*** This is a relist by eBay user knapp001 via a new eBay account. For sale is truly a one of a kind BMW M3. It is 1 of 53 convertibles with this color combination imported to the US, and the only one to receive a complete Stage 2 package by Active Autowerke.

This car started life as a stock 1998 BMW M3, but was completely decked out by Active Autowerke to the tune of over $35,000 ($23,650.95 in 1999, $6,851.14 in 2006, and $5,196.33 in 2012). All of the work was done by Active at Active, and it is fully documented. In fact, I have every piece of documentation for this car since the day it rolled of the lot, and all of the work has been done by either Active, BMW or a certified BMW mechanic.

This car pushes about 470HP according to Active. It has never been abused or raced. I purchased the car from the original owner who kept it as a Sunday driver, which is represented by the less than 42,250 original miles on the odometer.

The beauty of this car is that it drives like stock, albeit with a lot more of a kick. It drives and handles exactly like a BMW M3 should...not like the disappointing 240HP stock M3s that leave you wanting more.

The car has received all of its required service and it remains in great operating condition. The tires have about 5,000 miles on them, the rotors and the calipers have a ton of meat on them. This car needs nothing, but a new driver.

Here is a list of some of the major mods:
AA Turbo Stage 2/Gen 2 Package at 12 psi boost
AA Stainless Exhaust
AA Stage II Intercooler
AA Front Strut Tower Brace
Koni Adjustable Shocks and Strut Kit with RD Lower Sports Spring Kit
Stand-alone F.I. System
High performance Clutch
AA Aluminum Flywheel
Chrome Air Grill
Brembo 2 Piece Racing Brake Kit
Eternal Wastegate
HKS Turbo Timer
HKS Variable Boost Controller
AA "X" Brace lower front Chassis
RD Swaybar Kit
Dual Gauge A Piller with Boost and Air/Fuel
OBD II upgrade
Aluminum Radiator
AA Diff Support Bracket Kit

I would rate the interior and exterior at a 7 out of 10. The matching hardtop does not leak, and the soft top has almost never been used.

I can provide copies of the documentation and any additional high resolution pictures by request.

The car also comes with an additional set of staggered wheels and tires. The wheels are not in the best of shape, but all four of the Perrelli PZERO tires have less than 1000 miles on them (bought and mounted in Nov. 2012).

The KBB private party value of the car is:
Excellent - $12,103
Very Good - $11,803
Good - $11,628

The Truecar Private Party Sale Price is
Low Range: $14,188
Market Average Sale Price: $14,413
High Range: $14,639
Recommended List Price: $16,575

If you include the cost of the car, there is almost $90,000 in this car (all of which is documented).

The car has a clean Autocheck and Title

The car and I are in Pebble Beach, Ca.

Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping, but I will help in anyway I can once full payment is received.

***I am not a new eBay user. I have been selling on eBay since 2000 through my other username: knapp001. Please free to message me at that username to confirm ownership. The only reason that I created this new username is due to eBay's vehicle listing policy, which has labeled my primary account as a "high volume seller". As some of you know, eBay users are permitted to list 6 vehicles a year without an insertion fee (instead they pay a final value fee of $125), but if you relist the same vehicle that will count against your 6 listings (i.e. 6 different vehicles each listed one time and 1 vehicle relisted 6 times is the same thing). Despite being unaware of this policy when I relisted a vehicle too many times, I have no issue with it and feel that it is fair. However, if an eBay user ever goes over this 6 vehicle limit the user is permanently labeled as a "high volume seller" and the user is never again permitted to take advantage of the 6 insertion free listings. The alternative is paying a $50 insertion fee for each listing and relisting. This is directly from an eBay customer service rep who stated they do not agree with the policy and that eBay gets a lot of complaints about it. Their recommendation was to either use a friends account or create an entirely new one to circumvent this policy.***

2018 Kia Stinger vs. other luxury hatchbacks compared by the numbers

Sat, Nov 18 2017

Ten years ago, if you had told us that one of the many new luxury segments to develop would be sedan-style hatchbacks, we'd have said you'd lost your mind. And yet, here we are today with not one, but four cars competing in just such a niche upscale segment: The Kia Stinger, Buick Regal Sportback, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo and Audi A5. That's just in one size and price bracket. Two of the manufacturers listed here make larger versions of each luxury hatchback. We aren't entirely sure how it happened, but we're not going to complain, because we love the idea of a car with almost no compromise: luxury features, sporty performance, and plenty of practicality. Try Autoblog' s Car Finder to search for your next new vehicle. One of the reasons we're taking a look at these cars right now is that Kia has recently released pricing for its entry in the segment, the Stinger and Stinger GT. Buick wasn't far behind with the Regal Sportback and Regal GS, nor was Audi with the A5 and S5. So it seemed like an appropriate moment to look at the numbers and see which come out ahead or behind, with victors in each category highlighted with bold and underlined text. What we found when comparing these cars' statistics is that each one has a clear area of expertise. For performance, it's hard to beat the four-cylinder Kia Stinger and the V6 Stinger GT. The four-banger has the most horsepower of the four cars, and is just behind on torque. The V6 has the most power and torque among the six-cylinder versions. The Stingers are also the second lightest of the group when equipped with rear-wheel drive, though they fall to third with all-wheel drive. Space is a split between the Buick Regals and BMW 3 Series Gran Turismos. The Buicks have the most cargo space with the rear seats up or folded by a significant margin. The BMW on the other hand generally offers more space for passengers. It's up to you what's most important. Compare these and other potential new vehicle purchases using our tool. When it comes to cost, nothing can beat the four-cylinder Regal's base price of under $26,000. But if a V6 is what you're after, the Stinger GT is the cheapest. Neither matches the Audi A5 and S5 for fuel economy, though. Both Audis have the highest numbers for city, highway, and combined EPA estimates. Related Video:

BMW Hack: the auto industry's big cyber-security warning sign [w/video]

Sat, Feb 7 2015

A cyber-security hole that left more than two million BMWs vulnerable may be the most serious breach the auto industry has faced in its emerging fight against car hackers. Security experts are not only concerned that researchers found weaknesses inside the company's Connected Drive remote-services system. They're worried about how the hackers gained entry. German researchers spoofed a cell-phone station and sent fake messages to a SIM card within a BMW's telematics system. Once inside, they locked and unlocked car doors. Other researchers have demonstrated it's possible to hack into a car and control its critical functions, but what separates this latest exploit from others is that it was conducted remotely. In an industry that's just coming to grips with the security threats posed by connectivity in cars, the possibility of a remote breach has been an ominous prospect. The fact it has now occurred may mean a landmark threshold has been crossed. "It's as close as I've seen to a genuine, remote attack on telematics," said Mike Parris, head of the secure car division at SBD, a UK-based automotive technology consulting company. "At this point, the OEMs are trying to play a game of catch up." Previous researchers in the automotive cyber-security field have launched remote attacks that are similar in nature, though not the same. In 2010, academics at California-San Diego and the University of Washington demonstrated they could remotely control essential functions of a car, but they needed to be within close proximity of the vehicle. In November 2014, researchers at Argus Cyber Security remotely hacked cars with an aftermarket device called a Zubie plugged into their diagnostic ports. But the remote attack was predicated on the Zubie dongle having physically been installed in the car. With the BMW hack, researchers compromised the car without needing physical access or proximity. The German Automobile Association, whose researchers conducted the BMW study, said it infiltrated the system "within minutes" and left undetected, a feat that raises the possibility that a hacker could do the same in a real-world scenario. Messages Were Sent Unencrypted Security analysts described the BMW infiltration as a "man in the middle" attack. Researchers mimicked a cellular base station and captured traffic between the car and the BMW Connected Drive service, which drivers can access and control via an app on their cell phones.

Best new convertibles for 2024 and 2025

Thu, Jan 25 2024

If you’re here, then youÂ’re already in the right mindset. Convertibles rule, and we have all the best convertibles listed for you further below. Driving around with the top off is an experience you need to live to fall in love with. When the weatherÂ’s right, youÂ’re on a proper bit of road, and the car youÂ’re in is a good one, few automotive experiences can top it. The experience is extra special when you have a musical exhaust note filtering directly into your ears and echoing off the landscape around you. And while rolling the windows down and opening a moonroof can get you part of the way there, it's nothing like feeling the wind wash over you with absolutely no roof overhead. The downsides can be just as harsh as the upsides when youÂ’re in the wrong conditions, though. Convertibles are typically worse to live with in cold climates, and driving around with the top up frequently means you might be subject to more road noise and worse visibility than an equivalent coupe. And when it comes to pure performance, convertibles are inherently compromised from a weight and structural rigidity perspective. All that said, we still think the upsides outweigh the compromises if your number one objective is to simply have fun. ItÂ’s a good thing then that there are a ton of great convertibles for sale these days. And no, the list of possibilities isnÂ’t as long as it used to be. Long-running standbys like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and C-Class Convertibles are gone (replaced by the one CLE-Class). And so are others like the Audi TT Roadster, Fiat 124 Spider and Nissan Z Roadster. Nevertheless, opportunities abound from the ultra-cheap and fun, to physics-defying supercars and everything else in between. WeÂ’ll give you options for which new convertibles we think are the best below, so read on to find out.   Mazda MX-5 Miata Pros: Lightweight and compact; great engine and transmission combo; one of the most raw and pure driving experiences out thereCons: Not great for tall people; infotainment is dated; tiny trunk Read our Mazda MX-5 Miata Review Miata is always the answer, right? In this case, that rings even more true than usual. In fact, you could stop reading this list right here and go buy a Miata and youÂ’d likely be just as happy driving it around as you would be in any of the more expensive offerings that follow. ThatÂ’s just the magic of the MX-5.
