I’m offering up my 1995 E36 M3 on eBay for your consideration today because I really don’t drive it as I had intended too. I bought it last year from a true BMW fanatic in Orlando FL. He had this car, along with an M5 and after spending an untold amount of money on this M3 decided he nolonger needed it and sold it to me. I had plans to use it as a track day car, but never took it to the track and now I find myself driving it maybe once a week to work and back. I have a folder documenting all the money the previous owner spent on this car. He was an older gentlemen (with money), so everything that’s been done to this car has been done right. It’s like he opened the Turner Motorsports catalog and went “Yes”, I’ll take it all…. Seriously.

When I was looking for an E36 M3 to buy, I looked at several. This one stood out to me though, because it was obviously a car that had been cared for, was enthisiest owned, and was a rust free Florida car. Plus, after driving it, I was sold. The no expense spared mods that have been done to this car make it the best driving car I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of cars!!! It’s so immediate, so direct it’s like an extension of yourself. All modifications have been completed within the last year, so they are all very fresh.

While in my posession, I have serviced and maintained the car, replaced a few broken things and basically kept what the previous owner was doing, going. I will describe each area of the car in detail below. I’m sure I will miss something, so if after reading the entire description you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I am very honest in my descriptions and also very picky about my cars. So I note every little imperfection that other sellers may not. I do this so you know exactly what you’re looking at and it’s all out on the table with nothing hidden or held back.

If you’re looking for an honest, genuine E36 M3 of the right year, in the right colors with all the right mods, that you could get in and drive anywhere immediately this is the one for you!

Body:

This is an accident free car, with a clean Carfax. It was originally purchased on the east cost of Florida, and has spent most of it’s life in Florida. It is completely rust free. I would say that most of the paint on the car is original. Which in some ways is a good thing, as it shows the car has nothing to hide, but on the other hand it does show almost 20 years of age. It has fading on the roof, and scratches where the sunroof opens. It has a 3 inch long dent on the passengers side front fender (see picture). It also has various small door dings from careless people in parking lots. All in all it’s a rust free, very original and straight body.

Interior:

The interior of this car is amazing. It has manual “Vaders”, that most people seem to like. The dash has no cracks, the seats are all excellent. The door panels were replaced with brand new ones shortly before I purchased the car. The headliner has been replaced and is excellent. All gauges are clear and work as they should. It has an aftermarket Kenwood CD stereo installed with Bluetooth. The power sunroof works great. The carpets are all excellent. The interior is a very nice place to be.

Engine:

What can I say about the SB50 that hasn’t already been said? Beautiful smooth power all over the rev range. This one has been treated to a stage two Turner Motorsports tune with a Conforti chip, and Turner (aFe) intake. This one is both quiet and smooth, that is until you get on it and then she howls! It has the stock exhaust, so it’s quiet, but when you get it in the upper rev range, you hear the wonderful intake growl, it’s a beautiful thing.. The engine has no knocks, no ticks, no issues. Rock solid cooling system as well. It’s a 1995 model, so it’s an OBDI car.

Transmission/clutch:

This car has the stock 5 speed manual transmission in it. It shifts smooth with no noises or issues. It has a Turner Motorsports short shift kit installed which really improves the shift action over the stock setup. I do not know what make/model clutch is in the car, but suffice to say, it is very good. It bites hard, with no slip, and excellent pedal feel.

Rear axle:

The rear diff was replaced when under the care of the previous owner. It has been replaced with a Turner Motorsports E36 Diff upgrade, as well as a slightly shorter set of gears that really wake this car up. I can't quite remember what ratio he told me was in it (3:63 maybe?). Either way, it's a great upgrade that really wakes the car up!

Suspension:

Stock suspension setups on BMW’s are very good indeed, and unless the owner follows a proven route when modifying it, it can spoil the car completely. This car has what I think is the only suspension setup for the E36 that is an improvement over stock. It has Bilsteins all around, with H&R springs. It has also been treated to an “X”-brace. To say “It’s on rails” is to put it mildly. This thing is so direct and communicative it’s mind-blowing.

Brakes:

The brakes on this car where the only thing that needed immediate attention when I got it. They worked fine, but the front disks were worn and had begun to warp. So I replaced them with some quality aftermarket disks plus some new StopTech pads. She brakes strong and straight now.

Tires:

The tires are all matching Nexen N7000. They were installed shortly before I bought it, and I would estimate have about 7500 miles on them. So, they are all excellent.

Needs:

As with all older cars, it’s not new. The A/C would be the first thing that needs to be done on it. It holds a charge, but does not blow cold. A new compressor with clutch would fix it right up. The power windows both work, however the passenger side can get hung up if lowered beyond half way. This goes hand in hand with a rattle inside the passenger side door. I believe a clip or something has come loose and if retrieved and re-attached all would be well with the window and door. Also, the coolant level sensor is bad. As mentioned before, the cooling system is excellent, but the level sensor indicates to check the cooling system level when starting up and shutting off, Finally, I did not replace the wear sensors then I replaced the front pads, so the “ABS” light is always on.

So, there you have it, the good and the bad about the car. Anyone interested and within driving distance is more then welcome to come and see it in person. Regarding the sale; I am not interested in trades, and will only accept cash, or a cashiers check from a well known institution as payment. It has a clean and clear Florida title that must be filled out in it’s entirety before the car leaves my driveway. I will be happy to make myself available to any shipping company for collection, but only after the car is completely paid for. I will also be happy to meet the buyer at an airport close to me should they want to fly in and drive it home. Airports close to me are SRQ, PIE and TPA. Thanks for looking. Dave.

AC Schnitzer ACS4 Sport packs 510 hp under a subdued carbon fiber bodykit

Wed, Mar 4 2015

One of the interesting things about the Geneva Motor Show is the breadth of the European auto industry that it covers. Beyond just the stands from major manufacturers and boutique marques, the event also hosts the regions top tuners. Among them this year are the BMW specialists AC Schnitzer, with myriad upgrades for the M4. By the time the company is done, the coupe gets renamed the ACS4 Sport. The M4 is already a potent machine with its 431-horsepower, turbocharged inline-six, but for customers willing to spend the money, more performance is always possible. AC Schnitzer's engine upgrade takes power up to 510 hp and 476 pound-feet of torque, and buyers can also add a new exhaust with carbon-fiber-surrounded tail pipes barely protruding from the rear. The company offers two suspension kits, as well. The first lowers the BMW by 1.0-1.2 inches in front and 0.4-0.6 inches in the rear. However, for drivers who really want to scrape the ground, an adjustable racing option drops the front by 1.2-1.6 inches and the back by 1.2 inches. Of course, AC Schnitzer's buyers also want to show off their cars' added performance, and the company is ready with a host of carbon fiber pieces. Up front, there's a new front spoiler, splitter and side flicks, and the rear is available with a diffuser, roof spoiler and fixed rear wing. A wide variety of wheels finish off the sporty look, including the brand's AC1 BiColor twin-spoke design offered in forged or standard versions. Get a full look at the German tuners fairly tasteful upgrades in our gallery from the show floor, above. ?"Man, Machine & More" – The M4 by AC Schnitzer Aachen-based tuning experts open new dimensions in the field of Motorsport power Man, machine & more - The tuning experts at AC Schnitzer have given the BMW M4 with Motorsport power a further kick of energy. Once again, the Aachen-based tuning specialists have shown that there's no upper limit to power and sporting performance. To build up the muscle power of the BMW M4, AC Schnitzer has provided a performance upgrade containing of an additional control unit which increases the performance from 431 to 510 hp, and from 550 to 645 Nm. Scope of delivery of every AC Schnitzer performance upgrade includes always a two years guarantee which can be upgraded up to three years. After a visit to the Aachen workshops, the powerful energy combustion developed with the AC Schnitzer "Efficient Performance" know-how is also revealed in the exhaust of the M4.

The 2016 Pebble Beach Concept Lawn was nuts as always

Mon, Aug 22 2016

The Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is like the smallest, most expensive car show you can imagine. A bunch of unobtanium concepts and almost-production models line an irregularly shaped putting green for people to stare at while on their way to see other, older insane cars. This year's crop was a particularly good one. We'll walk through the gallery above in order: That's a new Ford GT. Not quite a concept, but it's not in production yet, so we'll let it slide. Then there's the one-of-a-kind Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo that was recently bought by a Saudi Prince along with a matching Chiron. Next up is the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster, which was unveiled last week and is already sold out. This orange automobile is BMW's 2002 Hommage with its latest livery, a Jagermeister-themed affair called Turbomeister. This silver Infiniti, the Q80 Inspiration Concept, is an oldie but a goodie. It first appeared in Paris in 2014. The extremely long automobile after that is the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, which was unveiled in Monterey this year. The 6 in the name is because it's 6 meters, or about 18 feet, long. Most of that's the hood. Next we have the one-of-99 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato coupe, which continues to be beautiful. After that is a Fisker Karma with a V8, the VLF Destino. Thank you, Bob Lutz. The black sedan you see after that is the Cadillac Escala Concept, which also made its debut in Monterey this year. Then we have a Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge. Not a concept, but exclusive enough to join the others. Next is the McLaren 570GT customized by MSO that arrived for Pebble 2016. It has special design touches plus an electrochromic panel to replace the normal glass roof. The light blue car is the Genesis New York concept. The name didn't change even though it was in Monterey. Then we have the large and in charge Lincoln Navigator concept, taking up two regulation concept spots. The red car with suicide doors is Acura's Precision Concept, which we first saw at the Detroit show this year. Another non-concept, the Lexus LC 500h at least looks futuristic enough to be a show-specific car. And here's a 2017 Maserati Quattroporte, which is definitely not a concept. A Bentley Mulsanne EWB, because why not? It's not available in the US, so that almost qualifies for concept status. Then there's a reproduction Lister Knobbly, which we could stare at all day.

2013 Nissan GT-R and 2013 Alpina B6 mix it up on track and street

Fri, 24 May 2013

Here we have Autocar making an unforeseen comparison: the Nissan GT-R against the Alpina B6 at Brands Hatch and on public roads. Steve Sutcliffe clobbers the circuit in the 3,828-pound, all-wheel-drive sports car, then sees how well the 4,114-pound, rear-wheel drive grand tourer does against it.
Sutcliffe says there are quite a few similarities between the two cars, but that's really only on the spec sheet. The Nissan's got two turbos attached to its 3.8-liter V6, 542 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The Alpina's got two turbos attached to its 4.4-liter V8, 532 hp and 528 lb-ft. But one's brief is to be a monster on the track, the other on the boulevard, and if there's anything the video demonstrates, it's each car's focus.
