GMC vehicles earn spot on Madden NFL 25's roster

Wed, 17 Jul 2013

In the real world, the Super Bowl MVP gets a Chevrolet Corvette. Last year's MVP, Joe Flacco, took delivery of a C7 Corvette Stingray after leading the Baltimore Ravens to victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

In the video game world of the Madden NFL series, the Super Bowl MVP gets a 2014 GMC Sierra Denali. Why no Stingray in the video game? Because GMC inked a deal with EA Sports for the truck and SUV builder to be named the official vehicle of the football video game's twenty-fifth anniversary edition.

The new Sierra Denali will be joined by the Yukon, Acadia, and Terrain in game, with stadium promotions for the brand throughout the season. Yes, even when you're beating the hell out of your buddy who insists on playing with the hateful Cowboys, you'll be seeing commercials. (Hold your keystrokes, Cowboy fans. We're just kidding. Sort of.)

Expect to see plenty of other GMC imagery as well, with a "Never Say Never Moment of the Week" in-season feature that displays spectacular plays throughout the week's games. Madden NFL 25 will be available for both current and next-generation versions of the Sony Playstation and Microsoft XBox, and will arrive in stores on August 27. Scroll down for the press release.

GMC Vehicles Take the Field in Madden NFL 25
First-ever vehicle integration in football video game's 25 years

2013-07-15

DETROIT – GMC, the Official Vehicle of the NFL, will become the official vehicle of EA SPORTS Madden NFL 25 on August 27 when the 25th anniversary edition of the Madden NFL franchise arrives in stores with GMC vehicles integrated into the gaming experience for the first time.

The game will include the all-new 2014 GMC Sierra full-size pickup as well as Yukon, Acadia and Terrain models.

The vehicles will appear at various points during gameplay, including after a Super Bowl victory. Just as in real life, the game's MVP will be awarded a vehicle. The GMC Official Vehicle of the NFL logo, vehicle imagery and other branding will be displayed on scoreboards and in the advertising around select stadiums.

GMC's in-game integration will also include elements of the brand's involvement as the Official Vehicle of the NFL. During the NFL season, GMC selects a "Never Say Never Moment of the Week," the moment that best demonstrates a combination of impressive athletic performance, intelligence and preparation. Each moment will be made available to replay in-game at regular intervals throughout the season. Replays require an Internet connection and an Origin Account required to play. Account creators must be at least 13 years old.

Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to complete a hand-picked GMC Collection of Professional Grade players, which can be found through the purchase of Madden Ultimate Team packs.

From now until August 1, an online sweepstakes will give Madden NFL fans a chance to win tickets to EA SPORTS Tiburon studio in Orlando, Fla., where they'll spend a day meeting the programmers and testing the game before it's released to the public. They will also be driven around town in the all-new 2014 GMC Sierra full-size pickup. Contest details are at www.GMCMadden.com/NFL.

"GMC's association with professional football is rooted in the common bonds of strength and determination," said Sandra Moore, director of GMC Advertising and Sales Promotions. "Our new Madden integration allows us to show that we're a technologically savvy brand as well."

GMC vehicles today are designed primarily in the digital space using advanced computer-aided design programs. The brand's designers provided EA SPORTS with files used to design real vehicles to develop those seen in the game.

Many GMC models, including the Terrain, Acadia and Yukon, are available with a rear seat entertainment system. Using integrated audio/video ports, passengers can connect a video game system to play Madden NFL 25 while riding in one of the vehicles featured in the game.
