It's time to sell my hopped up e36 and move on to something more economical. This car has had a lot put into it, and is quite unique. I am asking $12,900OBO

Short version: It's a 1995 325is with the drivetrain out of a 1999 M3 swapped into it and converted to OBD1, with lots of performance upgrades and maintenance items addressed. The OBD1 conversion has the advantage of making things more simple: easier to tune and upgrade, one O2 sensor instead of four, less strict emissions standards when it comes time to smog (which it passed over the summer).

And of course, the other advantage is that you essentially have a hopped up M3 thats much cheaper to insure, since technically it's just a 325.

Cosmetically, you have to know what you are looking for to tell that it's not an M3.

Long version:

Engine Performance:

s52 swap with:
OBD1 conversion
m50 manifold
540i 3.5 inch MAF
Cold air intake
TRM tune
Borla exhaust
Magnaflow high flow cat

Suspension performance:

new bilstein struts
ground control height adjustable springs
front and rear strut tower braces
x brace

Engine maintenence:

Rebuilt vanos
Clutch replaced
New flywheel
overhauled cooling system with high performance water pump and radiator
new head gasket
head decked and planed
new oil pan gasket
new rear main seal
new spark plugs

Parts not yet installed on the car, but included in sale:
M3 Brakes
M3 LSD
replacement sunroof (sunroof doesnt slide all the way back)

Exterior:
OEM M3 Body kit
Adjustable rear spoiler
M3 side mirrors
freshly painted front bumper
Will include both an M3 front lip, as well as aftermarket diffusers. Buyer decides which to install.

Wheels:
BBS RC 18x8.5 with plenty of tread

Interior:
Black leather M3 interior (non vader)

Sound system:
BSW speakers made specifically for the Harmon Kardon amp that was a factory extra on the newer M3 donor car. It's set up with a 10 inch JL W3 sub in a sealed box with a JL 500 watt amp to match. Was thinking I'd keep the sub for my next car, but that's negotiable if the buyer really likes the sound.

BMW X1 EV for Zinoro spotted

Tue, 04 Jun 2013

BMW has teamed up with Chinese automaker Brilliance Automotive to create a joint venture in China, called Zinoro, and it appears that an all-electric version of the X1 crossover is to be the brand's first model. Spotted testing in Munich, these spy shots show a more camouflaged version of the X1 EV that we saw back in April.
Comparing these latest spy shots, we can see that the Zinoro model will wear a completely unique front fascia that ditches BMW's trademark grille, but few other changes seem to be taking place. Previous reports indicate that this Zinoro EV could go on sale in China early next year.

The List: Best of proving grounds

Fri, May 22 2015

Proving grounds are where automakers and enthusiasts alike go to push their vehicles to their mechanical limits. The Rubicon Trail, located in the Sierra Nevada, is the ultimate off-road test, while Germany's Nurburgring is a grueling 13 mile road and track course. Jessi and Patrick visit both iconic proving grounds in this "best of" compilation of The List. Did Lexus make a BMW? Or did BMW make a Lexus? This and other 2017 surprises

Fri, Dec 29 2017

It's that time of year again. The calendar is about to reach its end, Star Trek Cats 2018 is about to take its place, and I'm reflecting about all the cars that graced my driveway this year or summoned me to exotic places. You know, like Stuttgart or Phoenix. In 2017, I drove at least 57, and as I perused the list of them, I started to notice a common refrain: "This car surprised me." Most were pleasant surprises, but there were a few head scratchers and facepalms for good measure. In both cases, it was generally the result of car companies seemingly trying to break out of an existing mold. Nowhere was that more apparent than the pair of Lexuses slathered in Infrared paint: The LS 500 that left me this week and the LC 500 that was my favorite car of 2017. Though Lexus has been trying to shake its crusty, gold-packaged reputation for some time now, its efforts always seemed like an old man choosing Hollister to redo his wardrobe after realizing it hasn't been updated since 1987. I fell in love with the LC, genuinely floored by its near-perfect take on the GT. It's characterful in sound, appearance and tactility. It was at home in the city, in the mountain and on the open road. It was both comfortable and thrilling, and after driving the mechanically related LS 500, I can report that the LC's talents aren't an outlier. The LS 500's turbo V6 may make different noises than the LC's naturally aspirated V8, but it nevertheless invigorates the cabin when the car is placed in Sport+ mode. The steering is truly communicative, body motions are kept in miraculous check, and I absolutely forgot I was in an enormous luxury limo ... and a Lexus one at that. It was everything that the BMW 530e was not. I drove that on the exact same roads and was utterly bored the entire time. Generally doughy, lifeless steering, more distant than Planet 9. And no, the plug-in hybrid powertrain had nothing to do with that. At least it shouldn't. The Porsche Panamera S e-Hybrid I also drove this year proves that, as do the Hyundai Ioniqs, which are surprisingly adept and fun little cars regardless of what powers their wheels (Hyundai + hybrid = fun really blew me away). I would drive that Lexus LS F Sport over the BMW 5 Series any day of the week, which seems like a shocking thing to say in relation to either car. While Lexus is seemingly breaking out of its old crusty mold, BMW seems to be climbing into one.
