1994 Bmw 540i Clean!!! Rust Free!!! on 2040-cars
Duluth, Minnesota, United States
I have a 1994 BMW 540i automatic which is in excellent condition despite having 179,xxx miles! I'm located in Duluth, MN.
As far as the car goes I haven't owned it long, but here is a list of what's been done as far as maintenance goes within the last year: -Valve cover gaskets(8/01/13) -Voltage regulator (2/20/14) -Power Steering flush (2/20/14) -Thermostat (8/01/13) -Crankshaft Position Sensor (12/08/13) -O2 Sensors (12/08/13) -Throttle Body gasket (12/08/13) -New Battery (12/08/13) -Electrical System check (12/08/13) -Vacuum test (12/08/13) [hence the throttle body gasket] -Serpentine belts (4/05/14) Most of these were preventative maintenance and not because they had to be replaced. No modifications except for a muffler delete. I also just put new tabs on which are good through March 2015. It has brand new Firestone Winterforce tires on the rear, but it has older all season tires in the front. Haven't had any issues this year with all the snow we've had. The control arm bushings are getting old and make some rattling noise over bumps, which is a common occurrence with these cars. There are kits for $160 to replace all the front control arms and bushings. I just never got around to fixing them, and the rattling never bothered me too much. I will throw in a set of H&R lowering springs that are brand new (came in the mail 4/07/14) for the right deal. Otherwise I will save them for another future E34 I'll probably end up with. The engine is smooth and the transmission shifts as it should but it was recommended to me that I replace the shift cable. It's not a pressing matter by any means. It functions as it should and I have had no issues whatsoever, but the shop said it may need to be replaced but I think they were just trying to get more money out of me. One reason I did not replace it was because I tracked down a complete bolt on 5 speed swap kit for it, which I can put you in touch with the owner of the kit if that is what you desire. The body itself is in amazing condition. The car was originally from South Carolina and was undercoated when new. There is one small dent on the drivers side rear passenger door from a motor cycle, but it is hardly noticeable. There is no rust whatsoever. The interior is in good condition. The driver's seat is a little beat up and needs a new cable for the seat back, but all power functions work. The aftermarket radio works, but has a loose wire so it cuts out if you hit a big bump, then you just push it back and it works. Other than that it is great. It even has a built in car phone...that works! I have a clean title in my name as well. I welcome you to come inspect the car before purchasing but rest assured I will be honest about everything because I have nothing to hide. I'm just looking to get into a newer car. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask. On Apr-14-14 at 11:18:18 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been some concerns about the AutoCheck report stating that there was a discrepancy with the odometer. This is a result of an error at the DMV when reporting the mileage in 2001, and the mileage is accurate at 179,950. The miles will go up slightly due to daily driving, but rest assured that there was no rollback or cluster replacement. |

BMW tests M Lap Timer App with M4 Coupe at Brands Hatch
Fri, 21 Mar 2014The 2015 BMW M4 looks to include all the necessary ingredients to offer dynamite driving experience. It's an M car after all. But in today's constantly connected world, the experience of hurtling a car around a track isn't always enough.
We want data, and while there are some solid telemetry apps available for smartphones (notably Harry's GPS LapTimer), manufacturers have been a bit slower to develop their own dedicated mobile telemetry trackers for their performance cars. With the new M4, though, BMW is taking the plunge, allowing drivers to track their lap progress through a new app, creatively called the M Lap Timer.
To show off the program, BMW has recruited touring car racer Andy Priaulx to perform a fast lap in an M4 at the UK's Brands Hatch circuit. The accompanying video doesn't do much to show off the app in action. Rather, it give us a stylized look at the metrics as Priaulx hustles BMW's hottest 4 Series coupe around the circuit.
Updated BMW X6 spied running the 'Ring in Germany
Tue, 22 Oct 2013Following the debut of the X5 earlier this year, it shouldn't come as a shock that BMW is testing an updated X6 in its homeland. The Munich-based manufacturer trekked to the Nürburgring to test the lifted, four-door coupe it calls a Sports Activity Vehicle, while also giving us our first peak as to what the future holds for one of the weirder models in the brand's stable.
Mainly, we can safely expect the next X6 to get the same range of refinements made to its platform-mate, the X5, which debuted earlier this year. If we're lucky, that could mean an X6 sDrive35i, complete with rear-wheel drive with which to fling the big SAV about. Adding a rear-drive option could also broaden its admittedly limited appeal by lowering the cost of entry, which could serve the pricier X6 well. As a point of reference, the X5 sDrive35i is priced at $2,300 below an xDrive all-wheel-drive-equipped model.
The X6's top-flight xDrive50i model should get the same 45-horsepower bump as the X5 xDrive50i, thanks to refinements to its twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V8, while the 3.0-liter, turbocharged six-pot should remain unchanged. We wouldn't hold our breath for an X6 diesel to arrive, although weirder stuff has happened. Like the X5, though, this should be a pretty slim refit that improves an already competent package to go along with an expected increase in price.
BMW unleashes new M4 racer on DTM
Mon, 03 Mar 2014We may not get to enjoy the fruits of it all, but we're in the midst of a golden age in touring car racing around the world. In Northern Europe, rival local series have amalgamated into the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. In the UK, the British Touring Car Championship is enjoying the largest and most diverse grid in its long history. In Australia, the V8 Supercars series has grown from a Holden vs. Ford battle to include challengers from Mercedes, Nissan and Volvo. And in Germany, the DTM championship has managed to lure BMW back onto the grid to open up the battle between Mercedes and Audi. All good things, in short.
Since returning to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters in 2012, BMW has won the drivers' title once and the constructors' title twice, proving the Bavarian manufacturer to be not only a suitable challenger to the two-horse race between its star- and ring-emblazoned rivals, but the dominant force in German tin-top racing. Now BMW is set to enter its third season since returning to the DTM, and this is the car with which it intends to do so.
Replacing the M3 DTM that has impressively won half of the DTM races it has contested over the past two years, BMW's latest racing car is made in the mold of the new M4 coupe. Only it's even meaner. While the production version has switched to a turbo six, the DTM version still uses a V8: a 4.0-liter unit with four-valve cylinder heads, mandatory air restrictors and a Bosch ECU to channel 480 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque to the rear set of Hankook racing slicks through a six-speed sequential gearbox. The lightweight chassis is rounded out with competition-level aerodynamics and all the mandatory safety equipment.
