2004 Bmw 645ci Sport Convertible 2-door 4.4l on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
This 2004 BMW 645ci convertible is an absolute gem of a vehicle, and this is a rare low-miles version of the car maxed out with options. I am the original owner and have taken excellent care of the car, garaged, smoke-free and continually current with all maintenance, recall items, etc. All manuals, tools, etc. are included and in great shape.
The sport package (a $2500 option) includes active steering, sport seats and the 19-inch sport wheels with performance run-flat tires. The convertible roof is a joy to operate, opening or closing completely in approximately 10-15 seconds, with no effort other than holding down a button on the center console. The roof can be operated with the car in motion at low speeds. Depending on the wind / temperature conditions, you can raise or lower any combination of the windows while the roof is down to ride in comfort. There is a central system (iDrive) for controlling most of the car's functions and setting its options. The system includes a large LCD display in the dashboard that provides a variety of information-packed screens, a couple of which are depicted in the photos. One screen gives a real-time visual of the parking assist system, showing exactly where obstacles are located with respect to the car (see photo). One of BMWs hallmarks, the handling in this car is truly phenomenal. It has virtually no body roll with incredibly precise cornering. I also drive a Porsche 993 Turbo, and I've been impressed at the precision of handling in the BMW vs. the Porsche. The 325 hp engine produces impressive and smooth power accompanied by a gorgeous performance sound via the carefully tuned dual exhaust. The six-speed manual transmission is very forgiving - a pleasure to operate - and much more fun to drive than the boring automatic. :) The 645 is also a fantastic road trip vehicle - extremely comfortable for long periods of time. This is a chance to get into a truly amazing performance vehicle with low miles in excellent condition for a great price! |

Cadillac ATS-V and Mercedes-AMG C63 S pitted Head to Head
Fri, Sep 4 2015Our favorite (and only) Autoblog-alum-turned-Motor Trend staffer is back with another Head to Head video, this time pitting the Cadillac ATS-V with the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. This performance machine shootout is ostensibly a way to figure out which of these new super sedans will earn the right to go toe-to-toe with the undisputed champion of its segment, the BMW M3. In reality, it's just a really good excuse to put three of the hottest sedans on the market on video at the same time... and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Jonny Lieberman spends time in each of the two new challengers on the road, picking apart their powertrains, chassis and driving dynamics on the kinds of twisty roads drivers of these cars will relish. Then, he hands the keys off to Randy Pobst, who sort of acts as an unmasked version of a certain tame racing driver, except that he talks and has a personality. 0-60 and quarter-mile times are equated, braking performance is measured and scores are tallied before the two sport sedans end up at Willow Springs raceway. Interestingly enough, the car that proves (just slightly) faster at the race track isn't the car that wins the comparison. Curious? We're not going to spoil it for you. Check out the video, above. Then, for more action of these two machines, check out the videos just below. 2015 BMW X4 gets its small-screen debut
Thu, 26 Jun 2014It's easy to dismiss the 2015 BMW X4. On one hand, the high-style crossover seems more like a boardroom decision than a practical one. In a world with the 3 Series, 4 Series, X3, 3 Series GT and 4 Series Gran Coupe, is BMW really being inundated with requests for a baby X6? Of course, when we finally got behind the wheel of the CUV for our First Drive, it proved rather entertaining, and certainly the X6's global sales success suggests that it's worth the relatively low-cost risk for the Bavarian automaker.
Now, it's the general public's chance to weigh in on the latest crossover Bimmer and vote with their dollars. The X4 is just hitting showrooms in the US, and BMW is beginning its marketing campaign for it with the slogan "Embrace the Unknown." The first TV ad shows off the CUV driving through the world's major cities as they undulate like the rolling ocean. A woman flatly says phrases starting with "Go," while a synth-heavy score plays underneath that wouldn't be out of place over the end credits in an '80s sci-fi movie.
Visually, it's actually kind of a cool ad and evokes some of the special effects from Inception. Focusing on an urban atmosphere is probably a good idea, too, because the percentage of X4s going offroad is likely to be in the low single digits, if that. Now, let's see if BMW buyers are willing to embrace the unknown of the X4. Scroll down to watch it for yourself.
Are you a BMW M4 GTS track car in disguise?
Wed, 10 Sep 2014BMW is always happy to extract a little bit more gumption out of its M cars, just look at the latest 30th anniversary M5 or even the earlier CSL variants of the M3 for proof. Now, It looks like we might be getting the first glimpse of an even hotter M4, and it's wearing very interesting livery.
Our spies recently shot this M4 that could preview a future GTS version. It's all done up in MotoGP decals, but that might just be a ruse. This car sports a camouflaged lower air dam and rear wing, but those parts don't appear to be from an actual series safety car. The chin spoiler seems larger, and the rear wing is completely different. You can also spot an obvious Recaro logo on the driver's seat in one of the photos. Plus, the BMW emblem is removed at the back.
The disguised changes and odd choice of decals make this prototype incredibly weird. A BMW exec said at the beginning of the year that there were "no plans whatsoever to make a lighter, harder version just yet," of the M3 or M4, despite earlier rumors to the contrary. Check out the gallery to see what you think this is.
