2015 Ford Mustang Convertible caught topless

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

The first snowflakes of the season are falling in the Detroit area, but Ford engineers are busy testing out the convertible version of 2015 Mustang. With the amount of camouflage Ford has been using to cover up the next-gen Mustang, it's quite possible we've already unknowingly seen the Mustang Convertible out and about, but this is our first clear look of the droptop model. As an added bonus, these spy shots show the Mustang Convertible with its top both up and down.

Even though there is still heavy camouflage – and a guardrail – obscuring the body of this Mustang, the top is completely uncovered. Comparing these spy shots to our gallery of the 2013 Mustang Convertible, it would appear that the windshield frame, side windows and retractable soft top on this 2015 model are fairly similar to what is found on the current convertible. The only other bit of news we can see in these shots is another take on a five-split-spoke wheel design, which is slightly different from the wheels we've seen on past non-SVT Mustang prototypes.

Along with many other details about the 2015 Mustang, we don't know if we'll see the convertible when Ford officially debuts the Mustang in December, or we'll will wait see a little longer to see the topless Mustang – possibly coinciding with the car's official auto show reveal in New York next April.
