No Reserve. I bought a beautiful 2002 Tii engine five years ago from a guy in Vermont and he threw in this sad, not running and very rough 2002 (just to get rid of it), which I had trucked home and rolled into the back of my garage, where it's never run, or been moved since. Most likely 122,000, but who knows...My son was thinking project car before college, so he took off the bumpers, lights, trim, but then, of course, college and career happened. Also: the inside passenger door panel is in trunk, the malaga primer visible on frame. The car is complete with original engine. I have all the records, original manuals and even an insurance photo of it looking beautiful in its original malaga in the late 80's, but with heavily damage on the front and rear right quarter panels, probably the demise of the car, since it looks like several amateur efforts have been made to repair with a mixed color bag of used 2002 body panels. There is no battery and as you can see by photos, the car is really rough. The irony is that it has always been garaged, the glass is perfect, with an obvious new windshield and very little rust, for what's it worth. There is also a pile of parts in the trunk. SInce I owned 2002's for more than 25 years, little bit of a soft spot for what some might say is just a pile of junk. I was going to trailer it over to the scrap yard last weekend – $190 based on weight, but then thought Ebay. Please know, you're bidding on, or potentially buying a car that is in very poor condition inside and out.

Buyer is responsible for coming and moving the car out of my garage (I can help) and off my property within two – three weeks max after purchase. I can answer questions, but again, I know nothing about this car's history except from a quick scan of big file. There are no records after 1987.

Also: There is no New York State Title since I've done nothing with car. The guy in Vermont who gave me the car had no Title for it either. DMV told me that there is no need for a Title on cars older than 1973, so a mute point for us New Yorkers.

I can answer questions, but again, no expectations for selling this rig, just wanted to offer it to any hard core 2002 aficionados before scrapping.

2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance: It's all in the details

Mon, Aug 22 2016

It's no secret that Pebble Beach is an ode to gorgeous, and mostly, classic cars. The car show may be a place for automakers to showcase extremely expensive cars to wealthy buyers, but it's also one of the go-to places for enthusiasts that love automobiles and culture. While it's easy to be overwhelmed by the overall beauty of a car, the real magic often needs closer inspection to be realized. Every car at Pebble Beach is a work of art, but the true beauty of the vehicles lies in the details. And Autoblog's photographer, Drew Phillips, managed to capture the details on some gorgeous cars. From the Lamborghini Miura's exquisite steering wheel to Rolls-Royce's Spirit of Ecstasy, it's all at Pebble Beach. We think the details on some of the cars are prettier than the cars themselves, but don't take our word for it. Check out the beautiful gallery above and enjoy the tiny bits and pieces behind some of the prettiest cars in the world. BMW i8 named Autoblog's 2014 Technology of the Year [w/video]

Thu, Nov 20 2014

The winner of Autoblog's 2014 Technology of the Year award was given this year for not just one technology, but for how a suite of technologies worked together to make one impressive vehicle. The BMW i8 was named the winner Wednesday night at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles, just outside the Los Angeles Auto Show. Autoblog's editorial staff agreed that the i8, which drew crowds of attention during our testing days, represents a future of driving that we can't wait to see happen. "I do believe that green vehicles solve a very fundamental problem, and if a car like the i8 can get a rich man with good knees (to get in and out of the car) to drive something with a plug instead of a 12-mpg sports car, then mission accomplished," says Sebastian Blanco, editor of AutoblogGreen and one of our judges. The panel reviewed nearly 50 qualified submissions from readers, editorial staff and industry, the panel of judges named the following as finalists: Dodge's SRT Performance Pages (read more here) The Subaru Eyesight forward collision warning system (read more here) The Performance Data Recorder in the 2015 Chevy Corvette (read more here) The 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine from Ford (read more here) Chrysler's 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine (read more here) Ultimately, we picked the car that excited us the most. The BMW i8 has a throaty exhaust note when accelerating. It's got carbon fiber, and a plug-in hybrid system that uses a small 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and an electric motor. It has through-the-road all-wheel drive, and in Europe it'll come with laser beams for headlights. All that, and it's a massive eye catcher. People stop and stare when they see this car, for good reason. It's simply gorgeous. For a more in-depth look at our testing of the car, click here.

Alpina B4 coupe will be your subtle M4

Sat, 14 Sep 2013

We're big fans of Alpina here at Autoblog - the BMW tuner has created some seriously delicious products in the past, and recently tuned the diesel-powered 3 Series wagon to create the D3 Bi-Turbo. What we like most about Alpina is how the cars only look subtly more aggressive than stock, yet they pack a real wallop under the hood.
Take this B4 Coupe, recently spotted testing at the Nürburgring. It looks pretty tame compared to the normal 435i, the only visual additions being the Alpina-standard 21-spoke wheels, modified front lip and rear wing spoiler. But under the hood, Alpina is reportedly working on a tuned, twin-turbo straight-six that produces something like 410 horsepower. That means the B4 should be good for a 0-62 time of 4.2 seconds, with a top speed around 190 mph. Rear-wheel drive will be standard, though our spies suggest that Alpina could also use all-wheel drive here in the B4.
We have no doubt that the next BMW M4 will be super hot, but for those seeking a bit more stealth and exclusivity, this Alpina B4 certainly looks the business. Check it out in our gallery above.
