Chevrolet Sail 3 Entry-Level Family Car
Since its introduction 15 years ago, the Sail has been a driving force in the entry-level family car segment. Nearly 1.4 million Sails have been sold across China. The third-generation Chevrolet Sail, named the Sail 3, will take the nameplate and the segment to a new level when it goes on sale nationwide by the end of this year.
Built on Shanghai GM's new-generation small car architecture, the Sail 3 has adopted Chevrolet's new design language. It has a sculpted yet slim exterior with a youthful, dynamic feel. The Sail 3's Chevrolet-signature dual-port grille is wider and sportier than in previous models. Eagle eye-shaped headlights add to the striking appearance. Dual-C-element taillights provide an enticing and distinctive touch to the rear.
The Sail 3 is 51 mm longer and 45 mm wider than its predecessor. In addition, its wheelbase has been extended 35 mm, providing an even roomier cabin. With 366 liters of trunk space and an array of user-friendly storage compartments, the new model will meet everyday driving needs.
Inside, the Sail 3 has a dual-cockpit design – another Chevrolet signature. It also has an innovative flowing instrument panel that puts controls within easy reach, a dual-mode sunroof and sculpted seats with exquisite craftsmanship.
The Sail 3's new 1.5L DVVT and 1.3L VVT engines are matched with a choice of a manual or mechanical automatic transmission with start-stop function. The powertrains deliver a significant improvement in power compared with the powertrains in earlier models while reducing combined fuel consumption to as low as 5.3 L/100 km.
As a result, the Sail 3 has been listed in the National Energy-Saving and Eco-Friendly Vehicle Catalogue ahead of its market launch. All variants will be entitled to an energy-saving subsidy of RMB 3,000.
