I WILL ADD MORE PICS SOON. If interested, call/text me at 818.385.5796 for quickest response. I can email or text more pics. car is in zip 91343. I am happy to take more pictures and provide any other details you'd like.

I have had this car for a few years, it is a 4 speed stick, light green exterior, tan interior. VIN is #195. The body is straight, clearcoat peeling in places, some minor rust spots. Carpets, seats, door panels (one is blue) and headliner are all in pretty good shape. Dash has cracks. Unsure as to mileage. Doesn't smoke or overheat. It was running and driving well, butit stopped running today and now it doesn't have spark. I replaced the cap rotor and points because they were pretty worn, but it didn't seem to help. It might just be the condenser, or the coil as it is getting voltage to the coil, but the coil isn't sending voltage to the distributor. Clean title in my name, current tags, no tickets, the last time it was smogged it shocked the smog tech at how clean it ran (1/2 the average rating). Fun car, just needs work. I was planning on keeping it...the E24s are coming back up in value, so this being a low vin number it might be worth holding on to.

New parts:

Radiator (previous owner)
Clutch fan
Alternator
temp sensor(s)
sensor for cold start injector
Fuel pump & filter
cold start injector
thermostat
Tires
wheel bearings

Parts waiting to be installed

oil pan gasket
Front strut cartridges
lower control arms
Fog lights (bosch)
subframe bushings
A/C solenoid sensor

Flex disc for driveshaft, spare computer (Not needed at this time, but I will include with sale), more parts have been installed that I am forgetting.

I'm regretfully selling it because I don't have the money to get the new parts I bought installed. I've decided to move closer to work and won't need a car any longer. I'll take cash offers as well.

BMW bringing special Horse Edition 7 Series to Beijing

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

The Beijing Motor Show is just a couple of weeks away, and BMW wouldn't miss out on the opportunity to show off its latest wares to one of its most vital markets. So when the doors open in Beijing, BMW will showcase the new 2 Series Active Tourer, 2 Series Coupe, M3 and M4, 4 Series Gran Coupe and X4. It will also introduce the i3 and i8 to China for the first time. But those are all models we've seen already. What's new is... wait for it... the 7 Series Horse Edition.
Not celebrating horses so much as the Year of the Horse, this special edition 7 Series is based on the long-wheelbase model and comes with all manner of M equipment packages, a special paint job from BMW Individual and unique touches inside and out. BMW isn't saying which engine it features, but it sells the series in China in 730Li, 740Li, 750Li, 760Li and ActiveHybrid forms, with rear- or all-wheel drive. Given that the one pictured is wearing an xDrive badge, it would have to be either the 740Li or 750Li, but buyers will presumably be able to order it in whichever spec they desire.
While it may not be as exciting as the 9 Series concept BMW is rumored to have lined up for the Beijing show as well, you can bet that the Bavarian automaker will find plenty of buyers for this extra-special, extra-Chinese, extra-equestrian luxury sedan, and command a healthy premium from each and every one of them.

BMW i8's three-cylinder sounds like it's shaping up quite nicely

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

We've run across some rather interesting news... or perhaps we should say interesting sounds. The folks from Bimmerpost have scrounged up a short video showing a preproduction BMW i8 running through a few gears in Sport mode at a quick pace, and if you were concerned that the somewhat eco-friendly nature of the upcoming German sports car would neuter its ability to stir the aural senses, fret not.
Judging by the lovely noise coming from the engine compartment of the i8 in the video, BMW's expertise in tuning high-strung, small-bore engines - remember, BMW Motorrad has quite the penchant for well-conceived motorcycle engines - has come through loud and clear. Now, it's worth mentioning that BMW's controversial Active Sound technology will be included with the i8, so the production car may not sound exactly like this version, which is running with the tech disabled. Owners won't have the ability to disable Active Sound on production i8s.
In related news, Bimmerpost reports that BMW will equip the i8 with an external Active Sound Design system to go along with its Pedestrian Protection System. That means those on the outside will likely hear piped engine recordings from the rear and a sort of "howl" from the front in order to warn pedestrians that the otherwise quiet (when running on electricity, that is) car is approaching. It will also feature technology that can stop the car before contacting a pedestrian.

BMW, Ferrari, VW cars use tungsten mined by terrorists

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bloomberg Markets is reporting that BMW, Volkswagen and Ferrari have been using tungsten ore sourced from Columbia's FARC rebel terrorists. The extensive story focuses on Columbia's illegal mining trade and calls into question the provenance of the rare ore that is used not only in crankshaft parts production, but is also found in the world's computing and telecommunications industry for use in screens.
The ore is mined by the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army), and exported to Pennsylvania, where it is refined. The refined ore is then sent over to Austria, where a company called Plansee turns it into a finished product. Now, it's important to note that we aren't talking about the world's supply of tungsten here. In 2012, Plansee's American refinery purchased 93.2 metric tons of tungsten, valued at $1.8 million. That's peanuts, with the entire Colombian tungsten mining industry producing just one percent of the world's supplies.
That doesn't make indirectly supporting FARC any more acceptable, though. BMW, VW and Ferrari are all committed to not accepting mineral supplies from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also in the grips of a guerrilla insurrection funded, in part, by illegal mining. The same commitment would figure to extend to Colombian mining, but as BMW points out, it's difficult for a multi-national manufacturer to know where every item in its supply chain comes from. A company spokesperson says as much, telling Bloomberg, "These few grams out of the billions of tons of raw materials passing through the BMW supply chain are of no practical relevance."
