You are bidding on a 1973 BMW 2002 (Non Tii) 4 speed sunroof car.

I am the third owner of the car, which was purchased from Arizona. The car began its life in California before Arizona, so this car has lived less than two years of its 40+ year life in CT. This is a very reliable, well serviced, well cared for 2002. Its an older restoration that has held up well and served me as a daily driver to and from work (30 miles) for the past two years. The motor is strong with no smoke. The trans and all running gear is strong and healthy. seats are good, seat belts works, windows roll up and down well, lights & blinkers are good....Everything works as it should on this 2002.

The car is wired to have a radio. I removed the shotty 80's radio & center console and replaced it with a clean radio-free center console. I left all the wires in case the next owner wanted to install his or her own radio again.

Rust, work & parts needed, and other items: I would call the car rust free, however, there are two or three very small bubbles in the paint near the windshield pilar. The dash is great with no tears. The door lock on the driver's side door has no key entry. The button and locking mechanism work great...just need to buy the part and install it. Not a big deal....an evening in the garage with a beer and the right parts will do the trick. The headliner is in "okay" condition. Its just a little old an worn with some discoloration...not bad....had to mention it though. The ingition key entry is...."tempormental". Ever now and then, once every 10-15 starts, the ignition will lock up and prevent the key from turning / starting the car. After about 30-40 seconds of wiggling, it turns and the car starts right up. Its an odd problem that never was worth any further investigation on my side.

Good news for perspective buyers is that this car was serviced by the guys at Sports Car Restoration (www.sports-car-restoration.com), who specilize in BMW restoration, maintenance, and race prep. Matt & Nate know the car well and can speak on its condition.

I love this car very much and hate to sell it. Priorities have changed and it needs to go.....aka.....baby and family come first, so my little red verona must go. The reserve is set for what I paid for it two years ago. The buy it now is just below what I have it listed locally for, so it goes without saying that I have the right to end this auction early if it sells locally prior to the end of this auction.

Title: Car has a clean title, but...of course, I can not find the actual paper. I just sent the paperwork to DMV for a replacement / duplicate title so that is in progress....shouldn't be a problem, but wont be here for another 2-3 weeks.

Someone is going to get a great little roundie!!!

BMW revises X1 to tide it over until replacement

It's been over five years since BMW first introduced the X1 at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and a bit over a year since it brought the compact crossover to these shores. Soon the Bavarian automaker will replace the X1 with a new model based on the company's new front-drive architecture, but not before it gives it a few updates to keep it fresh.
Set to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show next month alongside the Z4 Pure Fusion Design and the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe, the enhanced X1 benefits from some new exterior accents, a spruced-up interior and new technology packed inside.
New air intakes in the bumper and integrated daytime driving lights distinguish the front end, with new wheel and color options available. Inside, certain versions get a new dashboard treatment, among other minor trim updates, and BMW has installed its latest ConnectedDrive suite to keep it up with the times. Alex Zanardi back in the driver's seat with BMW

If there's ever been an inspirational story in the pantheon of motor racing history, surely it's that of Alessandro Zanardi. The Italian driver worked his way up the motor racing ladder, making it into Formula One and winning two CART championships for Chip Ganassi Racing back before the series re-merged into IndyCars. Tragedy struck in 2001 when he lost both his legs in a crash at the Lausitzring in Germany, but rather than accept his fate, Alex pushed on. Fitted with prosthetic limbs, he learned to drive a racing car with hand controls and got back in the driver's seat.
Zanardi drove for BMW in the European Touring Car Championship and then in the World Touring Car Championship that replaced it, landing on the podium several times despite his physical disadvantage. He left racing in 2009 to train for the Paralympics, winning two gold medals in London, but Alex apparently couldn't shake the racing bug. BMW modified one of its M3 DTM racers with hand controls for him to test later that year. And now he's returning to motor racing full time.
BMW has just announced that Zanardi will be driving a Z4 GT3 in the Blancpain Sprint Series, the successor to the FIA GT Series and short-distance counterpart to the Blancpain Endurance Series. The car has been modified with the hand controls the Bavarian automaker's racing department fitted to the aforementioned M3 DTM and will be fielded by the ROAL Motorsport team with which Alex challenged for the European Touring Car Championship last decade.

2014 BMW X5 doesn't upset the formula

BMW has unveiled the 2014 X5, and fans of the company's CUV will find plenty familiar in the machine. The biggest change to the recipe comes in the form of the X5 sDrive35i, which is the first rear-wheel drive version of the high-riding five-door to date. Buyers will, of course, continue to be able to opt for all-wheel drive, and both models will get their thrust from a 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. That powerplant makes 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW says the combination is good enough to get the SUV to 60 miles per hour in around 6.2 seconds.
Those who require more thrust can step up to the more potent X5 xDrive50i with its twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine. Drivers get to enjoy an extra 45 hp over the previous model, with final output up to 445 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic of its own, the engine can hustle the big X5 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
The 2014 BMW xDrive35d continues to offer diesel power, though output has dropped 10 horsepower to 255 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Even so, BMW says the X5 diesel will be just as quick or quicker than the 2013 model. You can check out the full press release below for more information.
