Citro?n beefs up new C1 with Swiss & Me concept
Sat, 01 Mar 2014The joint city car venture between PSA and Toyota is set to yield a whole basket of fruit at the Geneva Motor Show this year. That's where Citroën will unveil the new C1, sister-brand Peugeot will present its 108 and Toyota will reveal the latest Aygo. Each will be available in numerous versions, but just in case that's still not enough variations on the same theme, Citroën will also be on hand with the concept version you see here - following a similar formula to what Volkswagen did with the debut of the Up! in its many concept and production forms.
Called the C1 Swiss & Me concept, it's a soft-road version of the C1 prepared specially for the Geneva expo. The show car features beefier fender flares, bigger wheels, side sills and a central exhaust tip. It's also been done up in the colors of the Swiss flag, with a pearl white base and red roof, mirrors and accents. Believable as an off-roader? Hardly. But if you thought the C1 already looked too much like the Nissan Juke (which itself is due for an update at the same show), here it is carried to its natural conclusion.
CITROËN C1 SWISS & ME CONCEPT CAR: A NOD TO THE GENEVA MOTOR SHOW
At the 84th Geneva Motor Show, CITROËN is unveiling the C1 Swiss & Me concept car, a unique, astonishing and assertive version of the new city car.
A picture-perfect illustration of the personalisation possibilities of the new CITROËN C1, the C1 Swiss & Me concept car proudly bears the colours of Switzerland in a nod to the city of Geneva, the venue for its world reveal.
Geneva is an emblematic city, considered as one of the world's most liveable. It is also the perfect setting for a new model that takes a playful approach to the constraints of urban motoring.
Particular work has gone into the concept car's styling features and colours, with a two-tone effect blending a red roof, harbouring the Swiss flag, and a pearl white body.
The concept car also emphasises the on-road performance of the new CITROËN C1 with wing extensions and a fixed side member, large wheels and a central tailpipe on the rear bumper.
The CITROËN C1 Swiss & Me concept car underscores the spirit of the new CITROËN C1, an everyday companion with a resourceful and irreverent approach to the urban jungle.
