A very rare Alpina B6 2.8 Touring (wagon). It is #41/136.

Here is your chance to own a e36 M3 wagon. Alpina seized the opportunity to make these as a touring m3 was not produced by BMW. This is a wagon with power and handling to match. Not your average BMW. Potentially one of the best balanced wagons on the earth.

Service History/inspections:

This car has had the 60km,80km,100km and 120km services. I just got service at 143km. Recent inspection by local independent German shop will be available to interested parties. Runs great, sounds great.

Factory Options:

It has all the features of the second generation three series. Automatic dual air, traction control, power sunroof, remote power door locks, adjustable height headlights, fog lights, pw. Rear pass through and armrest seats.

Aftermarket items:

The car also has a pioneer carrozzeia hard drive stereo dvd with GPS (Japanese version). The only aftermarket components on the car are the stereo, and aftermarket HID's in proper housings (a good thing if you know e36's). Everything else is stock Alpina and BMW. The car has new tires.

"Individual" Alpina items:

Alpina scripting
3.71 rear end ratio
Alpina supplied instrument cluster

Full Disclosure:

The only flaws in the car are the paint chip in the front left spoiler (pictured) and a few road rash chips (145km car), and a small chip in the original windshield. Interior has a bit of sagging door liners (chronic e36 issue). Engine bay will be cleaned when weather warms up. The rear wiper water line is missing from engine bay, its brittle and needs complete replacement. I may get to it by the time of auction ends. See disclaimer at bottom due to location / buyer restrictions.

Model History:

This model is a limited edition, made for Japan only, with a total of 136 e36 touring (wagons) made in the 2.8 series. There were a total of 276 e36Touring (wagons) in the world (B3, B6, B8 ranging from 2.8L to 4.6L). The B6 was also made as a e30 and e21's, so the e36 is designated by /2 (vs e30 /1 and e21 /0).

Alpina Production History:

From the BMW factory, these cars were shipped to Alpina with some special available to Alpina bmw items (like the rear end ratios, sport seats, BMW roundels removed) and then fitted with Alpina developed parts.

The engine for example, started life as an aluminum block 2.8L from the 328 touring (M3's have cast iron), and custom head, cams, forged pistons, custom tune, stainless full length headers and exhaust, were developed by Alpina from their decades of experience building BMW based engines. It was taken to the US spec M3 power level (192hp to 240hp).

The body kit (spoiler, pinstripes), interior (seat fabric, sport seats, carpet, floor mats, steering wheel, blue instrument cluster), suspension (bilstein sport gas shocks and higher spec springs, swaybars and bushings), 5spd transmission and glorious wheels are all Alpina spec parts.

Production Timing:

This car was built by BMW March 3, 1997.

Making it the best of the breed (of the e36's) as its a later production model. The late cars have factory upgraded parts on things that broke on earlier cars: maintenance items like cooling and suspensions.

Alpina is more than just a tuning company (ala AMG or Ruff), it is a dedicated manufacturer. See article.

eBay says that this model was not available to the USA. As I work in the trade (but this is my personal car), I would require you to sign a statutory declaration that you will import it properly. I am not able to help you with your importation rules. eBay has some great information regarding this and registered importers. There is a lot of information out there.

Large deposit required (1,000). Non refundable. I need serious parties please. Please ask away before bidding.

BMW i8 with 500+ horsepower in the cards?

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

While BMW makes plenty of machinery to keep enthusiasts interested, its most enticing models are often based on more ordinary ones. That's what made the arrival of the i8 so captivating, emerging as the first stand-alone BMW sports coupe since the M1. But if its dual purpose - trying its best to both embrace the earth and traverse it rapidly - somehow left you disappointed, the next development could prove to fix that.
According to Automobile, BMW is working on a more potent i8S model. The hardcore version of the hybrid sports car would offer more power and a stiffened chassis to make it that much more aggressive. The Bavarian automaker is reportedly still evaluating two potential powertrain options: The first would pair a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder good for 320 horsepower to an electric motor with another 204 hp. The second would use a 3.0-liter straight six with 480 hp and an electric motor with 109 hp. Both would be mated to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and an integrated starter motor packing an extra 27 hp.
Either way, we'd be looking at a combined output well in excess of 500 horsepower - far more than the existing i8's 228-hp turbo three and 129-hp electric motor - dropping the 0-62 time down from 4.1 seconds to an estimated 3.5. Couple that to a more advanced carbon chassis, wider tires and other goodies, and the i8 would be transformed into a far more capable performance machine than it already is.

Coming Toyota Supra to forgo hybrid, get a BMW six-cylinder turbo?

Mon, Mar 30 2015

For years, almost all of the talk about the Toyota FT-1 concept becoming a resurrected Supra envisioned a hybrid under the hood. And then the latest take on Future Toyota 1 showed up at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and - although Toyota wouldn't say a word about any engine at all - horizons began to expand. Imaginary fancies were aided by the news that Toyota had partnered with BMW to develop a sports car on the next-generation BMW Z4 platform, which would necessarily mean an engine bay designed to accept an old-fashioned hunk of gas-burning iron-working solo. Car and Driver now turns the whole thing around, reporting that there will be an inline-six with forced induction provided by BMW under the hood. What about that hybrid, though? The report states, "there's currently no indication that the Silk Road cars will offer hybrid options" - 'Silk Road' being the codename for the jointly-developed vehicles. CD makes a point to note that said tidbit came from Germany, not Japan. However, designers at Toyota's Calty studio did tell Automotive News last year that they designed the body with an inline-six in mind, a nod to the Supra's history. Hybrid rumors aren't dead yet, though - remember, we were hearing about all-wheel drive and supercapacitors in May 2014. The coupe is predicted to be a 2018 model, making its appearance sometime in 2017, and be "about 10 percent" smaller than the FT-1 concept. Related Video:
