1978 BMW 633 CSi Coupe

Here for auction is my 1978 BMW 633 CSi Coupe, standard shift manual transmission. The car is completely original except for upgraded M3 Alloy wheels and Blaupunkt stereo system. It is grey with accented white pinstripe and beige / tan leather interior.

As for a little history, the car was imported from Italy in 1986 by my late father's neighbor. It was modified to U.S. specs (still German labeling on the components!) and registered in Connecticut. The neighbor had kept the car garaged for years with little to no use and I felt inclined to rescue it as I made the purchase in 2002, not registering it immediately myself. It is a very cool car and has that European flair to it, otherwise I no longer have the space to garage it myself so I have to let it go.

The odometer currently reads 68,500 and does not seem to function. In the ten years plus I have owned it I do not believe I have put more than 500 miles on the car, as I have hardly had the time to drive it myself.

The paint is original grey color as I mentioned earlier, but appears to have dulled and faded on the top over time. The trunk paint shines nicely along with the hood and sides, along with the pinstripe detail being a nice touch. The tool kit is mostly intact and I do have the original "turbine" style wheels.

The car runs and drives well and was recently registered in CT. As mentioned earlier, I no longer have the room to store the car so your loss is my gain.

I am asking $7,000 and willing to show the car by appointment. Feel free to e-mail or call at (203) 485-0172 to have any questions or arrange a time to see. I live in Greenwich, CT.

Thanks for looking!

BMW recalls over 76k 2012-2014 models over brake failure

Sat, 28 Sep 2013

Bimmerfest is reporting that BMW has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of its intention to voluntarily recall more than 75,000 3 Series, 5 Series, X1, X3 and Z4 models due to a possible loss of power brake assist that could result in the vehicles failing to stop. The recall affects 2012-2014 models equipped with either the N20 or N26 engine produced from May 2012 to August 2013. Until recall repairs have been performed, BMW dealers will discontinue selling or delivering any affected vehicles in their inventories.
The problem has been traced to restricted oil supply from the intake camshaft to the brake vacuum pump, which may cause the brake vacuum pump to fail, resulting in a loss of power brake assist. While the hydraulic brakes will still function, the driver must much apply greater pedal pressure and the distance required to stop the vehicle will increase.
BMW has reported three minor accidents with no confirmed injuries. According to Bimmerfest, drivers who encounter a braking problem should "pull the emergency brake and apply as much brake pedal pressure as possible. If your BMW has an electronic parking brake pull up and hold the switch to engage the brake." Drivers should then park in a safe location and contact BMW Roadside Assistance.

M235i outpoints 911, Corvette in CR testing, becomes highest-scoring BMW ever

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

Good news just keeps coming for BMW, as Consumer Reports has just handed out a stunner of a verdict - the M235i, a spritely, 320-horsepower coupe that starts at just $43,100 has bested the likes of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Porsche 911, vehicles that can easily cost twice as much and come to battle with considerably more power.
CR awarded the spiritual successor to the 1 Series M Coupe a score of 98 out of 100, beating out the 911 and the Stingray by three and six points, respectively. In fact, the M235i is remarkably close to the Tesla Model S' 99, making it one of the highest scores CR has ever handed out. It's also, not surprisingly, the highest-rated BMW ever.
Of the M235i's many attributes, Consumer Reports cited the car's performance potential as well as its quiet ride and comfort for front-seat passengers. While it's a shock to no one, CR called out the limited space in the backseats as well as some finicky controls as this Bimmer's biggest shortcomings.
