I am selling my daily drivable Active Autowerke Stage 1.5 Supercharged 2002 BMW M3. It is in great condition without any issues whatsoever. If you are looking for a clean supercharged E46 M3 then you have found it. I bought this car a few years ago and brought it straight to the dealership to get it checked out. It was very well maintained by the previous owner and only needed a few basic service items that were all done at Braman BMW dealership in Miami. The exterior has a few rock chips as expected from highway driving. I just noticed the right front spot light lens has a crack(probably small rock chipped it on highway). The light works perfectly but the lens needs to be replaced. No big deal but I am trying to describe the car the best I can. The interior is in great shape. I changed a lot of the interior parts that tend to scratch on these BMW's such as door handles and the bezel around the shift knob.  I replaced them with OEM BMW dealership replacement parts. It really is a clean looking car. I then proceeded to Active Autowerke where the no expense spared tuning started. Active Autowerke builds daily drivable reliable monsters and that is exactly what this M3 has become. Here are the list of parts that have been installed less than 2000 miles ago.

TR Motorsport MT1 Lightweight Wheels and Dunlop Extreme Performance Tires:        $ 2,500.00

Dell Mini Labtop with Software for Pump and Race Tune uploading option                    $   700.00

Installation and Tuning (Approximately):                                                                          $ 4000.00

Total                                                                                                                              $ 24,690.49

I know for sure I am forgetting some parts and costs but this is what I can remember. All of these parts where installed by Active Autowerke Headquarters in Miami, Florida. For those of you who know BMW's and tuning, I do not need to explain what Active Autowerke is all about and how amazing their work is. For those that do not know, Active Autowerke is one of the best if not to say the best BMW tuning company in the United States for BMW's. Just take a look at their website. With quality comes a price. The purchasing and installation of all these parts at Active Autowerke has come at a great price to me. This is not a car that has been modified by some guy who does not know what he is doing. This is a professionally upgraded M3. It has been dyno tuned to over 500 hp. It is capable of much more with the upgrade kit to a full Stage 2 for not much money. All the parts that have been installed on the car are either new or less than 2000 miles old. I have receipts to prove it.

The reason the car has this little miles on it is because I live both in Florida and in the Caribbean. The car was actually shipped to the Caribbean for a car show and then shipped back to Florida after the show. Carfax will show this export/import. It is a clear title car with no mileage rollback or anything strange of that kind. I have not driven the car much. It is a garage queen and is only driven on weekends when I had the time. It truly is a blast to drive. As you might be able to see from the pictures, the car has just been at Active Autowerke Headquarters in Miami, Florida where it has just been serviced and is fully ready to go. The reason I am selling the car is because I have decided to move away from the BMW world and buy a Nissan GTR. There is a rather low reserve on this car so please only bid if you have the funds to pay. Please feel free to contact me to setup a viewing of the car. I will be in Florida all next week so feel free to call  Alex (305)-301-1728.

6 luxury car brands to watch in 2024

Tue, Jan 30 2024

2023 was a healthy year for the auto industry, and even with incentives returning and dealer lots filling up, there's plenty to like about the market if you build luxury automobiles, and we expect 2024 to be more of the same, which makes luxury-segment rivalries all the more interesting. Top luxury car brand rivalries? Well, that sounds downright uncivilized. But we know better, don't we? And when every quarterly sales update is an opportunity to remind somebody else that they bought the wrong status symbol, well, who can resist? Certainly not the diehard customers who fly their favorite brands' banners high.  Read more: Auto sales: Industry records best year since 2019 Read more: 2023 auto sales and 2024 preview: Ford Bronco vs. Jeep Wrangler This is a tricky segment to define, but essentially, we're looking at luxury car brands with depth to their portfolios and dealerships that exist to attract real-world customers. The Bentleys, Rolls-Royces and McLarens of the world are luxury cars, certainly, but we're more concerned with brands that have a bit more mass appeal — manufacturers who treat supply constraints as fiascos rather than features. If you disagree with our selections, feel free to let us know in the comments.  And since we're mostly concerned with finishing order, the luxury brands and totals featured here may change as new data come in throughout 2024. Due to the wild swings of the past several years, we're treating 2023 as the baseline by which we'll measure sales performance. And rather than rank brands vs. their finishing order in 2022, when supply-chain and inflationary issues still played havoc with sales figures, we're starting 2024 off with a clean slate.  The mainstream luxury segment is always a dogfight, but with their varied approaches to electrification all of the major luxury brands are in the midst of reshaping the premium landscape. Who is doing it right? Well, according to U.S. shoppers, the usual suspects are up to their old tricks.

Thanks to smaller engines, vehicle dependability falls for first time in 16 years

Fri, Feb 14 2014

As automakers have made engines smaller and smaller to improve fuel economy, problems in those vehicles have gotten bigger and bigger. That's the synopsis of a J.D. Power vehicle-dependability study, which found that dependability dropped for the first time in 16 years, largely because the proliferation of four-cylinder engines is causing the vehicles to be less reliable. Specifically, the number of problems per 100 vehicles (or what J.D. Power calls PP100) during the past 12 months for 2011 model-year vehicles rose six percent from the year-earlier figures for 2010 model-year cars. Singling out four-cylinder vehicles revealed about a 10-percent increase in problems during the past year. This issues largely related to engine hesitation, rough transmission shifting and lack of power, signaling the inability of vehicle makers to iron out some of the problems in their smaller engines as they strove for better fuel economy. Six- and five-cylinder engines proved far more reliable. Among car brands, BMW's Mini sub-brand came out as least reliable, with 185 problems per 100 vehicles during the past year. Toyota's Lexus badge was easily the most reliable, with just 68 problems per 100 vehicles. Coming in second place was Mercedes-Benz. The overall average was 133. Check out J.D. Power's press release below. J.D. Power Reports: Increased Engine and Transmission Problems Contribute to Decline in Vehicle Dependability for The First Time in More Than 15 Years General Motors Company Receives Eight Segment Awards, While Toyota Motor Corporation Garners Seven and Honda Motor Company Earns Six WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.: o Owners of 3-year-old vehicles (2011 model year) report more problems than did owners of 3-year-old vehicles last year, according to the J.D. Power 2014 U.S. Vehicle Dependability StudySM (VDS) released today. The study, now in its 25th year, examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2011 model-year vehicles. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The study finds that overall vehicle dependability averages 133 PP100, a 6 percent increase in problems from 126 PP100 in 2013. This marks the first time since the 1998 study that the average number of problems has increased. "Until this year, we have seen a continual improvement in vehicle dependability," said David Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D.

Thermal imagery of BMW M4 DTM pit stop is red hot

Wed, 28 May 2014

A pit stop is a pit stop, right? The race car pulls in, the crew changes the tires, pumps in some fuel, maybe swaps out a busted body panel or squeegees the windshield, and off it goes for another heat. Only pit stops have become the focus of news lately for a number of reasons, whether it's because of mishaps (like the ones that prompted F1 to ban mid-race refueling), new time records (due largely to said ban) or interesting new ways to film the fast-paced action.
A few weeks ago we brought you footage of an IndyCar pit stop filmed from multiple angles courtesy of Google Glass. Now BMW has released a brief clip of one of its M4 DTM racers coming in for fresh rubber, all filmed by infrared camera. Its the kind of technology BMW uses to help optimize its German touring cars for competition, and now the Bavarian outfit has released some footage for fans to enjoy.
The resulting thermal imagery gives you an idea of how hot the car runs (and where the heat is emanating from), how warm they get the fresh rubber before they get it onto the car, and what kind of temperatures the pit crew is subjected to. Look closely enough in the 25-second video below and you'll even see the heat sputtering out of the exhaust pipes as the M4 downshifts into its pit box. (Just don't try adjusting your speakers, the clip is without audio.)
