See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"small body dings, some scratches in rear leather seat"

HISTORY: I purchased the car from local BMW dealer in 2007 with 46,358 miles. Documented 1 owner trade in with a copy of original title as sold in Little Rock April 2000. BODY CONDITION: There are a few door dings and a small crack in the front spoiler.  I have not had any thing touched up or concealed after 6 years of hobby use. I do drive it and If you want it near perfect $500 to $1,000 with a top paint and body guy that knows how to blend panels should do it. I think a buyer would prefer to see the all original paint to know what he is buying. There are two exceptions. Someone recently pointed out that the M5 emblem is too high on the decklid so I checked out the rear of the car super closely and discovered (after 6 years of ownership) that the decklid has been repainted. The only way I could tell (because the paint job is a perfect match) is that the barcode behind the license plate is painted over. The paint work is so good I suspect the vertical portion was blended in and the top portion is original. I have no idea why and suspect it was for a minor dent or scratch. There is absolutely no evidence of any damage. The hairline split in the front spoiler was there when I bought it and I had it repaired and the front spoiler only repainted the first month I owned the car. He was not a great choice and the job he did has just been OK, but we are talking spoiler only here and the crack reappeared when I nudged a curb one day last year. This is only seen on close inspection. MECHANICALS: Most work performed at dealership except recent suspension work by a certified BMW independent shop. I did not even know these existed until this one opened by a certified  "defector" tech from the local dealership. The only issues with this car is the SES light is on and has been professionally diagnosed (coded) from both the local dealership as well as the independent as cold air secondary port contamination. I have recently began using KB44 gas additive (look it up on the internet) in conjunction with a strict no ethanol 92 octane gas diet. Aftyer only 2 tanks the SES light went off for most of a 160 mile jaunt through the mountains, on the freeway and only reappeared after another 10 miles of city driving. I believe the carbon is breaking up and keep in mind these are monitoring passageways built into the heads that are in use less than 3 minutes when the car is cold. It is emmissions monitoring only and does not effect the cars performance. Brakes are good, tires are nearly new, new ball joints, thrust rods and rear link. The car runs strong, never any vanos or any other issues. INTERIOR: This is not the E39 platform's strong suit and it has the usual broken cup holders as well as one quarter glass sunshade does not retract and one of the visor mirror light switches works when it wants to. There is the normal "ballglove" type creases in the leather. I personally like the aged leather look, but suppose this could be made to look new again with leather dressings. I have only used clear leather treatments without any stains. Amazingly, no light pixels are out. Car does have Navigation with original disc and 6 CD changer set up on original sound system. WHEELS and TIRES: 18" custom matched Zenettis (current prices are aropund $2,000 for a set - super high quality) made specifically for E39 M5's or E39 540i's with sport package. The exact correct offset of the original wheels. I do not have the original wheels. The tires were installed 8/13/12 and are Cooper RS3A's.

BMW offers xDrive on 2015 2 Series

Fri, 06 Jun 2014

BMW has released its mile-long list of model changes for 2015. It's mostly comprised of tiny tweaks to options packages, pricing or trim colors, but there are a few interesting new features in there too. One thing all buyers will notice is that as of July 1, the company's destination charge increases by $25, to $950 for all of its models.
The 2 Series gets two really useful upgrades for 2015. We already knew that BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system would be offered on the M235i this summer. However, it won't be the only 2 capable of spinning all four wheels. The 228i model will also be available with the system for $34,850 (after destination), $1,800 more than the standard model.
The other big addition brings a sportier ride to the 228i (with or without xDrive) for those who don't want to spring for the M235i. BMW is adding a Track Handling Package (pictured above) that lowers the suspension 10mm and includes the Adaptive M Suspension, Variable Sport Steering, M Sport Brakes and 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. It's available on manual or automatic models at $1,600 for cars ordered with the M Sport or Sport Line trims or $2,200 without it.

Project CARS vs reality at Laguna Seca shows amazing potential

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Project CARS is aiming to be the next great racing sim. Offering a mix of modern and classic cars on famous tracks, developer Slightly Mad Studios is trying to inject a fresh energy into the genre, and at the moment its game looks ready to take on Forza and Gran Turismo.
The game is still about six months from release, and the graphics already look practically photorealistic. The video below shows side-by-side laps of Laguna Seca in a BMW - real life on the left and the game on the right. It's absolutely astounding. Other than some changes to the sponsorship around the track, they are almost identical.
Of course anyone with quality seat time in a racing sim knows that graphics are just one factor. How the game feels is even more important, and without getting hands on, it's impossible to judge yet. However, consider our interest piqued. Project CARS is scheduled to launch in November on the Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, Nintendo WiiU, Windows PC and Steam OS. Scroll down to check out the video.

BMW 2 Series to wear 230i, M240i nameplates

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

BMW might not be done tweaking its naming scheme quite yet. Of course, at this point, the jumble of numbers on the back of the Bavarian models has no connection to what's under the hood. So there's not much reason to stop changing the monikers now.
As Autoblog reported a few months ago, BMW is slotting upgraded, turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines called the B48 and B58, respectively, into the 3 and 4 Series. If this happens, the 328i/428i would become the 330i/430i, and the 335i/435i would turn into the 340i/440i.
Obviously, this change hasn't happened yet, but the same member of 2Addicts, a portion of the larger Bimmerpost community has now claimed that the 228i and M235i would get the same treatment. They would become the 230i and M240i, respectively, with the new engines.
