Excellent 2001 Bmw 530i Sport 5-speed Manual Silver Gray 17" Bbs E39 Many Extras on 2040-cars
Vernon Hills, Illinois, United States
I am an all German car owner since 1996 and BMW owner since 2001. Everyone who ever bought a car from me was very fortunate, I do drive very gently and take good care of my cars. This is my 4th BMW and second E39. I own this one since 2005 and I bought it with 70K miles. You can ask any mechanic, this model was one of the best mechanical BMWs ever produced. It all goes downhill from there. I change my own oil and filters, the rest was all done by BMW specialist. All records are available. Car drives perfectly, nothing wrong. With stiff yet incredibly supple aluminum sport suspension, it is a pure pleasure to drive. I rented a lot of new cars during my business travels, nothing new can come even close to this one. The 1999 540i 6-Speed that I had before was a little better, yes, due to a limited slip differential, but not a whole lot.
Car never let me down once. I do have original 5-set of 17" BBS wheels that I install for the summer. Spare is brand new with original Continental Sport and alone is worth over $500. The additional wheel set you see is from a 2000 540i and I use it for the winter, it has all-season Continentals. $300 Cocomats, plus BMW rubber mats for the winter. No accidents whatsoever! As you know 2001 and up E39s have body color trim which looks lame. I did replace all of it with original black BMW trim from an older 2000 model and M5 on the doors. You will not see another 530i like that. If I didn't need the money I would never sell it. Driving in the suburbs (no highway) I get about 26 miles per gallon or about 440 miles per tank, try to get that from any other 3L engine. Engine is as smooth as silk, no wonder they say it is only breaking in by 200K miles. Please ask any question you can think of. |

Official pics of BMW M235i surface ahead of coupe's debut
Thu, 24 Oct 2013BMW isn't supposed to debut the 2 Series until tomorrow, according to Carscoops, but that hasn't stopped these photos of the 1 Series Coupe replacement from leaking onto the web. First picked up by a BMW 2 Series enthusiast site, the photos eventually found their way around the web, and complement the spy images we showed you of the uncovered 2 Series from almost six months ago.
This particular car is the M235i, and will serve as the range-topping 2 Series. As the number "35" is affixed to this car's tail, there's no question that the engine powering this example is BMW's turbocharged, 3.0-liter six-cylinder. As we reported earlier this month, power for the M235i should sit around 320 horsepower, blessing the 3,240-pound coupe with a 4.8-second sprint to 60 miles per hour when equipped with an eight-speed automatic (a six-speed manual is also available, but drops the time down to an even five seconds).
While this isn't a full-bore M car like the 1 Series M Coupe, it has been touched by the company's in-house tuning division, which means it sports a racier body kit, blacked out grilles and M-labeled interior items, like the steering wheel.
BMW to show car that can park itself in a multi-story garage at CES
Tue, Dec 16 2014Automatic parking systems are something of a novelty, in their present form. Sure, modern parallel parking systems work well enough. And they're great if you lack the special awareness required to complete such a task. But frankly, how often is the average owner of such a system in a position to use it? Perpendicular parking systems, meanwhile, are basically an admission that you don't really deserve a driver's license. Novelties these systems may be, but they promise a future where we won't even need to be behind the wheel to park our cars. BMW is going to deliver a vision of that future at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show with the Remote Valet Parking Assistant, a smartwatch-activated system that takes the driver out of the parking equation and replaces them with an advanced collision avoidance system. Fitted to an i3 for CES, the BMW system relies on four laser scanners to map the surrounding environment and identify obstacles. Combined with a digital site plan for a building, the company claims its car can navigate its way to an open parking spot, moving around even unexpected obstacles like improperly parked cars. The car's owner can step out of the vehicle at the intended destination, and then tap the smartwatch app for vehicle parking and retrieval. BMW claims this system will allow more precise control than GPS, particularly in something like a multi-story parking deck. While it's an intriguing route with autonomous technology, we wonder how much is required of these digital site plans. There are more practical uses of this technology, beyond valet parking. According to BMW, the collision-avoidance technology can aid a driver in low-light conditions, automatically braking the car for its driver when an obstruction is detected. Look for more on BMW's Remote Valet Parking system as the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show approaches. Until then, scroll down for the full press release. BMW was already demonstrating at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 how perfect control technology can provide highly automated mastery of all drive statuses right through to very tight margins.
Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial
Wed, 28 May 2014How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
Take a look below for the video from Castrol.
