Recharge Wrap-up: Renovo Coupe at CES, Aussies tour US in Tesla Model S

A UK taxi company is introducing the Nissan e-NV200 to its fleet. C&C Taxi, which has been using six Nissan Leafs in its Cornwall taxi service since early December, has added the passenger-ready e-NV200 Combi to its stable of cabs. Mark Richards, manager of C&C's fleet, is happy with its performance and money saved after over 1,000 miles of service so far, and plans to replace the rest of the diesel fleet with EVs. The Nissan e-NV200 Combi "does everything the Leaf does but is much bigger and offers more space," says Richards. "We'll definitely be ordering more." The US Department of Energy has released a new report on EV charging behavior and its impact on the grid. The report, which covers grant projects from six different utilities, includes data from over 270 public chargers and 700 residential charging units. Most at-home charging took place at night during off-peak hours. There were some reports of problems with chargers and smart meters working together. Most public charging took place during peak hours, but was low compared to home charging. This means a longer cost recovery period due to the high cost of installation. The Renovo Coupe will be on display at the NVIDIA booth at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) for its first public viewing. Renovo Coupe on Display at NVIDIA Booth to Highlight Automotive Innovation
SILICON VALLEY, Calif. (Dec. 22, 2014) – Renovo Motors, Inc., makers of the first all-electric American supercar, today announced their revolutionary Renovo Coupe will be featured at the NVIDIA Booth (#30307) at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from Jan. 6-9, 2015. Founded in Silicon Valley in 2010, Renovo unveiled the Coupe at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance after more than four years of secret research and development on their patent-pending electric vehicle technology. As the Coupe moves towards production in 2015, CES will offer the first public viewing of the latest prototype evolution of Renovo's groundbreaking platform.
Setting new standards for performance, the Renovo Coupe is powered by a patent-pending 740 volt lithium-ion battery pack. The engineers at Renovo have integrated twin sequential axial flux motors that produce more than 500 horsepower and 1,000 ft-lbs of torque. The Coupe's revolutionary powertrain, which makes all of its power available immediately from a complete stop in just 37 milliseconds, propels the Coupe from 0-60 MPH in under 3.4 seconds making it the fastest production rear-wheel drive electric vehicle in the world. The Renovo team, led by Christopher Heiser and Jason Stinson, are driven to push the limits of electric vehicle technology to achieve unprecedented levels of performance. Their team's strong backgrounds in mechatronic systems and software have enabled them to set new standards in form, function and automotive excellence.
