Up for sale is this 2003 525i with Steptronic Transmission. Car is very clean all around except for some minor stone chips around the front bumper. Rear bumper had some chips and was recently re-sprayed. Suspension is Bilsteins all around changed in 2011 and lower control arms changed in 2013. Car is tight, handles and rides great.The car was originally on executive lease when new and sold to the second owner with approx. 25,000. Second owner was a family member and maintained the car until 138,000 until he sold it to my girlfriend two years ago when he wanted to lease a new 2012 5 series. This car spent most of it's time in the garage the last 2 years, used on the weekend and for some weekend trips to Boston and Maine. Right now we have to many cars 2001 Mercedes Benz S55 AMG, 2013 BMW 328i (the replacement for the 5 series) 1995 Range Rover County and a few others. The car needs a good home and someone who will appreciate it and maintain it to get another 50,000-60,000 miles or more. There is an extra set of rims (originals that came with car)and tires for winter. Right now the summer rims and tires are on the car and it's ready for the summer. Consumer Reports selling its road-tested roadsters [w/video]
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Here's a chance to acquire a celebrity-owned vehicles, and this time at a discount instead of a premium. So the celebrity in this case is Consumer Reports, that magazine that could be equally adored and abhored by car enthusiasts. CR buys all of its test vehicles and usually finds willing second owners within its own ranks, but its opening its small used-car lot to the public. On the forecourt are four roadsters: an automatic 2012 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Tronic with 6,600 miles for $36,500, a manual 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i with 8,400 miles for $45,000, a manual 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK250 for $39,500 and a manual 2013 Porsche Boxster with 7,000 miles for $48,000.
Those numbers mean a savings of $9,000 to $10,000 before haggling - each car is listed with an "Asking price" so there could be some wiggle room if you show up with pockets full of dough and eyes full of serious intent. Since the money CR earns from the sales go back into the magazine's budget to buy more test cars, however, it probably won't take any oddball trades, so you can forget about getting any purchasing help from that track-day AMC Javelin project on blocks in the back yard.
The vehicles have been taken care of and spiffed up for sale; buyers will take delivery at the CR test track in East Haddam, Connecticut and get a tour of the facilities. While you're there they'll even take you on a lap around the track so you can feel how your car handles when driven by one of its testers. They will probably not help you with advice on which toaster and dehumidifier to buy - you'll still need to get a subscription for that. BMW dishes on 'lightweight' 2014 M4
Mon, 15 Jul 2013BMW's M cars are not what we'd call featherweights. Sure, the big, bruising twin-turbocharged V8s deliver a lot of power, but the fact of the matter is that more weight often equates to less fun.
Which is why we're so excited over a recent sit-down the blokes at Top Gear had with BMW's product manager for small and medium cars, Matt Collins. The chat led to talk of the M3 Coupe replacing M4. Collins confirmed that, yes, the new M4 would be turbocharged. The new engine will also be a six-cylinder, which should make purists happy.
