2009 BMW 135i Coupe(300hp) with a 6 speed manual transmission finished in Monaco Blue Metallic with a Taupe Boston Leather interior. Vehicle was special ordered from the factory in February 2009 and was delivered in May 2009 to be my daily driver. I was so pleased with its performance that I decided to make a couple of upgrades and try it out at the track for High Performance Drivers Education(HPDE) events with the BMW CCA and SCCA. The car was fitted with a Dinan Stage 3 Suspension Package (Shocks, Struts, Springs, Front and Rear Sway Bars, and Camber Plates) on July 5, 2010 by AtSpeed Motorsports in Hanover, Maryland. At that time a Dinan High Performance Oil Cooler was also installed for a total of $7,169.23 in Dinan parts and labor. I took the car to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for one event with the Tarheel Chapter of the BMW CCA in October of 2011 where it performed extremely well. The vehicle has been cared for by AtSpeed Motorsports in Hanover, Maryland and at Russel BMW in Baltimore, Maryland. It is comfortable, quick, nimble and fun to drive on the street or the track. Due to my limited garage space and time, my father is housing the vehicle in South Carolina, and has listed it on my behalf. I will be fielding all questions and inquiries on the vehicle, and he will facilitate any local showings of the car. The packages and features on the car are as follows: Cold Weather Package - Ski Bag - Heated Front Seats Premium Package - Universal Garage Door Opener - Digital Compass Mirror - Auto-dimming mirror - Auto-dimming rearview mirror - Power Front Seats - Lumbar Support - BMW Assist Sport Package - Sport seats - M steering wheel - Shadowline trim Multi-function steering wheel Gray Poplar wood trim Moonroof Retractable headlight washers Rain sensor and auto headlights Xenon headlights Adaptive light control Automatic Air Conditioning Cruise Control iPod and USB adaptor w/cord Dinan Upgrades: D570-0820 Dinan Oil Cooler D140-0946 Koni/Dinan Adjustable Rear Shocks D140-0943 Koni/Dinan Left Strut D140-0943 Koni/Dinan Right Strut D120-05040 Dinan Front Sway Bar 26.5mm D120-0507 Dinan Rear Sway Bar 15.8mm D160-0004 Camber Plate Kit D100-0900 Dinan Performance Spring Set The car has a valid Tire and Wheel Protection Package, purchased through the BMW Dealer, which provides coverage through February 25, 2015 and will transfer with the vehicle. The troubled Alfa Romeo Giulia needs serious help [UPDATE]
Wed, Feb 10 2016UPDATE: An Alfa Romeo US spokesman responded to this article with the following statement: The safety concerns expressed in the story are false. The all-new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is designed and engineered to meet or exceed all federal safety regulations. The Alfa Romeo Giulia will begin production for the North American market in the late second-quarter of this year. Alfa Romeo will have a full product portfolio of premium vehicles that includes plans for (8) all-new Alfa Romeo vehicles by 2020. The product launches are prioritized by segment volumes starting this year with the Alfa Romeo Giulia production for North America starting in late Q2, followed by the Midsize-UV – the 2nd largest premium segment in North America. Even on the day you dragged them kicking and screaming and gesticulating wildly to a table full of concrete evidence, Alfa Romeo executives will never admit the Giulia program is going through a tough patch. But it is. Reports say the Giulia, on the eve of production, didn't just fail one internal crash test, but failed the front, side and rear impact tests. Alfa denies it. Automotive News published a report last week saying two suppliers had insisted the Giulia, on the eve of production, didn't just fail one internal crash test, but failed the front-, side-, and rear-impact tests. A third supplier source told us the same thing. Alfa is denying it. It was due on sale in Europe late last year and was supposed to be here in the next month or two. But it wasn't, and it won't. It was to be headlined by a twin-turbo V6 that reportedly howled its way around the Nurburgring 14 seconds faster than the BMW M3 could manage. That second part is only true if you believe it's fair to compare a full lap in a standard BMW M3 with a favorable accumulation of sector times to a development prototype Giulia with 220 pounds stripped out of it and rolling on hand-cut racing slicks. No, me neither. A Promising Start The Giulia's all-new architecture was developed in just two years by a skunkworks of young engineers headed by Fiat's engineering prince, Philippe Krief, and (bafflingly) sited inside Maserati's headquarters complex in Modena, about three hours from Alfa Romeo's own Turin HQ.
2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe priced from $118,225* [w/poll]
Wed, 05 Mar 2014If you're in the market for a high-performance BMW and you live in Europe, you've typically had two range of options at your disposal: you could go for one of BMW's own M models, or turn to Alpina. Though technically independent of BMW, Alpina is about as close to the manufacturer as a tuner can get, and many of its models are offered through BMW's own dealer network.
That's overseas, but in the North American market, BMW has typically taken a different approach, offering just one Alpina model - the B7 - to fill in for a lack of M7 performance sedan. That all changes, however, with the debut of the BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe.
Slotting in alongside the M6 Gran Coupe, the Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is marginally more expensive and slightly less powerful, but makes up for those relative (and negligible) shortcomings in spades. Both are based on the 6 Series Gran Coupe and both pack a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but with key differences. Where the M6 produces 560 horsepower, the Alpina offers 'only' 540. But where the M6 channels 500 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Alpina drives 540 lb-ft to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
Electrified BMW X1 spotted testing
Tue, 09 Apr 2013So here's something interesting. This might look like an ordinary BMW X1, but take a closer glance - those stickers on the side read "hybrid test vehicle," and around back, there doesn't appear to be a tailpipe at all. But does this mean that BMW is working on a straight-up all-electric version of its smallest crossover? Let's hypothesize for a moment.
Just because we can't see a tailpipe in these photographs doesn't mean there isn't one somewhere under there. And while those hybrid stickers are an indication that there's some sort of electrification going on underhood, it could just be for a forthcoming gasoline-electric version of the X1. Lexus recently confirmed it would be bringing a small hybrid CUV to market that will compete in the X1's space, so perhaps BMW is working on another powertrain option to offer when its littlest crossover gets refreshed.
Also consider that Toyota collaborated with Tesla to bring back the RAV4 EV, which would sort of compete with the X1, so it also stands to reason that perhaps this is an early test mule for a larger all-electric vehicle in the upcoming, eco-minded BMW i range. Our spies seem pretty confident that the prototype seen here is indeed an all-out EV, but we just can't say with certainty without more evidence.
