Citro"en Wild Rubis headed for Asian production

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

Crossovers are becoming increasingly vital to automakers' bottom lines, and these days, not even Citroën can ignore their prevalence in certain markets. The French automaker offers the C4 Aircross and C-Crosser in Europe – both based on Mitsubishi architecture – but will soon roll out a larger crossover specifically for the Far East.

The production model was previewed by the Wild Rubis concept which Citroën showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show this past April, although the final version will be less radical. Tipped to be called DS7 or DSX7, the production version of the Wild Rubis will join the brand's DS line of premium offerings and will be manufactured in Shenzhen through parent company PSA's joint venture with Changan Automobile Group that already produces the DS5 for local markets.
