Hello, I am selling my beautiful 1983 633csi. I need an economical vehicle and would consider a trade for a lower mileage quality vehicle that get 25 to 35 mpg. I live in Anaheim CA and I currently have the car stored their. You are welcome to inspect the car but we would need to coordinate doing so.

The car body, engine and transmission are in great condition. Engine runs strong, and it drives like a dream. Automatic transmission shifts smoothly. This car was babied. I purchased it a few years ago from a rather well off family who purchased it for their son who was going away to college. Little did they know, that their son was actually unable to have a car at college for his first year. So, instead of leaving it out in the weather, they decided to sell it. Me, (being a lover of classic cars) decided to purchase it. I am the third owner. The original owner used it as a Sunday driver. It was parked in his garage most of the time. He purchased it brand new in 83' and kept it well maintained. I have all of his receipts and papers about the maintenance and services done to the car. My father and I have tuned it and changed the oil ourselves since I have had it. My dad also had a professional window tint done on it a few years ago which makes it look even cooler.

This is a quality BMW driving machine but please remember it is a 30 year old classic. Here are some of the things to consider:

The 633 recently has a different color passenger fender due to someone denting the original in a parking lot. The paint is rather nice and clean, despite a few minor scratches. The air conditioning does not work but I have always liked just opening the sun roof and and enjoying the real air! The heater recently stopped working. The original leather interior is in very good condition, except for the driver and passenger seats, those have a tear on them. The rear passenger window does not roll down ( I assume it is the electric switch). The wheels are custom 16" chrome and could use some elbow grease to clean up better. Tires are ok for a few more thousand miles probably.

Despite those few minor faults, the car is gorgeous and as we all know it is a classic. Restored 633's sell for 10K or more and this one with minimal work and investment could be worth $5K to $7K. It is fully driveable and capable of going cross country if needed. It is registered till March 2015.

Upcoming new BMW X6 leaks out ahead of full reveal

    Thu, 05 Jun 2014

The X5 may have been the first BMW crossover on the market when it arrived in 2000, opening the door to more high-riding Bavarians to follow, but it's been replaced twice over now. The X3 is on its second generation, and with the X1 having been introduced in 2009 and the X4 soon to hit showrooms, that makes the X6 - introduced in 2008 - the oldest crossover in the BMW lineup. But it won't be for much longer.
Soon BMW will reveal the all-new X6, based on the latest X5 but with that tell-tale slanted roofline. But before it gets the chance, a handful of images have leaked their way all over the Internet to give us an advance look at what to expect.
The overall shape of the new X6 comes across as familiar, if a bit less of an awkward take on the vehicle that (for better or worse) launched the crossover coupe segment. Up front the twin kidney grilles and headlights are larger, in keeping with the latest BMW design language, and the bumper less horizontal and more dynamic. Towards the back there's a sharp crease above the wheel arch blending into the more rakishly shaped tail lights, while the metallic vent behind the front wheel arch lends the flank an even sportier appearance.

Thanks to smaller engines, vehicle dependability falls for first time in 16 years

    Fri, Feb 14 2014

As automakers have made engines smaller and smaller to improve fuel economy, problems in those vehicles have gotten bigger and bigger. That's the synopsis of a J.D. Power vehicle-dependability study, which found that dependability dropped for the first time in 16 years, largely because the proliferation of four-cylinder engines is causing the vehicles to be less reliable. Specifically, the number of problems per 100 vehicles (or what J.D. Power calls PP100) during the past 12 months for 2011 model-year vehicles rose six percent from the year-earlier figures for 2010 model-year cars. Singling out four-cylinder vehicles revealed about a 10-percent increase in problems during the past year. This issues largely related to engine hesitation, rough transmission shifting and lack of power, signaling the inability of vehicle makers to iron out some of the problems in their smaller engines as they strove for better fuel economy. Six- and five-cylinder engines proved far more reliable. Among car brands, BMW's Mini sub-brand came out as least reliable, with 185 problems per 100 vehicles during the past year. Toyota's Lexus badge was easily the most reliable, with just 68 problems per 100 vehicles. Coming in second place was Mercedes-Benz. The overall average was 133. Check out J.D. Power's press release below. J.D. Power Reports: Increased Engine and Transmission Problems Contribute to Decline in Vehicle Dependability for The First Time in More Than 15 Years General Motors Company Receives Eight Segment Awards, While Toyota Motor Corporation Garners Seven and Honda Motor Company Earns Six WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.: o Owners of 3-year-old vehicles (2011 model year) report more problems than did owners of 3-year-old vehicles last year, according to the J.D. Power 2014 U.S. Vehicle Dependability StudySM (VDS) released today. The study, now in its 25th year, examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2011 model-year vehicles. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The study finds that overall vehicle dependability averages 133 PP100, a 6 percent increase in problems from 126 PP100 in 2013. This marks the first time since the 1998 study that the average number of problems has increased. "Until this year, we have seen a continual improvement in vehicle dependability," said David Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D.

BMW 6 Series Convertible gets a little work done for 2015

    Sat, 02 Aug 2014

Truth be told, I've never really found the modern BMW 6 Series to be a particularly attractive car, in Coupe, Convertible, or sedan Gran Coupe forms. This current generation certainly looks a whole lot better than the Bangle-fied Six that came before it to my eyes, but on the whole, I find much of the car's design to be fussy and awkward. There's a new 6 Series on the way, scheduled to arrive sometime in 2017 or 2018, but to hold us over until then, BMW is freshening its current range, as evidenced by this convertible prototype our trusty spies recently caught testing.
Will the changes to the current 6 Series be an improvement? Perhaps. Up front, there are restyled headlamps and a new front bumper, and at the rear, BMW has redesigned the LED taillamps to bring them more in line with the rest of the company's offerings. Aside from those modest tweaks, we don't expect much more to change on the Big Six - the interior will likely carry over with some minor tweaks (or new colors), and it's possible the powertrains could be massaged gently for gains in either power, efficiency, or both.
Whether you think this new look is pretty or not, this freshened 6 Series will likely debut sometime next year, while BMW's engineers and designers craft the all-new version. See it from several angles in our gallery, above.
