYC). Everything is stock with brand new rubber... also included are the original Style 65 wheels in excellent condition. Interior is in very good condition with no tears but some scuffs that just need a good leather treatment. Body is solid with a few dings but nothing glaring. It has a clean Carfax but I did notice after buying it that the front pass side quarter was replaced and not hung exactly right (lines are off a bit, no one else notices but I know it's there). I researched the car further through a local Police Department and found that it was involved in a minor rear end accident and no insurance claim was filed. I had the car gone over with a fine tooth comb and was told it was super solid and repaired correctly (minus the hanging of the quarter)... just an FYI. Other imperfections are the pixels on the odometer are a little off and the rearview mirror is cloudy, both common problems. The car has the upgraded audio and I put in the Aux adapter for iPhone/Ipod/mp3 ect... This M5 runs amazing, has been well cared for throughout it's life and is super strong. There are only 2 others 03 M5s in the country with this color combo and less mileage that I have found... one is going for close to 60k. Feel free to email me with questions and thanks for looking. |

Fore! Pro golfers race BMW i8 against a golf cart
Sat, Jun 28 2014You wouldn't think a couple of pro golfers racing a golf cart along a nice green course would get the blood pumping. But throw in a BMW i8 plug-in hybrid and things get at least a little more interesting. At least, that's what the German automaker is hoping for. Bimmer is swinging big with a cross-promotional video featuring two pairs of golfers racing plug-in vehicles at the 2014 BMW International Open golf tournament in Koln, Germany. Two of the golfers take your run-of-the-mill golf cart while the other two take a slightly more powerful BMW i8, with the goal to get to the course's "halfway house" first. The race, among other things, sends jackrabbits scurrying and shows off the i8's really cool doors and racy styling. The odd part – "spoiler" alert – is that the golf cart wins the race by taking a short cut through the course despite the fact that the i8 pairs a 231-horsepower turbocharged engine with a 131-horsepower electric motor. It's probably not exactly the message of high-speed performance BMW wants to convey but it would raise eyebrows if this weren't all a silly stunt. Check out the three-minute video below and then read our i8 First Drive impressions here.
2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe images leak out
Fri, 14 Jun 2013Because embargoes were apparently made to be broken, images of the 2014 BMW 4 Series coupe have leaked onto the Internet ahead of the car's official debut thanks to Car Design News' Facebook page. As you'll recall, the 4 Series is the replacement for the outgoing 3 Series coupe, its nomenclature falling in line with the rest of BMW's lineup, where coupes and convertibles will be set apart from their sedan counterparts by one number.
As we can see in the photos, the 4 Series takes a lot of its design cues from the 3 Series on which it is based, but there's a lot more in the way of attractive body sculpting, and this production model stays true to the original 4 Series Coupe Concept that we saw at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
We don't have official details to divulge just yet, but we can discern from the photos that the range-topping coupe will be the 435i model, likely powered by BMW's turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six from the 335i. There will no doubt be a 428i model with a 2.0-liter turbo-four underhood, and we expect BMW to offer its xDrive all-wheel-drive system on both models. Much like the 3 Series, a variety of trim levels will be on offer, including a top-spec M Sport trim that you can see painted in Estoril Blue here.
Is BMW ready to increase i8 production?
Fri, Nov 21 2014The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid is really fast. But the car is getting to customers really slowly. The German automaker might be doing something about that. Bimmer executive Ian Robertson, speaking with reports at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, commented on the high demand for the super-PHEV and said the company may step up production in Germany, Automotive News Europe says. That's because the wait list for the i8 is approaching 18 months in some global markets. And Robertson would like to get that timeframe down to about six months. No details were disclosed about how fast the i8 is being produced or how much faster that production rate may get. The i8, which retails for about $135,000, started sales in Europe in June and in the US two months later. As for the smaller, slower i3 electric vehicle, BMW is making about 2,000 units a month, and wait lists are down to about four months. Part of the reason for that is because BMW shifted distribution rates for that model towards the US to meet higher-than-expected demand from stateside consumers and slow German sales. Through the end of October in the US, BMW had sold almost 4,300 i3 vehicles and 271 i8 models, including 204 i8 units last month alone.
