1983 BMW 633CSI 1 OWNER GA CAR NO RUST, SOUTHERN CAR NO RESERVE You are looking at my 1983 633csi. I acquired this one through a trade from a local BMW repair shop owner, he purchased 2 of my e12 5 series and I took this car as partial trade. I own several vintage BMW's so I thought I could use this one for parts, but upon further review the body on this car is in amazing condition, therefor I did not want to part it piece by piece but figured I would offer it here to someone who wants a great body to restore one or swap parts from their rusty car to this rust free car. I have 2 other e24's so I do not need this one. This is a complete car minus: DME, Exhaust and a few minor odds and ends that are not essential to a daily driver. I drove the car into the warehouse about 5 months ago and decided to sell the whole thing locally but have not had much interest, so here we go. The transmission leaks so it would not be a reliable daily driver. The body on this 6 is free of rust and the rockers and the rear wheel wells are near perfect and not rusted. The front bumper is in great shape and the rear bumper is pushed in on the drivers side as you can tell. The doors shut like they should, the hood lines up great as well as the trunk. Basically I am selling the shell and you get a free drivetrain and interior! Great start if you want to build an e24 as you will not find a more solid body. Cosmetically it is an old car. The paint has a few places of weak paint, the interior is that of a 30 year old car, the dash is cracked, rear speaker pods are descent and complete. The motor sounds great, tranny leaks and needs fixed or replaced. Again, I do not have any history on the car so I cannot tell you when the oil changes were done, you are bidding on a shell with a free interior and drivetrain. This is best suited for someone looking to restore their own car or use this as a blank slate. Payment must be made within 5 days of auction close via certified check or wire transfer, these are the only payment methods. Good luck. |

Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Awards honors GM Super Cruise, BMW i3
Wed, 16 Oct 2013Our friends at Popular Mechanics have announced the winners of their 2013 Breakthrough Awards, which honor innovations and new technologies in a variety of fields, ranging from medicine to electronics to space travel. Among the winners were a pair of automakers.
The BMW i3 was named one of PM's product breakthroughs, and while the diminutive city car has a range comparable to other electrics, Popular Mechanics was impressed the i3's use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, which allows the i3 to tip the scales at just 2,800 pounds. But the i3's space-age materials wouldn't have been such a smash if it were priced beyond what the general public could afford. BMW's ability to offer a vehicle with such an advanced construction for around $42,000 (nearly half the price of the Cadillac ELR and only about $7,000 more than a Chevrolet Volt or Ford Focus Electric) is wildly impressive and speaks volumes about the future of ultra-light composites in the auto industry.
The other big winner comes from General Motors, which was named an Innovator this year for its semi-autonomous Super Cruise technology that's currently being tested on a Cadillac SRX. The technology, which we've reported on before, combines adaptive cruise control and lane centering into a super system that will allow hands-free driving under certain conditions.
BMW-Toyota partnership to spawn hybrid supercar
Wed, 06 Nov 2013BMW and Toyota inked a partnership some time ago to develop green technology, and while we were excited by the idea of a reborn Supra with BMW's carbon fiber reinforced plastic slashing the curb weight or an ultra-efficient, hybridized 1 Series, the joint efforts have been rather limited. That's set to change, though, according to a report from Australia.
Motoring reports that the partners have come to terms on a sports car. And not just any sports car, but a lightweight, hybridized model, with a six-figure price tag. Lending a bit of street cred to that idea is the site's claim that Toyota is currently carrying out durability testing on the BMW i8. According to the site, the new model will slot into the spot left by the Lexus LFA, although based on the language used, it's unclear if this is the Tokyo-bound vehicle we mentioned several months ago.
Details on this potential car are limited, although Motoring claims it will use a Toyota hybrid system mated up to a BMW gas engine - likely the 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 found in the M5 and M6. That sounds pretty amazing to us, but we'd still advise taking this with a grain of salt. What would you like to see out of a joint-venture supercar from Toyota and BMW? Let us know in Comments, and have your say on the prospects of a hybridized, twin-turbocharged V8.
BMW pondering hardcore M4 to celebrate 100 years?
Thu, 03 Oct 20132013 is the year for Lamborghini, Aston Martin and the Porsche 911, but 2016 will be the year for BMW. That's when the Munich-based maker of the Ultimate Driving Machine will celebrate its 100th birthday, with what will probably be a year-long celebration. Part of that 365-day party will, reportedly, be an even hotter version of the new BMW M4, which is set to debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show.
Yes, according to Australia's Car Sales, the über-M4 has been hinted at by higher-ups at BMW's M division, who claim the rear seats will be removed, much like the M3 GTS, while other weight-saving measures will be used to try and bring the M4's weight below 3,000 pounds. There's no mention of engine mods, but if the M4's biturbocharged six is as good as we think it'll be, that's not a deal-breaker for us.
The lightening process on the so-called M4 GTS would involve replacing the hood and front fenders with parts made of carbon fiber, while the doors would switch from steel to aluminum. Besides the deletion of the rear seats, Car Sales is predicting lightweight racing buckets, with a carbon-fiber shell and a minimal amount of padding. Expect lots and lots of Alcantara, in place of leather.
