1994 BMW 530i V8 Touring Wagon. I've owned this neat old bus for 5 years and it has been a great car. Due to a change in circumstances, she has to go. This particular car is a rarer 3.0 V8 and runs very well. As of now I know of no mechanical problems whatsoever. She runs and shifts very smoothly. All the stuff you need, heat, A/C, lights, wipers, windows, mirrors, locks work as intended. The sunroof worked all last summer, but last week, when I tried to open it after a few months, made a clicking sound that was new. I decided to leave well enough alone and did not force the issue. I bought a new seal for it over the winter that will go with the car. The passenger seat power is also non op. Rear wiper is intermittent. Driver's seat needs a recover and the headliner is sagging. Other than that, she has new tires and OEM powder coated BMW wheels. All books and tools, factory full size spare. Rear cargo area cover and both safety nets. She doesn't leak, smoke, overheat or make any horrible noises. Tracks straight and true well over 100 MPH. Brakes straight as well. I've maintained the car professionally with all BMW recommended parts and fluids. Regular oil changes, tires, alignments, brakes, etc. Trans rebuilt, $2500, 2 years ago.

This is a very fast stable car that I drive everywhere.  This is a 20 year old car and she'll have some issues. I drive her everyday, so stuff that I'm used to you may not be so cool with. SO, please call, 240-626-9032 or email with any questions. I've sold a lot of cars on ebay and everybody has been happy. I do not want that to change with this one.

Please understand I assume you know what you are doing and you have an understanding of the vagaries surrounding the purchase of an older, classic car.  Do not bid if you are not going to buy. If you are new to ebay or have really bad feedback, contact me prior to bidding. Please do not waste my time. Ask any and all questions pertaining to the vehicle BEFORE you buy. If you win, a  non refundable $500 deposit through PAYPAL is required within 12 hours of auctions end. Balance will be by cash or wire transfer. The cars will not leave my possession until all funds have cleared. Transport is up to the buyer and I'll help all I can.

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands

China probing German automakers over spare parts

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

The Chinese market has proven to be a boon to German luxury automakers. However, the way that the companies have allegedly been controlling their supply of spare parts has begun to draw the ire of the nation's government. According to insiders speaking to Bloomberg, officials from the country's economic planning organization have opened a probe into Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and some Japanese carmakers over claimed price inflation and limiting supply.
Specifically, the investigation centers around two aspects of how the companies do business, according to Bloomberg. Investigators want to know whether the original equipment component makers are able to sell spare parts only to automaker-authorized dealers or if they are also available to independent shops. There is also the issue of whether the price markup on replacement pieces is too high. The tight controls could be partially explained by China's reputation for producing counterfeit parts.
Evidently, the investigators haven't checked parts prices at car dealers elsewhere in the world. At least in the US, paying more at the dealer for factory components just goes along with owning a vehicle. If evidence of price fixing is found, the companies could face fines the equivalent of millions of dollars, according to Bloomberg.

10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.
