The car has been well taken care of.  It comes with a massive binder of documents and receipts.   The original sticker price was $58,720.  The Bavarian Autosport Performance Chip, exhaust, cold air intake, bring the horspower up to around 260 out of the 3.5 liter inline six.  Some other modifications have also been made to help with the looks and performance such as the Alpina B10 package.  A set of modern 18" sport wheels in chrome with red pin striping look at home on the car.  Euro clear corners and smoked tails, plus Hella yello fogs add to the look.  The suspension is lowered with specialized spring and shocks and has an adjustable camber kit.  Out back a BIlly Boat exhaust provides the exhaust tone.   A raft of maintanance items have been completed recently in accordance with the 60,000 mile tune up, the car has 65,000 miles on it now.  This car drives and runs great.

The dealer I purchased the car from stated it was a real Alpina but I have not been able to substantiate it. The car may be a clone or a tribute car that has an aftermarket Alpina B10 appearance package instead of being an actual Alpina. If it is not an actual Alpina, it is a very good copy.

The importance of Angel Eyes, Ventiports and four round taillights

Sun, 01 Sep 2013

Just the other day, we told you about how Lincoln isn't really a luxury brand, according to Ford's head design man, J Mays. His argument was that Lincoln lacked the unique DNA to differentiate it from the rest of the market, although the arrival of the MKZ is beginning to change that. Now, we have this video from Autoline Detroit, where Jim Hall, an analyst for 2953 Analytics who was quoted in yesterday's Lincoln story, explains the influence of certain styling cues and how they impact the brands.
Using BMW (Angel Eyes) and Buick (Ventiports) as examples for small, simple touches that serve to distinguish the brand's vehicles on the road, Hall then points out how changing trademark styling features, as Chevrolet has done on the new Corvette Stingray, can hurt the vehicle's public perception. Take a look at the full video below for an interesting dive into what these styling features mean to their individual brands.

Behind the scenes of BMW's 'Drift Mob,' Part 1

Sat, 28 Jun 2014

Generally speaking, marketing and journalism don't mix, but every now and then, what goes into the marketing of a car - the 2015 BMW M235i, in this case - is worth documenting. In that spirit, we took BMW up on its offer to bring us behind the scenes of its upcoming "drift mob" video, starring five red M235i coupes frolicking around a traffic circle in a major world city (BMW has asked us to be coy about which one so as not to blow its cover before the shoot).
The five drivers can all be considered legends of modern-day drifting and stunt driving: Rhys Millen, Samuel Hübinette, Dai Yoshihara, Rich Rutherford and Conrad Grunewald.
As the only US media outlet in attendance, Autoblog plans to follow up with a full story on the experience once BMW polishes and releases the video in a month or so. In the meantime, check out our photos of this epic practice session we captured on our first day hanging with the crew, and be sure to watch this space for more behind-the-scenes action.

Wedding couple celebrates nuptials in the parking lot with donuts

Sat, 21 Dec 2013

Weddings are often joyous, fun-filled occasions full of revelry and some serious celebrating. And while we appreciate the fact that a couple is being joined together, we have a feeling a video like this could have very easily ruined said couple's big day.
It stars a bride, a groom and a BMW M3. But rather than the couple being in the car and laying down some rubber, the E46 M3 is doing donuts around the couple. We shouldn't have to explain why this is a bad idea - even if the driver is competent, this could have gone wrong pretty easily. Still, it didn't, and the end result is pretty cool.
Take a look below and let us know what you think in Comments.
