Sneak peek at next Mercedes GLK interior
Wed, 13 Nov 2013 We still have no idea when the next-gen Mercedes GLK will make its debut, but we're starting to get a better idea of what it will look like. Last month, spy shooters captured our first look at the fully camouflaged GLK prototype out testing, and now they have managed to get us a glimpse inside the luxury crossover. The most obvious element of the new GLK's cabin is the large screen mounted atop the dash (similar to what we've seen on recent entry-level Mercedes offerings like the CLA-Class) for infotainment and navigation. This screen is controlled using the new Comand controller, which looks almost the same as what Mercedes uses in the 2014 S-Class. Also like the S-Class, the GLK will ditch its three-pod gauge cluster for a two-pod layout with a large LCD screen in the middle.
We expect the new crossover to offer many of the new driver-assist features introduced on Mercedes' latest flagship sedan, including the automated-driving capabilities of Distronic Plus with Steering Assist and Stop&Go Pilot. We're also hearing that an AMG variant could be in the works to compete against the Audi SQ5 and the upcoming BMW X3 M.
