"Drive it for a day and you'll be amazed by the immediacy of its responsiveness and by the sheer explosiveness of
its straight line performance. You'll soon start to wonder why anyone else would bother trying to build a rival to
such a car." -- Autocar
"The selection of mechanical melodies generated by the 3.2 litre straight six engine residing under the bulging
bonnet of this ultimate variation on the BMW 3 series theme tops any comparable powerplant that I've ever tuned
into before." -- Top Gear Magazine
"BMW have launched themselves into a new class, invading Ferrari/Porsche high ground." -- CCC Magazine
The Ultimate Driving Machine
I have decided to part ways with my pride and joy. Garage kept and pampered throughout its life, this E46 M3 is
nothing short of special -- a true privilege for car lovers alike or the BMW enthusiast. The car's power is matched
with its smooth delivery in a straight line and around the corners. The immersive driving experience is only
emphasized by the heightened control of the six-speed manual transmission. And the Imola Red paint will leave you
and everyone around salivating every time you see it.
This car has a pristine 10/10 exterior. The paint shines like new and there isn't a scratch or ding. The interior
scores a 9.5/10, with only minor signs of age. The leather looks brand new, and sometimes I still swear I smell the
"new car smell."
Mechanically, the car is also a perfect 10/10. Having only been driven on highways over the weekends, everything
from the engine to the convertible motor runs like new. I have had no issues with the car, and have made no
modifications. This is a complete, straight out of the factory OEM BMW E46 M3.

BMW may keep next 1 Series out of the US

Tue, 07 May 2013

As BMW prepares to introduce the all-new 2 Series coupe and convertible, the 1 Series name definitely won't be going away. We know new sedan and hatchback models are in the works; including the GT shown above. According to Car and Driver, though, the future of the 1 Series nameplate in the US could be dependent on rival premium small cars like the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and Audi A3.
In an interview with C/D, BMW's North American head of product planning and strategy, Paul Ferraiolo, said that pricing might be the biggest deterrent to offering the third-gen 1 Series in the US. As he points out, BMW currently prices the 1 not too far from the 3 Series, but Mercedes-Benz and Audi will have their new small cars priced well below the $30,000 mark. BMW's Mini brand will also factor into the consideration since the 1 GT will share its underpinnings with the next-gen Cooper lineup.

As US exports top 2 million, is America becoming the world's source of cheap cars?

Mon, Feb 9 2015

North American auto production is booming with 2014 figures just shy of the of the 17.3-million vehicle record set in 2000. With more models being built on the continent, even more are being shipped overseas. Factories in the US exported 2.1 million cars last year – the highest number ever. About half of those went to Canada and Mexico, but more than ever have been heading to places like the Middle East and China. The upswing comes in part from from after-effects from the Great Recession, according to The Wall Street Journal. With a weak dollar and lower production costs after the financial crisis, building vehicles in the US was relatively cheaper and more competitive in the world. At the same time buyers around the world are going crazy for crossovers. According to the WSJ, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are already exporting the majority of their US production of these models overseas. Both automakers have also announced investments to expand production further here to send more vehicles abroad. Even Honda has been shipping more models out of the country than it imported here. There is a concern this international strength could start slowing because the dollar is strengthening against other currencies, though it's too early to know what the actual effect of this could be, according to the WSJ. "Of course, we closely watch currency exchange, but we don't make changes in production or allocation based on temporary fluctuations in the exchange rate," Ford North American boss Joe Hinrichs told the newspaper. BMW broadens engine bolt recall to nearly half-million cars worldwide

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Almost one month ago, we reported on a BMW investigation into a potentially defective bolt that lived in the company's VANOS variable valve timing system. At that point, the potential recall was seemingly limited to Chinese-market cars; the company was filing a recall application with Chinese officials.
Today, Bloomberg is reporting that the engine bolt issue has expanded into a recall for several world markets, involving some 489,000 vehicles. BMW was able to verify that report to Autoblog, while also providing a great deal more detail about the issue and vehicles affected.
The recall affects vehicles powered by N55 inline six-cylinder gasoline engines equipped with VANOS and Valvetronic technologies. 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series and 5 Series Gran Turismo, X3, X5, X6 and Z4 models from the 2010 to 2012 model years are included, as is the 2012 6 Series.
