If you have been looking for a nice BMW M3 convertible then you need to take a close look at my 1999 model that is nice and clean inside and out and is all stock and original. This M3 has a clean Autocheck report showing no accidents or problems and it received a great score of 72 points out of an average rating of between 34-65 points so you know it has a great history as well. It has spent much time here in Florida and it shows, there is no rust and even the underside is still nice and clean with no rust and even the factory original sport "M" exhaust is still there and in great shape. The exterior looks wonderful, near new. The factory original BMW paint has a nice deep shine with no dents, scrapes fade or rust. All the trim looks great as well, look close at the pictures, it looks that nice in person. The full power top which goes up and down with just the touch of a switch works great and looks nice. The rear window is in bad shape, it doesn't leak but if you want it to look good it would need to be replaced when you get a chance. The factory sport "M" wheels look great as well and the tires are new all around and help give this BMW a smooth ride and also help it handle very tight. Again, look close at the pictures, this is a sharp looking car. The interior too is in nice shape and shows only minor normal wear for the age. There are no stains or odors and this is a non-smokers car so it is nice and fresh inside. The heated leather power seats are in nice shape and they have plenty of support. They also have "M" logo's on them both front and rear for a sporty look. All the power options work great including the ice cold air conditioning and 6-cd stereo with cassette that sounds nice. The air conditioning fan is a bit sporadic, sometimes it will blow hard and won't turn down for a bit, then returns to normal (pretty normal for a 14 year old BMW). Also the "low coolant" light will come on, it is not low so there must be a bad sensor. That's it, everything else seems to work great and there are NO service lights on. What a fun car to drive, very quick and tight! The powerful "M" power 6cyl runs strong with no issues and is very quiet and with only 116k miles on it it's just getting started. It really makes this car go and it still delivers good gas mileage. The automatic transmission shifts very smooth with no issues and the suspension is tight with no shakes or rattles, and again, there are new tires all around. This car handles very tight and is just plain fun to drive. I'm sure once you see and take it for a spin around the block you are sure to fall in love and with only 116k accident free miles this all orginal and all stock BMW M3 convertible is sure to run a long, long time! I have the factory books and a key with remote. I have great feedback so you can be sure that this vehicle will be just as nice as I am stating. Insurance is provided by the transport company for all vehicles during shipping, but my insurance ceases to cover anything once it is sold.   5. Payment will be made by cashiers check, cash or wire transfer.
  6. Florida residents must include 6% sales tax. According to Florida law, if an out of state purchaser takes delivery of a vehicle in the state of Florida I am obligated as a licensed dealer to collect your states sales tax, not to exceed 6%, you will not be charged twice. This does not apply to vehicles shipped out of state, only ones picked up in Florida.
  7. Buyer assumes the cost of shipping. I already have contacts to ship the vehicle anywhere in the USA,I will arrange this for you, and give you cost estimate ahead of time. If you are going to fly in, I will gladly arrange transportation from the Ft. Myers International Airport if you so desire.
  8. All titles are guaranteed to be clean and free of any liens but in rare occasions there could be a delay in title transfer due to bank delays from loan payoffs.

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. BMW already considering four cylinders for next M3

The cylinder count in BMW's M3 has fluctuated over the years. The original M3 debuted in 1985 packing a 2.3-liter inline-four, but subsequent models went with sixes until the outgoing generation upped the cylinder count to eight. With its latest model, BMW has dropped back to six cylinders with a pair of turbos taking the place of the extra pistons. But the next M3 sedan and M4 coupe could go back to the model line's roots with a four-cylinder engine.
Speaking with BMW M product manager Carsten Pries at the launch of the latest M3 and M4 in Portugal, our Aussie compatriots at Motoring.com.au report that "you could see a future [M3] powered by a four-cylinder engine." Offsetting the reduction in cylinders, the lighter engine would benefit the vehicle's weight and balance, thus enhancing performance.
We wouldn't expect the next M3 and M4 to lose any power in the process, though: Output in the M3 has only risen over the generations, from 192 horsepower in the four-pot original to 282 hp in the six-cylinder E36, 338 hp in the six-cylinder E46, 414 hp in the V8 E90 and 425 ponies in the new turbocharged six-cylinder F80 model. With that latter model having just debuted, it'll likely be a good six or seven years before the next version comes along, giving BMW plenty of time to settle on an engine - however many cylinders and turbochargers it has. Let's say you just got a big promotion at work or the kids are moving out of the house, and you finally have some extra money. You decide to blow it all at once and treat yourself by upgrading your ride. Naturally, you look to a luxury automaker. What do you choose?
Models like the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class may be tailor-made to introduce buyers to the premium segment, but a new study finds that they don't garner the highest rates of non-luxury customer conquests. It turns out that a Volvo leads among folks moving up to a premium brand, and it isn't even one that's made anymore, at that.
A recent study by Polk and IHS Automotive looked at what models had the highest rates of buyers upgrading from a non-luxury segment. The information comes from its new vehicle registration data through April 2014. All ten top models boasted conquest rates of over 50 percent, but the Volvo C70 led the field with 68.01 percent of its customers coming from non-premium brands.
