Looking to sell or trade my 1984 BMW 533i. This model was only made in 1983 and 1984, and is known to be quicker than its' later 535i counterpart. This is also an early 1984 model, meaning it has the light flywheel from the factory, a very popular upgrade for later years. NADA low retail is $4,150, but I want nowhere near that. Yes, the listing is long, but I am being 100% honest about the car. I don't like to hide stuff by just saying "needs work" like others like to do.
3.2L Straight six, 180hp. 178,000 miles.
I originally got it to restore, but then got overwhelmed and decided to part with it. The car is 100% complete, and DOES need work/towed. Remember, this is a 29 year old car.
The good -
-It runs and runs well. Before the slave cylinder went bad, I was driving it almost daily.
-Service indicator on the cluster has been disabled. I managed to remove the battery before it had a chance to ruin the cluster.
-It is 100% complete with the exception of the factory radio and factory rims.
-Not many of these exist anymore. It was a head turner when I drove it around.
-Still has the toolkit! Some tools are missing, but it's rare to even have the kit at all anymore.
-Has a set of nice 15" Borbet 5 spoke rims.
-The interior is in surprisingly good shape for a 29 year old euro car.
-Includes a $70 Bentley e28 repair manual that still looks brand new.
The bad -
-Has all the typical BMW e28 rust. There is a large rot hole in the trunk where the bumper support used to be. This is a very common issue with the e28.
-The doors have rust, and there is rust around the license plate light holes. Both common areas. The hood also has rust.
-The power windows work when they want to. I was told that the power window switch contacts are most likely the issue.
-Windshield is cracked.
-Front bumper is crooked from being bumped. Shouldn't be too hard to get it back into alignment. I can see under the hood where it's bent, and it's not too bad. (This is the accident the Autocheck mentions.)
-Needs shifter plate bushings (another common issue)
-Needs to have the slave cylinder replaced or rebuilt for the clutch. It went out on me in October, which was the last time I drove the car.
-Needs a few things here and there. After completing the bodywork and the repairs it needs, it will be a very nice car.
Pictures are only available on request.
I am looking to get $2500 or best reasonable offer OR straight up trade for a 1998+ Crown Vic/Marquis, 1998 or later pickup truck (manual), or anything 1998 or later that doesn't have a timing belt. I will however, consider other vehicles, as long as they aren't a 4 cylinder. I am not stiff on the price, but bear in mind, I will not accept offers unless you come and look at the car first.
Serious buyers only! Only contact me if you are interested, as I am looking for a quick sale to get back on my feet with a job. Thanks! No calls, no texts.

BMW i3 misses top Euro safety rating [w/videos]
Wed, 27 Nov 2013The Euro NCAP just tested a recent batch of new cars including the 2014 BMW i3, and the EV Bimmer scored less-than-perfect results. Though not horrible, BMW's all-electric/range-extended i3 was given a four-star (out of five possible) crash rating due to concerns with front-occupant whiplash and side-impact protection.
Based on the crash results, the BMW provided suitable protection for occupants in the frontal, side barrier, pedestrian and child-seat tests, but the i3 was tripped up when it came to the more severe side pole test and the rear-impact test. The pole test showed protection to the chest of the test dummy was "weak," and the front seats only provided "marginal" protection against whiplash for front passengers. Scroll down to watch two videos released by the Euro NCAP of the i3 being tested.
BMW reclaims US luxury sales crown from Mercedes
Tue, Jan 6 2015The numbers, they are in: BMW has reclaimed the luxury-sales crown from Mercedes by a margin of 9,347 cars. Mercedes donned the king's headgear in 2013 after a strong final quarter of 2013 when the new CLA and S-Class poured out of dealerships. This year, led by the 3 Series/4 Series and X5, BMW sold 339,738 units – a 9.8-percent increase year-on-year. Mercedes, led by the C-Class and M-Class, saw its sales go up by 5.7 percent to 330,391 units. We'll have to wait a bit to see if there's another registrations-vs-sales challenge as in 2012, when BMW was anointed US luxury ruler. Behind them, a dark horse named Lexus nudged closer to the leading Teutons, selling 311,389 cars. The Japanese luxury automaker also had the biggest gain among the top three, its sales rising by 13.7 percent compared to 2013. Audi had the biggest sales of anyone among the top five, though, with a 15.2-percent gain to 182,011, which moved it a spot ahead of Cadillac; the Wreath-and-Crest brand dropped 6.5 percent to 170,750. Acura (167,843), Infiniti (117,300), and Lincoln (94,474) took the final positions. Speaking of Lincoln, sales at the once-mighty luxury marque stand as the mightiest jump of any on this list, up 15.6 percent. That's the power of Matthew McConaughey... and better cars and a new crossover, sure. So now that we're back to Round One of 2015, in case no one else has said it yet: "Ok, fight!"
2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe
Fri, 06 Jun 2014It's hard to say what a coupe is anymore. Is it merely a car with two doors? Does it have to have an arching roofline? Do frameless windows count for anything? Can a five-door hatchback or even an SUV be a coupe? At some point in the last few years, nearly everything we thought made a coupe a coupe has been challenged by something that calls itself a coupe, but to most people isn't. Our friends at BMW have led most of this line of questioning.
The new 2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is one of the latest Bimmers to challenge the moniker (which also challenges the idea of "Gran," for that matter), and unlike some of its other "coupe" variations - we're looking at you, X6 - this one is a pretty one. The 4 Series Gran Coupe is essentially a four-door version of the 4 Series, which is itself a two-door version of the 3 Series. Huh? Wouldn't that simply make it another 3 Series? Of course, but this one is prettier, as it uses the 4's sexier body styling, with its lower nose, wider-looking stance and edgier lighting graphics. It is also technically a five-door hatchback, not a sedan per se, and it utilizes frameless side door glass, which apparently does count for something in BMW coupe-land. Significantly, the 4 Gran Coupe's wheelbase is identical to the two-door; if it was longer - as is the case with the 3 Series and 5 Series hatchbacks - that might make it a "Gran Turismo." Confused yet?
We recently got our first chance to drive the 4 Series Gran Coupe at a press launch in Spain, and while the only version we were given was a rear-drive 428i Gran Coupe with the M Sport contents, the harrowing roads around Bilbao gave us a good idea of what this car is all about from a driving dynamics standpoint. Here's some of what we found:
