This is a rare opportunity to purchase a one owner BMW 540i in excellent condition. This vehicle was maintained beyond the factory recommended services with records to show it. The engine and transmission recieved regular oil and filter changes along with the differential fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid,etc. The entire cooling system was changed including hoses, water pump, thermostat, radiator, etc. This car was garaged kept and that includes garage parking during the day too. The paint is in excellent condition and shines beautifully. The interior is near perfect, rear seats look untouched, carpets, headliner, dash, steering wheel, controls and switches are near perfect. Everything works, windows, sunroof (with glass roof), climate control, a/c, heater, stereo, power seats, all work perfectly and quietly. The drivetrain is smooth and powerful, engine has no leaks and sounds great. Front suspension was recently overhauled with OEM struts, lower control arms and bushings and a four wheel alignment. BMW M3 and M4 will rock 430 hp from twin-turbo six with standard manual [w/video]
Wed, 25 Sep 2013We're not sure which spec we're most intrigued by for the new BMW M3 and M4: the twin-turbo six-cylinder with 430 horsepower and "far beyond" 369 pound-feet of torque, the 3,300-pound curb weight or the standard six-speed manual transmission with automatic throttle blipping on downshifts. That engine is fitted with both Valvetronic and Double-Vanos, twin-wire arc-spray coating in the cylinders instead of liners to save weight, a track-ready cooling system with additional radiators, a forged crankshaft, dry-sump lubrication and a magnesium oil sump. BMW says its "high revving concept" has a redline beyond 7,500 rpm.
In the M4, it will be pulling a coupe with "a weight of just under 1,500 kilograms," which is 3,300 pounds to you and me. That number is said to include no driver and 90 percent fuel, but we're still waiting on the exact number and specs. BMW says it's "around 80 kilograms lighter than a comparably equipped predecessor model," putting the power-to-weight ratio at something like 7.68 pounds per horsepower at the same time as it helps reduce fuel consumption by 25 percent. The use of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) for the roof, drive shaft (with no center bearing), trunk and front strut brace, and forged aluminum for suspension components, have aided in the weight loss. This time around, the sedan - the M3 - will also get a CFRP roof.
The default option will be a six-speed manual.

BMW revises X1 to tide it over until replacement
Tue, 17 Dec 2013It's been over five years since BMW first introduced the X1 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and a bit over a year since it brought the compact crossover to these shores. Soon the Bavarian automaker will replace the X1 with a new model based on the company's new front-drive architecture, but not before it gives it a few updates to keep it fresh.
Set to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show next month alongside the Z4 Pure Fusion Design and the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe, the enhanced X1 benefits from some new exterior accents, a spruced-up interior and new technology packed inside.
New air intakes in the bumper and integrated daytime driving lights distinguish the front end, with new wheel and color options available. Inside, certain versions get a new dashboard treatment, among other minor trim updates, and BMW has installed its latest ConnectedDrive suite to keep it up with the times.
