2000 Bmw 540i Base Sedan 4-door 4.4l on 2040-cars
Seattle, Washington, United States
This is a silver, 5 speed automatic transmission, 4.4 liter V8 BMW 540i (E39 model) with gray leather interior. It is model year 2000 with the sport package (19 inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, tiptronic transmission (allows manual style shifting), additional supports in the front seats, sunroof). It has 121,000 miles. Mechanically, the car is great. It's fast and runs smoothly and without any issues. Recently I had the motor mounts and the driveshaft replaced. I have extensive records for it and bought it from my parents who bought it new in 2000. Everything (mechanical, electric, and electronic) functions as it should, including the cruise control, A/C, and onboard computer. It is mechanically sound. Oil changes and other regular maintenance have been done consistently and on time. It gets about 19 mpg in the city, about 24 mpg on the highway. The car is in really good cosmetic condition: no rust, only the regular minor issues that come from 13 years on the road, like small paint chips on the hood. There are no aftermarket modifications. KBB says this car, in good condition, is worth $7300 on the private market. Mechanically, this car is excellent but it does have a couple of cosmetic issues (listed above). It will not give a new owner and trouble. I want to sell this car quickly. It is a terrific, clean car driven by non-smokers. Pick up in Seattle or pay and coordinate for shipping. |

2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo has the biggest price discount in America
Thu, Apr 9 2020Right now, buyers of the 2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo are paying an average of $248,000 to drive the brand-new supercar off the dealer lot. That's a hefty chunk of change, but it represents $16,269 off the car's average $264,969 retail price, according to data provided to Autoblog by Truecar. That's the largest discount in America on a new vehicle for the month of April, 2020 when judged by the dollar amount in savings off the sticker. It's not all that uncommon to see a lot of money taken off the sticker price of expensive luxury cars. This month, right behind the Lamborghini sits the 2019 BMW 8 Series with a few bucks shy of $11,000 in savings, which is hardly surprising. Though it's a very sleek and entertaining car in some of its various incarnations, it hasn't exactly proven to be a hot seller for the German automaker. The fact that there are a total of 15 (!) possible configurations probably doesn't help. Two other BMWs, the 2020 7 Series ($10,164 in savings) and the 2019 i8 ($10,145) are also on the top 10 biggest discounts list. In between that BMW sandwich are the 2019 and 2020 editions of the Acura NSX. It doesn't really matter which one a buyer chooses to drive off the lot, either way lopping off more than $10,000 off the sticker price means the electrified supercar will cost just under $150k. BMW 2 Series to wear 230i, M240i nameplates
Wed, 19 Nov 2014BMW might not be done tweaking its naming scheme quite yet. Of course, at this point, the jumble of numbers on the back of the Bavarian models has no connection to what's under the hood. So there's not much reason to stop changing the monikers now.
As Autoblog reported a few months ago, BMW is slotting upgraded, turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines called the B48 and B58, respectively, into the 3 and 4 Series. If this happens, the 328i/428i would become the 330i/430i, and the 335i/435i would turn into the 340i/440i.
Obviously, this change hasn't happened yet, but the same member of 2Addicts, a portion of the larger Bimmerpost community has now claimed that the 228i and M235i would get the same treatment. They would become the 230i and M240i, respectively, with the new engines.
China probing German automakers over spare parts
Sat, 26 Jul 2014The Chinese market has proven to be a boon to German luxury automakers. However, the way that the companies have allegedly been controlling their supply of spare parts has begun to draw the ire of the nation's government. According to insiders speaking to Bloomberg, officials from the country's economic planning organization have opened a probe into Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and some Japanese carmakers over claimed price inflation and limiting supply.
Specifically, the investigation centers around two aspects of how the companies do business, according to Bloomberg. Investigators want to know whether the original equipment component makers are able to sell spare parts only to automaker-authorized dealers or if they are also available to independent shops. There is also the issue of whether the price markup on replacement pieces is too high. The tight controls could be partially explained by China's reputation for producing counterfeit parts.
Evidently, the investigators haven't checked parts prices at car dealers elsewhere in the world. At least in the US, paying more at the dealer for factory components just goes along with owning a vehicle. If evidence of price fixing is found, the companies could face fines the equivalent of millions of dollars, according to Bloomberg.
