1999 BMW M3 coupe
-Techno Violet exterior on Dove Gray leather interior. -Fully loaded. -Sport package. -Power Vader seats. -5spd manual trans. -78,xxx original miles. -All original. -Meticulously maintained. -Only serviced using OEM BMW parts, including original BMW motor oil since new. -Only 93octane Super petrol at the pump. -Never modified or abused. -Clean and clear history and title. Mechanicals: -The car starts on the first turn of the key every time. Idles perfectly steady with no problems whatsoever. The motor pulls extremely strong throughout the entire RPM range with full power and proper compression in all six cylinders. -OEM clutch that feels and performs like new. Transmission shifts perfectly throughout all gears with a tight and precise throw. Absolutely no slipping, grinding, crunching, or problems of any kind. -Steering and suspension both feel excellent and leave the driver with full confidence. Very sporty with tight and precise mannerism, although retaining that world renown BMW comfort on those longer drives. -Brakes are all newer and work flawlessly. Hand brake also locks extremely tight. -All electronics work as they should. Rare powered Vader seats, original option. The sought after OEM+ CD43 radio/headunit is installed, however the original tape deck radio is included. The original CD changer is also still in the trunk and works as it should. -All lighting work as they should with no flaws. -A/C blows ice cold on the hottest of days. The heat also works flawlessly. Perfect pixels and fully functioning climate control unit (very common problem with this model is a faulty climate control unit). -Absolutely no warning lights or CEL on the dash cluster. Cosmetics: -Beautiful original Techno Violet paint in immaculate condition. Before owning this ///M3 the thought of a purple car would have made me cringe, however I must say in full honesty that this is one of the cleanest, classiest, and coolest colors I have ever seen on any car. The photos do not do justice for the condition of this car's paint, I welcome any serious buyers to come see for yourself. -All plastic trim is in great shape and still deep black in color with minimal fading. -All glass is original and flawless. -The Dove Gray leather interior compliments the Techno Violet paint very well creating a subtle, yet extremely attractive color combination. The carpets, door panels, and headliner are all in excellent condition with no stains, rips, or tears of any kind. The dash is excellent as well with no cracks or defects of any kind. The powered leather Vader seats are in great shape for their age, although they are not in "new" condition. They are, however, extremely presentable and very in respectable shape giving their age and the nature of such a light color. There are no stains, rips, tears, or holes in any of the seats. The rear seats and passenger front seat are a solid 9.5/10 -- however the driver's seat is an 8/10 due to expected and common wear on the bolsters. In all honesty, a simple "Leatherique" treatment would really bring the Vader seats up to par with the rest of the car. In no way, shape, or form is any upholstery work required. Unfortunately I am my own worst critic, but in reality almost everyone who sees the interior in person raves about its condition. -The original spare tire, jack, tool kit, and entire trunk are in excellent, unmolested condition. -The engine bay is extremely clean and appears to have been detailed regularly since new. All plastics and rubber hoses are in excellent shape and are still a very deep black in color. All fluid reservoirs are clean and presentable with no leakage. -Absolutely no leaking fluids anywhere. Upgrades: -Stainless steel STROMUNG exhaust. Super high quality made in Germany and retails for $700 USD. Looks, sounds, and performs incredible. In my opinion, the best made and best sounding exhausts for the E36 ///M3. -New black leather shift boot with tri-colored ///M stitching. -OEM BMW ZHP weighted shift knob. -OEM BMW CD43 headunit. -High quality aFe air intake which also improves sound and performance. Disclaimer: Despite being a meticulously maintained and low mileage example of this German built sport coupe, it is a used 1999 model year ///M3 with 78,xxx miles. For its age, the car is immaculate, but one cannot expect a brand new car. It is not without very minor flaws and blemishes, which are inevitable and should be expected on a vehicle that is 14+ years old. Mechanically the car is without fault, and it is all up to date on any and all services. Regular care and maintenance is required to keep this car in perfect working order. Car is sold as-is, where-is. No warranty is express or implied. I encourage all interested parties to come feel, see, and hear this beautiful machine in person. Feel free to email with any questions or concerns. Good luck bidding! On Oct-21-13 at 19:36:47 PDT, seller added the following information:A few detail I forgot to mention: (1)-The car was bought new in California, and remained in that beautiful warm and dry climate until 2008 where it was purchased in New York. It has always been garaged when not in use since it has been in NY. (2)-Absolutely NO RUST anywhere on this car. Structurally sound and solid. (3)-The original DSII wheels have been refinished in a Nogaro Silver color which compliments the car's color combination perfectly. The wheels are clean, cool, and beautiful. (4)-All four tires are like-new. Goodyear Eagle GT with 225/45 in the front and 245/40 in the rear. Very reliable, grippy, and comfortable tires with no road noise. On Oct-21-13 at 20:12:49 PDT, seller added the following information:I also forgot to mention that the cooling system has been serviced very recently, including a brand new radiator, with receipts. Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).
Recharge Wrap-up: BMW i8 markups declining, Nissan offering discounted Leaf lease buyouts
Fri, May 22 2015Zipcar has published the results of an independent study on "Urban Boomers." KRC Research surveyed city-dwelling, healthy adults aged 50 to 69, and found that they are fond of technology and are more active – but drive less – after moving to the city. Many still feel car ownership is important, and often don't get rid of a car they already own, but they find alternative forms of transportation important, too. Even though it is often thought of as a bigger draw for millenials, Zipcar feels that these findings indicate that Urban Boomers are an important demographic for carsharing companies. See the results of the study in the slideshow from Zipcar. Nissan is offering lease buyout credits of up to $5,000 for its Leaf EV. Depending on the region, 2012 and 2013 models get a Leaf Gross Payoff discount of up to $5,000, with 2011 models garnering up to $1,500 off. Some dealers may also offer an additional $1,500 discount. It's possible that Nissan wants to encourage lessees to purchase their Leafs after residual values of the car dropped by about six percent in May. Some potential long-term owners could also be concerned over battery life, or be tempted by the updated Leaf slated for the 2017 model year. Read more at Green Car Reports. Dealership markups for the BMW i8 are dwindling. Actual costs of the attractive plug-in hybrid are nearing sticker prices after high demand and short supply led many dealers to exact a higher price for the car. BMW recently announced it would double production of the i8 to help meet demand, which could be behind the declining markups. The i8 has a base MSRP of $136,500, plus $950 in destination fees. BMW's Vision Next 100 concept celebrates past, predicts future
Mon, Mar 7 2016Forecasting 100 years out is a tough job, so we'll forgive BMW if not everything in this concept comes true in the next century. It's the first of several that will celebrate BMW's centenary this year – concepts from Mini, Rolls-Royce, and BMW Motorcycles will follow later – and aims to guess what and how we'll be driving in the distant future. Although it's no longer a question of if, we still don't know when cars will make the switch to autonomous driving. So yeah, there's a lot up in the air. What this concept promises is more of everything. What this concept promises is more of everything: more comfort, more assistance, and a more intense experience – when you want that. Plus new, lighter materials, increased customization, and of course all the connected smarts you can throw (or will be able to throw) at a set of four wheels and some seats. It starts inside with an out-there dashboard display. Going a step further from the typical head-up display, the Alive Geometry transforms everything in your periphery into a digital blanket of context stretching from the interior to some of the exterior panels. This tessellation of moving triangles is supposed to mimic a flock of birds to bring you subtly changing information about what's going on around you. BMW gives this idea the made-up term of 4D printing. BMW gives this idea the made-up term of 4D printing, as it believes that in 30 years it will be possible to rapidly prototype this flock-of-informative-seagulls design to provide function (the fourth dimension, apparently?) in addition to the physical form. We'll check back in 2046. BMW also notes that displays in current cars will give way to OLED displays and then to the windshield-as-display concept that has been promised for a while and is seen here. About the car driving itself: BMW highlights two new driving modes for the concept, Boost and Ease. Boost is for when the driver is in control, the vehicle doing what it can to heighten the experience and the driver's awareness. It can use the Alive Geometry to show the best line or warn of other cars, integrating all the current active safety tech and more. BMW believes this will allow the driver to improve instead of just going faster. We would have called this mode iStillDriveSometimes, but hey, marketing still has 100 years to come around to that one. The important idea is that the driver will still have the choice to drive.
