Very-well maintained by a picky owner. Dinan trans. programming and Dinan rear diff. No accidents ever, as far as I know. Lifetime non-smoker (car and occupants!). Very clean. M5 front bumper cover. Lowered, upgraded very firm (but not particularly harsh) suspension. This car is well-sorted, reliable, and very powerful. Everything is working, including the a/c, which is very important lately! Recent (over the past 5000 miles or so) work includes four new tires (265/235-19), new front brake pads, new power steering hoses, new engine mounts, belts, coolant level sensor, intake gaskets, valve-cover gaskets, timing cover gaskets, battery, Mobil 1 (15W-50) oil change plus filter (performed last week), spark plugs, one coil, and a secondary throttle solenoid and cable (DSC parts).
This car is an absolute blast to drive, and generates lots of 'nice car!' comments. It can be a sleeper if you drive gently, and is much like a stock pre-VANOS 540i in terms of acceleration up to about 3000 rpm, then pulls very, very hard after that. No top-speed limiter, I think. I'm not brave enough to find out, nor is it safe enough to try that on public roads, in my opinion. This car might do an honest 175, I don't know. I have not tracked it, but it would be awesome at a Driver's School, I suspect. Dinan does very thorough engineering work, and uses high-quality parts, and this car shows it. The transmission shifts very crisply, especially in Sport mode, and shows no sign of weakness, as far as I can tell. It is pre-wired for and has the remote head unit for a Valentine one. It has satellite radio (though I have never used that feature - I like the sounds of the engine better, or a CD in the Premium Sound system). It has HID headlamps and LED taillights. It has an alarm, although I pulled th fuse on it because it squawked every time you locked/unlocked the doors, and that annoyed me. I'm not a fan of alarms.
I am only selling this because I am purchasing a V-10 M5. Hate to see it go, but I just can't justify or store so many cars (even though I have tried...).

Electrified BMW X1 spotted testing
Tue, 09 Apr 2013So here's something interesting. This might look like an ordinary BMW X1, but take a closer glance - those stickers on the side read "hybrid test vehicle," and around back, there doesn't appear to be a tailpipe at all. But does this mean that BMW is working on a straight-up all-electric version of its smallest crossover? Let's hypothesize for a moment.
Just because we can't see a tailpipe in these photographs doesn't mean there isn't one somewhere under there. And while those hybrid stickers are an indication that there's some sort of electrification going on underhood, it could just be for a forthcoming gasoline-electric version of the X1. Lexus recently confirmed it would be bringing a small hybrid CUV to market that will compete in the X1's space, so perhaps BMW is working on another powertrain option to offer when its littlest crossover gets refreshed.
Also consider that Toyota collaborated with Tesla to bring back the RAV4 EV, which would sort of compete with the X1, so it also stands to reason that perhaps this is an early test mule for a larger all-electric vehicle in the upcoming, eco-minded BMW i range. Our spies seem pretty confident that the prototype seen here is indeed an all-out EV, but we just can't say with certainty without more evidence.
Your guide to vehicle subscription services
Mon, Oct 1 2018They might be extremely limited in scope because of location availability, but vehicle subscription services are a growing trend that most luxury manufacturers are jumping on. Plans are expensive, but you're paying for much more than just the car typically. We highlighted four of the larger plans with a few more listed at the end. Care by Volvo Volvo launched its subscription service last year with its brand-new XC40. It was the only vehicle available for a time, but subscribers can now get an S60 sedan as well. Subscriptions are for two years, with the monthly price including insurance, a concierge service, wear-and-tear item replacements and all maintenance. You'll be able to drive 15,000 miles per year with whichever Volvo you choose, and although there are no options to extend that mileage, you can swap cars after a year. Pricing for the XC40 is $650 per month in base trim, while an S60 can be as expensive as $850 for the R-Design. Volvo's plan is to offer more cars soon through the service, but it's relatively limited compared to others right now. Porsche Passport Porsche has two levels in its subscription service: Launch and Accelerate. Launch will cost $2,000 per month and give you access to the Cayman, Boxster, Macan and Cayenne. All of those but the Cayenne can be had in "S" trim as well. Accelerate is where the fun really starts. For $3,000 per month you can choose from a fleet of 911s, including the S, 4S, Cabriolet and Cabriolet S. If those aren't enough, you can also get the Panamera 4S, Macan GTS and Cayenne S. There are no mileage limits and you can change vehicles as often as you'd like. Also included in the price is insurance, repairs, detailing and any maintenance. It might be extremely expensive and limited to Atlanta only, but this subscription service is second-to-none for what you get. Audi Select Audi just launched its subscription car service, and it's offered in one version for a flat fee of $1,395 per month. For that you'll have access to five different cars including the A4, S5 Coupe, A5 Cabriolet, Q5, and Q7. Not a bad range of vehicles, but it would've been neat to see the recently updated A7 in there too. Maybe in time. Like the others, insurance and maintenance are wrapped up in the price. Audi is allowing for unlimited miles and two car swaps per month here. In addition to that, you'll get two days of free rentals through Audi's Silvercar rental agency should you go on a trip.
X1, 3 Series power BMW back into global luxury autos sales lead
Thu, 14 Mar 2013BMW managed to eke ahead of Audi for the global luxury sales crown in February. According to Bloomberg, BMW saw deliveries swell by 7 percent in February, besting the 3.2 percent jump enjoyed by Audi and giving BMW a 407-unit delivery lead over its rival last month. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, continued to falter, with the brand selling some 37,229 fewer machines than BMW, whose factories are running at full capacity to keep up with demand. Models like the X1 (shown above) enjoyed a sales increase of 40 percent in February while the company's bread-and-butter 3 Series jumped by 26 percent.
Mercedes-Benz hopes to stem its continued market share loss with the addition of the entry-level CLA sedan to its portfolio in April. The company is set to roll out an updated version of its cash-cow E-Class at the same time, and a new-generation S-Class will follow along shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the company is increasing production to meet demand for its A and B-Class models.
