1969 Bmw 2002 Base Sedan 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Lima, New York, United States
Hello, I have a seemingly all original 1969 BMW 2002 with 48179 miles. I bought it from a friend who desperately needed the money, and in order that I might in turn sell it for him.
I'm not really into BMW, I've never owned one, so ask your questions accordingly. I will of course try to be as descriptive as possible and post good photos, and it is possible to ask questions of the original owner through me. Also, I am told the mileage is proper and original at 48,179 but since it's five digits I have no way to verify it wasn't rolled over. Here is what I am aware of that the car needs: Brake work, some wheel cylinders have been replaced, but it does need a brake line, (included). It appears to warrant a complete going through under the hood tuneup wise. I presume it hasn't been on the road for around 13 years since last registration expired in 2001. Car was in storage. This BMW does run and drive and has low miles. Other than that I have no extensive history. We put some non ethanol gas in it, drove it onto a trailer, and brought it home, that's about it, Only drove it a few hundred feet in total perhaps in my driveway since the brakes weren't pressurized. This means that this car has likely never seen ethanol. All in all, you'll see the rockers could use some attention, structurally however, this car is very meaty. Heavier thicknesses than typical by today's body standards were used. This little piece of history is quite salvageable in my opinion. I also have a box full of extra items for the car, including the original trailer hitch that was produced as original equipment for this car. I noticed an extra alternator, extra taillights, and a lot of misc items. Bid in confidence, I've been on ebay for over 13 years, never a negative, and I used to be quite an active buyer and seller. At any rate, this car isn't a show stopper in it's current shape, but well worth a full restoration for the right collector who wants to oversee the restoration their own way, or for someone who just wants a really cool and rare car. Bid accordingly, and you are buying the car as is of course. There's also no title with something this old. The serial number doesn't have standard 17 like a vin, alternatively there is a signed over registration to transfer ownership, typical of the year I understand, and at least in NY it's no problem. Car is for sale locally so the right to end early and cancel the auction is reserved. Anyone wanting additional photos please contact me, i'd be glad to even take a video of the car running etc. Also of note is that floor pans and such are in very solid shape, as is the trunk. I can also be reached via phone, at 585-310-1803 with any questions. On Jul-10-14 at 08:28:37 PDT, seller added the following information: I neglected to mention that I do have all four original hubcaps. Some are in good shape, some are dinged up a little, decent overall. |

BMW i3 to start at $41,350*
Mon, 22 Jul 2013With a week to go before the global debut of the BMW i3, BMW has announced pricing for its first-ever production electric vehicle. The all-electric version of the i3 goes on sale in the second quarter of next year with a starting price of $41,350 (*not including $925 for destination nor any applicable government tax credits).
Some of the pricing elements for the i3 that BMW continues to withhold are the cost of the model using a gasoline motorcycle engine as a range-extending generator, or that of the DC Fast Charge option. This latter feature will allow the i3's depleted lithium-ion battery pack to get an 80 percent charge in just 20 minutes; for comparison's sake, the DC quick charge feature is a $750 option on the 2014 Chevy Spark EV.
Sure, we've already driven the BMW i3, but the production version of the BMW EV - promising the interior space of a BMW 3 Series - will be unveiled next week at simultaneous ceremonies in New York, London and Beijing. Scroll down for BMW's brief press blast regarding its upcoming i3.
BMW eyes Z4 replacement before 2020
Tue, Mar 10 2015As BMW has been busy building four-door versions of two-door versions of four-door cars, less useful crossovers and front-drive minivans, you could be forgiven for thinking it had given up on its aging Z4 roadster. But that, we're pleased to report, isn't the case. According to Automotive News, BMW is hoping to release the next-generation Z4 (if that's what it ends up being called) before the close of this decade. The news outlet spoke to the company's chief engineer, Klaus Frohlich, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, who indicated that BMW may split costs on the new car with Toyota, as part of the partnership between the two automakers. This partnership is integral to the next-gen Z4, largely because of the declining importance of the roadster segment, Herr Frohlich indicated. "If you look at the volume... we have to realize that these segments are shrinking," Frohlich told AN. According to the publication, sales of the Z4, which hit the market in its current form back in 2009, dropped 11 percent in Europe and 13 percent in North America. The car also is less attractive to customers in China for a number of reasons. "[Chinese customers] are not interested in roadsters," Frohlich explained. That's because privacy is a high priority for drivers in China, AN said. On top of that, open-roof cars expose their customers to China's notorious air pollution, which drivers are understandably keen to avoid. Related Video:
Alpina D3 may be coming to Frankfurt with 350 hp, AWD
Wed, 14 Aug 2013Rumors are swirling that Alpina, the tuning house that specializes in all things BMW, will followup its Geneva debut of the B3 Bi-Turbo with an oil-burning variant slated for debut at September's Frankfurt Motor Show. The news comes from Auto Zeitung, which reports that the second-generation D3 will be based off the Europe-only 335d.
This is a departure from the last D3, which had the four-cylinder turbo-diesel from the BMW 123d in a 3 Series body. The new model is expected to use a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six, which will generate 350 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That should scoot it to 62 miles per hour in under five seconds (likely while towing a tree stump). Both rear- and all-wheel drive should be available on the D3, and we imagine the thrill of this much power channeled through just the two rear wheels to be akin to skydiving sans parachute.
For our European friends that want an Alpina D3, but don't need more torque than any American full-size pickup, there may be plans to offer a four-cylinder variant that still delivers Alpina performance without a compromise in economy. We'll have more on the Alpina D3 when it debuts at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
