1970 Bmw 2002 With Sunroof on 2040-cars
San Jose, California, United States
Up for auction is this very original 1970 BMW 2002 with Sunroof. This is a 2.0 Liter car with a 4speed transmission. The car was bought form the original owner (still had the original small California Pink Slip which I have on hand) who needed to let it go due to medical reasons. This is a very original car. The car sat in a garage for nearly 15 years before it had to be recently sold to me. The car was a true garage find as it was surrounded by a lot of newspapers, furniture and garbage. This 02 is the perfect candidate to leave it as a daily driver or to restore it. The rusty areas can easily be fixed The good: sunroof, solid chassis, very good undercarriage, and shock towers. Very clean trunk area with no rust on the spare wheel area. The bad: Some rust (through) on the bottom lip of the front end and right rear section of rocker panel. Minor rust spots (all due to the leaky garage roof) on the trunk lid, bottom portion of the driver side door, and hood. The front driver side shock tower has surface rust (paint gone) due to the brake fluid leaking out from the brake reservoir; however, the shock tower is very solid. Interior needs a lot of attention. The seats are torn which in my opinion would be the first thing to do to have a more comfortable ride. Missing center console. Cracked dash. The car was lightly hit in the left front fender. Center Kidney Grill is damaged. Recent work done: Front and Rear Brake Hoses Rear Brake cylinders Drive shaft Guibo and Support Bearing Transmission Selector Shaft seal Shifter Support Plate and Shifter Rod Bushings Engine Oil and Filter Coolant Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires and Points Complete undercarriage and engine compartment steam clean Please follow the link below where you can see nearly 300 pictures of almost every angle and corner of the car: https://1970bmw2002withsunroof.shutterfly.com/ Car could be driven almost anywhere and can be shipped worldwide. I will assist with shipping the car anywhere but buyer is responsible costs and logistics. Please contact me with any questions or if you need more detailed pictures of concerned areas. 408 644-7260 Car is located in San Jose, CA 95124 The Car is for sale locally as well. |

Drifting can be dangerous for spectators, too
Fri, 02 May 2014Okay kids, here's your lesson for the day. When you go to a motorsports event (that isn't a rally), there are these things called walls. They're big and hard. There might be stacks of tires in front of them. There are also these things called barriers, catch fences and run-off areas. They exist to protect you, the spectator, when something inevitably goes wrong on the track.
If you don't have these things, you probably shouldn't be watching whatever four-wheeled mayhem is taking place. This gentleman learned that the hard way, after getting a bit too close while some hoon drifts his BMW 3 Series.
Scroll down for the video, and be warned, while there isn't any blood that we can see, some viewers might find the sight of a human getting punted by a BMW disturbing.
Tesla only 8th greenest automaker, BMW is best, says Newsweek
Sat, Jun 13 2015We imagine some readers will be surprised by this. Newsweek has just put out its rankings for the top "green" companies in the world, and while Tesla Motors chief Elon Musk can crow about how green his electric vehicles are, the company as a whole apparently falls behind some traditional automakers. Quite a few of them, actually. In Newsweek's Global 500 list of the greenest 500 largest publicly-traded companies in the world, BMW ranked best among automakers at Number 26. Not surprisingly, Toyota was close behind at 35, while Nissan came in at 152. What's a little more puzzling is that Tesla fell behind Ford (178), and General Motors (289). That's a lot of pickups versus a few Model S EVs. Go figure. Then came Hyundai (306) and Honda (316), which are a little more palatable. Tesla? It came in at 431. Newsweek's measurement standards include eight categories that include a lot of verbiage and involve things like energy productivity (which is defined as revenue in US dollars divided by total energy consumption), greenhouse-gas emissions productivity (revenue divided by GHG emissions), water usage, waste levels and something called "green revenue" (revenue derived from products that "contribute positively" to the environment). Newsweek says that its results are reproducable by a third party. Take a look at the list here and find the details on how the numbers are compiled here. 2015 BMW Alpina B6 Gran Coupe challenges the M6 in New York
Wed, 16 Apr 2014Despite being a well-respected outfit for decades, Alpina remains something of a mystery to many stateside BMW fans. In Europe, Alpina has established itself as a first-rate source for breathed-upon high-performance Bimmers, and it's looking to continue picking up traction on our shores. The US has received a handful of Alpina models through BMW factory channels, namely the 7-Series-based B7, and now we're getting another fast four-door with the debut of the BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe at today's 2014 New York Auto Show.
The B6 Gran Coupe stands as an interesting sibling to the factory's M6 Grand Coupe. Both are propelled by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but the tunes are quite different. The Alpina produces 540 horsepower and 540 pound-feet of torque, which is 20 hp less than the M6, but with 40 lb-ft more torque. An eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive mean that the B6 is about half a second quicker to 60 miles per hour than BMW's own creation. Plus, the B6 has an unrestricted top speed of 198 mph, making it one seriously rapid 6 Series Gran Coupe.
The sport sedan also wears other Alpina goodies like 20-inch versions of the brand's 21-spoke wheels and exclusive color options. The B6 Gran Coupe goes for $118,225 (including destination), and will be available through BMW dealers immediately after the auto show ends. More info about the B6 is in the release below.
