If you are looking for a minivan, you have come to the wrong page.

This is no ordinary car.

This is the car “the little old lady from Pasadena” would have loved to own.

The “Ultimate Granny Wagon”  a BMW 540I  Sportwagon (or “Touring”) in Europe..

A 2003 model, the last year of this series known as E39, and the best year.

BMW stopped building station wagons for the next two years as there was  little demand for this type of car outside of Europe.

The North American consumer equated the term “station wagon” with “mini van”, something for the wife to take the kids to school, and could not understand why anyone would want to own a superb high performance car like the BMW 540I, with anything other than the conventional sedan shape and styling. Especially with a price tag of over $ 60,000 !

Only about 500  cars made it to the US and a few to Canada, this being one of them.

If you are interested in owning a very special and unique BMW, read on to find out more about this car, in particular.

You probably know that it powered by a 4.4 litre V8  with 292 HP, enough for comfortable cruising and enough acceleration to put most Sports cars to shame. The handling is superb and the comfort amazing.

Fully equipped with leather interior, memory seats, heated, with lumbar support, that lets you drive 800 highway kms in 8 hours and step out feeling fresh.

The winter package has the ski bag pass-thru and heated steering wheel to get you there on a cold day.

Sun/moon roof, steptronic 5 speed automatic transmission that is shiftable, window curtains for the back windows, etc.

This is a two owner car and has been in our family for the past 9 years. Imported from the US, properly documented and registered.

Maintained at the highest level at a BMW dealer, with all service records available.  Mileage  just under 96000 miles (152921 km). Owned by Non-smokers.

Colour is Black Safire Metallic outside and tan coloured leather interior.

Keys, books, extra floor mats are all there, as well.

Cosmetically, it has a couple of flaws, as per the pictures. The hood has a small dent from a flying rubber cone flipped up on the highway, the sides have a couple of dings from runaway shopping trolleys, (or people who hate Bimmers), and a  couple of scratches , a “kiss’” from a parking garage post.

Only reason for selling is that the grandchildren are getting  bigger, and we need an all-wheel drive vehicle  for the upcoming winter.

The car has spent most winters garaged, however it gets tru the snow quite well with snow tires.

We do  have a set, mounted on very smart looking rims, that we will include with the sale, if the buyer wants them.

By bidding in this auction, you declare that you have read and accept the Terms of this Sale as outlined below.

If you have any questions, please ask them before you bid. After the auction has ended, the sale is final.

Please, only bid on this car if you are serious about owning it and have the necessary funds readily available!
We require a $1,000 deposit to be paid via PayPal within 24 hours of the end of the auction and the balance to be paid via bank wire transfer (or in cash) within 7 business days, unless other arrangements have been agreed upon during the auction.

The car comes with a clear Title. It is sold "as is, where is" with no warranty stated or implied. License plates shown for photographic purposes only.

You fully understand that you are not bidding on an "option to buy" this vehicle. You bid to own! There are no contingencies.

Best sport sedans for 2022 and 2023

Thu, Nov 11 2021

SUVs dominate the car industry at every size and price level, but some people still prefer the looks, and more importantly, the performance and comfort, of the traditional sedan. With a lower ride height, lighter weight and generally smaller size, they often are much more fun to drive, and can even be more comfortable. Sport sedans of course lean harder on the performance side of things, and are among the best options for sheer speed and fun, thanks to those inherent characteristics. We've rounded up the ones in the segment that do the sporty dance better than any others in 2024 to give you a handy guide when you're shopping for one of your own. You'll find a wide array of cars here including gas, electric and hybrid powertrains. They'll have manual and automatic transmissions and drive the front, rear or all four wheels. Technically a few hatchbacks have slipped in, but they're close enough in look and feel that we wanted to include them. And excluding them means you might miss out on some of the best-driving options available. You wouldn't want that, would you? Alfa Romeo Giulia Why it stands out: Punchy four-cylinder; astounding power from Quadrifoglio; light and nimble character; awesome shift paddlesCould be better: Clunky infotainment; sub-par switchgear Read our Alfa Romeo Giulia review We start this list with one of the most predictable inclusions: the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Yes, it's a stereotype that the Italian sport sedan is fun to drive, but the fact is, well, it is. The Giulia comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 280 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful four-cylinders in the segment. It's paired with a snappy and smooth eight-speed transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.  The engine is lively and torquey, if a little short of revs, and the chassis feels super-light. The steering is eager and the car jumps into corners. We also highly recommend getting a version with the enormous and superb aluminum paddle shifters that make clicking through gears much more entertaining. And on the topic of the interior, it's attractive, but the various switches and knobs feels a little cheap, and the infotainment system is clunky. Of course there's also the incredible Giulia Quadrifoglio at the high end. It gets a Ferrari-derived twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 making 505 hp, and it's rear-wheel drive only.

BMW reveals new seven-seat 2 Series Gran Tourer [w/video]

Wed, Feb 11 2015

Everything is turning up Gran over at BMW these days. The 4 Series and 6 Series sprout extra doors to become Gran Coupes. The 3 Series and 5 Series get weird rooflines to become Gran Turismos. And now the 2 Series Active Tourer has grown an extra row of seats to become the Gran Tourer. What we're looking at is essentially the same mini-minivan/tall-hatchback that emerged almost exactly a year ago as the first front-drive model in BMW's history. Only in the guise of the new 2 Series Gran Tourer, it's been stretched to accommodate that third row of seats to give it seven-seat capacity – which was to be expected, of course, but is still fairly impressive considering how compact this vehicle actually is. It may be less than ten inches longer than the five-seat Active Tourer, but it's still smaller than just about any seven-seater on the market, and to hear the Bavarians tell it, it's "the world's first premium compact model to offer up to seven seats." Those seats are optional and can fold under the floor, and the middle row splits 40:20:40 and folds flat at the push of a button to give the 2 Series Gran Tourer a flexible cargo capacity ranging from 22.7 cubic feet all the way up to 67 cu ft. All of that in a vehicle no longer than a Ford Focus, which even in European wagon form can only swallow 53 cu ft with the seats folded – and you can forget about the extra seats in the Focus. European buyers will be able to choose between five engine options with three or four cylinders and ranging from 116 horsepower to 192. Available all-wheel drive might make you forget it's riding on a front-drive platform altogether (but not likely). Either way, the five-seat Active Tourer hasn't found its way to US showrooms, so we won't expect to see this new seven-seat version here either. At least not for the time being. But we'll surely have the chance to check it out in person for you next month at the Geneva Motor Show. The new BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer. 11.02.2015 With the new BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, BMW has carved out yet another new vehicle segment. With its generous space, versatility and groundbreaking flexibility, the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is the world's first premium compact model to offer up to seven seats and fully meet the mobility requirements of young families. Compact yet capacious.

Porsche, Jaguar continue dominance in 2015 JD Power APEAL study

Wed, Jul 22 2015

The top of JD Power's 2015 APEAL Study has not changed much in the last year. Porsche remains No. 1 with Jaguar nipping at its heels, although both premium brands saw their overall score fall compared to 2014. For those that need a refresher, the APEAL Study looks at how "gratifying" a vehicle is to own and drive, rating cars and brands on a 1,000-point scale. The industry average for 2015 has increased from 794 to 798, while the total number of automakers that finished above the curve increased from 16 to 20. While Porsche and Jaguar finished at the top, their scores dropped eight and seven points, respectively, to 874 and 855. The top "non-premium" brand was Mini, which scored an impressive 825, up from 795. If the BMW-owned British marque is still a bit too premium for your tastes, last year's non-premium winner, Hyundai, did climb five points and is this year's runner up. At the opposite end of the scale, Smart sits at the very bottom of the rankings, with a score of 683 (it didn't appear on the 2014 rankings). Fiat also dropped, from fourth worst in 2014 to second worst in 2015, despite the 500 being named most appealing city car. Subaru made an impressive climb, from third worst to seventh, falling just 10 points shy of the industry average and two points south of the non-premium average. In the individual vehicle segments, eight brands earned multiple awards, with Ford, Chevrolet, and Porsche earning three apiece. Surprise segment victories included the new Ford Expedition, which beat out Chevy's popular Suburban. The Infiniti QX80 bested the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and Range Rover for best large luxury SUV, and the Dodge Challenger beat its muscle car rivals from Ford and Chevy. Most of the victories, though, were quite predictable. The Mazda6 and CX-5 took wins for the midsize sedan and compact SUV categories respectively, while the Volkswagen Golf captured the compact car win. The Ford F-150 won the large pickup category, while the Porsche Cayman was named most appealing compact premium sporty car.
