NO SMOG REQUIRED!!! These round taillight BMW's are becoming harder and harder to find, especially non-modified. 1969 was always one of my favorite year cars for almost any brand, but especially BMW. This model has the flush turn signals, the motors were built without all the smog BS, has the small bumpers and they just always seemed to run stronger than the later motors. It does have a Weber Carburator and an aftermarket air cleaner. Battery has been relocated to trunk but other than that it is original. The interior front and back seats have been replaced with period correct seats. They are a blue instead of black that actually matches the cars Atlantik paint better. It has a nice patina on the re-spray with the factory color, it looks like it was re-sprayed a while back.

The title unfortunately is a Salvage Title. Where this normally might raise some questions or scare some people away, I could not find any major damage to this care. I have had it looked at by an independent BMW shop and put it on a lift to look for where the damage was. The frame looks unaffected. These cars did not hold value that much through the 90's and a simple fender bender would total it. I think the minor damage was below the front bumper. All has been professionally fixed to high standards. The motor is still the original numbers matching, please see pics. I would suggest you don't take my word for it but feel free to come view this car prior to purchase to ease any concerns regarding the Salvage Title. This will not affect you too much other than resale. If you are not planning on reselling and will be enjoying this beauty yourself, as long as you feel comfortable with the work then you are good to go. Any major damage would have affected sub frame and definitely not allowed the original motor to survive and still run strong. It runs and shifts though all the gears fine. Will need rear brakes soon, you can drive it home anywhere in LA or Orange County and feel comfortable. I am hoping whoever buys this keeps it original. Just rebuild the motor down the road and keep the mechanicals up. As you can see from the pictures everything is there. Badges, trim, hub caps, dash only has one small crack on lower portion, original steering wheel, just a cool example of how these came off the factory floor in Germany in the late sixties. Will qualify for a Black Plate but I do not have original. This belonged to a Published Author and I had intentions of restoring myself but two other projects got in the way and parking it is getting to be a problem.

I have set a very low reserve so please bid with confidence. I have the title in hand. I think it is very reasonable considering the circumstances. This will be a fun project for somebody. Restored bone stock 2002's are going north of $20,000 now and are getting more respect and comments than the modified 2002's which have been done to death with almost every mod thinkable. It is nice to see these untouched still. Has surface rust in areas, all the shock towers and all that are in good shape, just the underside where the spare was is pretty much gone. True milage is unknown, it shows around 80,000. It could be original, doubt it, could be 180,000+ or 280,000+. Either way you have the original block that is still driving to this day, so please rebuild this original motor when you decide to do something like that and DO NOT OPT for a SWAP.

Bond in Motion car exhibit coming to L.A.'s Petersen Automotive Museum

Tue, Sep 14 2021

The Petersen Automotive Museum was already a must-see for any car enthusiast visiting Los Angeles, and it's about to get a little better should you also be a James Bond fan. Opening Sept. 25 in the museum's appropriately named Grand Salon gallery will be the "Bond in Motion" exhibit of more than 30 cars, motorcycles, boats, submarines, helicopters and scale models used during the creation of the 24 official James Bond films. The timing corresponds with the Oct. 8 release of "No Time to Die," the upcoming 60th anniversary of the first Bond movie ... and hey, the release of our "All 24 James Bond movies ranked only by their cars." Highlights include many of the most famous Bond cars, including a 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 in submarine guise from "The Spy Who Loved Me," an Aston Martin V8 from "The Living Daylights," a 1999 BMW Z8 from "The World is Not Enough," the Aston Martin DB10 specially made for "Spectre," the post-flipped Aston Martin DBS from "Casino Royale," and one of the 1964 Aston Martin DB5s from the recent movies. I visited an exhibit of the same name back in 2013 at England's sensational Beaulieu Motor Museum. Although the one in L.A. won't be as comprehensive as that, simply due to logistics, many of the same vehicles and props will be present. You can see some of the photos from that exhibit below, and should you be a James Bond fan, can appreciate that it went much further than the Aston-heavy headliners above. In fact, it was hard to see what was missing from the collection. Tickets are on sale for the opening reception Sept. 23 featuring "one-night-only photo opportunities, live entertainment, food and martinis, shaken not stirred." Considering this is Los Angeles we're talking about, it's perfectly plausible this means noteworthy cast members from past films. Prices are $60 for general admission and $199 for VIP access, which includes exclusive access to the exhibit, "007 lounge" and a curated talk, plus complimentary food and a hosted bar.  The exhibit runs until October 2022.  AMC Hornet and Mercury Cougar XR7 View 22 Photos

BMW announces M235i xDrive, 7 Series Exclusive among summer upgrades

Tue, 13 May 2014

Like any automaker worth its lug-nuts, BMW is constantly striving to improve its products. And so it has announced a series of upgrades for the summer - none of them revolutionary, but a couple of them notable.
For one, the Bavarian automaker has announced that is is offering xDrive traction on the M235i coupe, a model that has been available until now only in rear-drive configuration. The all-wheel drive version comes with the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six with 326 horsepower (320 in the US market) and eight-speed automatic transmission as the rear-drive version, but now channels that power to all four wheels for a 0-62 time quoted at 4.6 seconds - two little ticks quicker than the existing version. It's the first time that all-wheel drive is being offered on the 2 Series, and will also be fitted on the convertible - at least, that is, in Europe. We're waiting on confirmation of North American availability.
Among the other announcements is a special edition of BMW's flagship luxury sedan. The 7 Series Exclusive Edition upgrades with metallic paint, 19-inch V-spoke alloys, Nappa leather upholstery and a leather-trimmed instrument panel. Buyers will also be able to opt for the Merino fine grain leather and Alcantara roof lining from the BMW Individual catalog, and choose between any available engine or either wheelbase lengths.

Giles Taylor succeeds Ian Cameron as head of Rolls-Royce design

Thu, 28 Jun 2012

Back in the day, a Rolls-Royce looked pretty much the same as a Bentley, but with a different grille. Once BMW took over Rolls-Royce, however, it was faced with the challenge of visually separating itself from its former sister brand. And most would agree that it did so pretty well. But its cars have looked pretty much the same ever since. What Rolls-Royce needs, then, is a bit of a design shake-up. And that's just what this latest appointment could bring.
After a baker's dozen years as design director at Rolls-Royce (and twenty years designing for the BMW Group altogether), Ian Cameron is retiring from his post. In his place, Rolls-Royce has named Giles Taylor as its new director of design. In his new capacity, Taylor will report directly to BMW Group chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk, and be responsible for all design matters related to the Rolls-Royce brand and its products.
Taylor was promoted to the role from his previous position as head of exterior design for the marque, a position he's held for barely more than a year. We'll be eagerly watching to see what the veteran British car designer has in store for the future of Rolls-Royce. In the meantime you can read the full announcement below.
