Low Mileage, Really Nice 1995 Bmw 525i: A Classic! on 2040-cars
Middlebury, Vermont, United States
I bought this car on eBay a couple of months ago; I had owned one years ago and it stands out as the best car I have owned (and I've owned 22!). In truth, it was an impulse, emotion-and-nostalgia-fueled purchase that I can't justify keeping given a busy work travel schedule, two small children, and a lot going on. Here is your chance to own a REALLY nice classic 5-series and to let my rash decision get you a great deal. This generation 5-series is among the very best cars that BMW has ever built. With proper care, the engines and transmissions last forever, the cars tend not to rust (this one has NO rust at all), and they offer a truly remarkable balance of sporty handling, luxurious appointments, and long-range comfort. Check out what owners say about this car on consumer review boards such as Edmunds and you will see that this is a beloved car by many (including me). This particular car is incredibly well-preserved. It has 76,250 miles (it will have a few more by the time it sells) and had one owner until I bought it. I had the car given a full run-through at my trusted local mechanic's shop. He said that it is in great shape. He installed a new battery, replaced the thermostat, performed an alignment, and gave the car an oil/fluids service. The ONLY problems I know of are an occasional "low coolant" warning light that is in fact a bad sensor in the radiator. My mechanic says that it's a cheap part but one that will entail a few hours of labor, so I just ignore it when it comes on. The coolant level is fine; there are no leaks, the radiator is in good shape, and the engine runs at the correct temperature. It's just an old and therefore finicky sensor. Also, the glove box has come off its hinge, so when it opens it hangs down. It stays closed just fine. Overall condition is terrific, as the pics show. Up close, there are a few spots where the previous owner has applied paint touch-ups for road chips, but this is as nice as a 19-year-ol BMW can get without being a show piece. I would not hesitate to drive it cross country. My reserve is THOUSANDS less than I paid, because I paid high retail given the car's amazing condition and because I know that I'll never get dealer pricing for it. This is a nice car that is reliable and well-cared-for. I wish that I could keep it, but that just doesn't make sense for me right now and I am selling to undo my impulse decision. My decision to sell has nothing to do with the car--it's great. I bought it with my heart and not with my brain (or my wife's strong objections to a 3rd car) at the forefront of my thoughts. You can pick the car up locally (in Middlebury, Vermont) or you can arrange and pay for shipping. I am willing to discuss letting you drive it home on my plates and insurance if that helps, and I am certainly willing to help a shipper take delivery of the car for you. |

2014 BMW 328d xDrive Sport Wagon
Fri, 11 Apr 2014There's a running joke among auto writers that the perfect car would be a diesel-powered, rear-drive wagon with manual transmission and no power accessories whatsoever. It would only be available in brown and would somehow be as fun to drive as a Mazda MX-5 Miata. Makes total sense, right?
Realistically, no manufacturer is ever going to completely fulfill our wishes, no matter how much we beg, plead, kick and scream about our dream car that most of us would actually never buy. The best we can do is hope for a vehicle that mixes some aspects of this ideal journalist's car. And in today's world, that vehicle just might be the BMW 328d xDrive Sport Wagon.
No, it's not available with a manual gearbox, and power can only be sent through an xDrive all-wheel-drive system. It's also not available in brown (although both Mojave Metallic and Sparkling Bronze Metallic are acceptable stand-ins), but it ticks the two main boxes of being a diesel-powered wagon, one of only a couple such models in the United States.
BMW M4 Convertible poised for Goodwood unveil
Sat, 22 Mar 2014It shouldn't be a shock that BMW is working on a convertible version of the M4. Not only have we caught it testing twice, but this is an automaker that seems willing to build a vehicle for nearly every buyer's needs. Evo claims that the high-performance droptop is going to debut at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed in England from June 26-29.
Judging from the spy shots we've seen, the M4 Convertible will consist of a retractable hard top like the 4 Series cabrio. Other than the roof, there aren't expected to be many changes from the coupe. The engine will be the same turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, but the added weight of the roof and its mechanism may take a small bite out of performance.
We spoke to BMW USA about the rumor and were told that it has no comment at this time. After the M4 Convertible, Evo claims that BMW is working on a M4 Gran Coupe. How that would be all that different from an M3, isn't exactly clear.
2014 BMW 6 Series gets Frozen Brilliant White convertible, manual option for M6
Mon, 25 Mar 2013BMW has announced updates to the 6 Series lineup today, including a special "Frozen" edition of the convertible, and a 640i Gran Coupe in all-wheel-drive trim.
The 2014 BMW 6 Series Convertible Frozen Brilliant White Edition (catchy name, right?) will be available from select BMW dealers this May, and will offer buyers the signature paint, Frozen Black mirror caps, a black grille and uniquely designed, 20-inch M Performance wheels. Just 100 examples of the FBWE 6er will be produced, with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive cars in the mix, for starting prices of $106,995 and $110,095, respectively (both prices include $895 in destination and handling charges).
BMW has also informed us that all of its 6 Series Gran Coupe models will now be available with the company's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. No pricing has been given for the xDrive versions of the car as of yet.
