Greetings to all, I am placing my 1991 Bentley Mulsanne S up for auction. Interests have changed and I'm changing my collection to reflect  just that. Bentley Motorcars produced the Mulsanne model from 1980 to 1992 as a performance luxury car. There were significant changes from 1989 until the end of production. It lacks the turbocharger of the Turbo R model, but is equipped with the alloy wheels and interior styling of the Turbo R. With electronically controlled suspension, "tuned for more spirited driving" (as indicated on the original window price sticker, $144,100 MSRP) it handles superbly. The ride and handling difference from my Rolls Royce was immediately noticeable.  There was a total production run of 970 of this model, of which 909 were short wheel base models, approximately 75 per year. The body style is that of the Rolls Royce Silver Spirit, as during this time period both were manufactured by Rolls Royce Motorcars, Inc. in Crewe, Cheshire, England. Finished in black with Silverstone grey interior piped same the exterior and interior are in fine condition for a 22 year old motorcar. There are the normal minor scratches and dings associated with age but are hardly noticeable. Interior leather upholstery, facia and capping rails are in fine condition as well. The tires are nearly new and have few miles on them, all four alloys are "curb rash" free. Included in the sale is the original window price sticker, all of the original owners manuals/warranty books/cards, original key and remote entry/alarm fob. All small & large tools are present in the boot. I have serviced the vehicle myself during my period of stewardship and have never had any problems. As with older vehicles, it does have some issues that are minor and in all fairness to you, the potential next steward, I will point them out. First, the gas gauge reads "E" when full and doesn't begin to work until approximately a half tank of petrol has been consumed.  It's been that way since I purchased it (April, 2007) and I've just used the odometer to keep me posted on the tank. (2) There is some delamination happening in the rear window (see photo). (3) There is slight wear to the driver's seat which I understand can be re-dyed as Connolly leather is surface dyed. All other seats are excellent. There are no cracks or rips in any of the seats. (4) The memory seats/mirrors are intermittently operating, I changed the batteries in the ECU's about two years ago but this problem just began.  A close friend and RR/Bentley mechanic offers refurbished ECU's, I will gladly get you in contact with him if you wish. (5) The "brake pressure" light  blinks momentarily as the brakes are applied, I believe because approximately 1,000 miles ago I replaced the rear gas spring accumulators and may not have properly bled the system. Perhaps a re-bleed will eliminate this problem. There is no brake issue, the motorcar stops as it should. (6) There is a slight leak in the rack & pinion unit, I've always just kept it topped up with the correct fluid. and finally, the vehicle does come with a set of lambs wool floor mats which probably should be professionally cleaned and re-dyed if you wished.

I'm sure you'll be happy with this motorcar, It turns heads wherever it goes and will provide you with hours of motoring pleasure. The best part.....you can enjoy this vehicle for a small investment. Please ask questions before bidding as your bids are legally binding. I would request a $500 non-refundable deposit within 3 days of the close of the auction and the clear NYS title (mileage exempt, vehicles over 10 years of age)will be delivered upon payment of the balance in full. Shipping of course, is to be arranged for and paid by the buyer.

Bentley doubles down on diesels with a triple-charged Bentayga

Wed, Sep 21 2016

Volkswagen Group isn't totally giving up on diesels. While its flagship VW brand is clearly tarnished, the ultra-luxury Bentley division just revealed plans for its first oil-burner, a triple-charged 4.0-liter V8 that produces 429 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. If the powertrain sounds familiar, that's because it's the same one found in the Audi SQ7 TDI. It's a clever system capable of giving what Bentley claims as the world's fastest diesel SUV a top speed of 168 miles per hour and a zero-to-62 mph time of 4.8 seconds. The SQ7 TDI can get to 62 mph in the same time, but is electronically limited to 155 mph, because it wouldn't make sense if the cheaper SUV could outperform the much more expensive one. The Bentayga also emits the lowest CO2 output of any Bentley and has a range of over 621 miles on one tank. Despite having a curb weight of 5,269 pounds, Bentley claims the Bentayga can get a combined rating of 35.8 mpg on the European cycle. The Bentayga Diesel may not be as powerful or as fast as the W12-powered model, but it's a lot more fuel efficient as the latter achieves a combined rating of 21.6 mpg on the European cycle. Other than the new engine, the Bentayga diesel is nearly identical to its gasoline-powered twin except for some discreet "V8 Diesel" badges on the front doors, a new exhaust outlet design, and a black grille. A Bentley spokesperson confirmed that the Bentayga diesel would not be sold in the US. And since Bentley won't be at this year's Paris Motor Show, don't get your hopes up on spotting the vehicle there. The diesel-powered SUV will go on sale in Europe early next year, which will be followed by its release in Russia, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan. Pricing for the SUV has not been announced yet. 2015 Bentley Mulsanne Speed unleashes a tidal wave of torque

Tue, 16 Sep 2014

811 lb-ft of torque puts the Mulsanne Speed out ahead of every so-called muscle car on the market and eclipses most million-dollar hypercars.
Those in the market for a sedan with equal levels of performance and luxury would do well to stop by their local Bentley dealership, and have a look at the Flying Spur. Though not available in Speed trim like the previous four-door Continental, the W12 model already packs the 616-horsepower 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 from the Continental GT Speed - and we wouldn't be surprised to see the British automaker come out with an even more performance-oriented version in the future. But what about the Mulsanne?

Number 1 Edition Bentley convertible has ties to 1929 racer

Thu, Jun 27 2019

Bentley has created a limited-edition Continental GT Convertible to further commemorate its centenary. The Number 1 Edition by Mulliner is done in the style of the 1929 Bentley Blower Number 1, a legendary racing car from the days when the company was just a decade old. The original 4 1/2 -liter car set an average speed record of 137 mph at Brooklands in 1932. The Number 1 Edition is car three out of three centenary editions, the earlier models being the Mulsanne W.O. Edition and the Continental GT Number 1 Edition. As well as featuring other special touches only seen on the 100 units built, each Number 1 Edition also has a direct memento from the original 1929 car: a display piece built into the dashboard, housing a small wheel spinner that has been cast from an original piston of the Number 1, sacrificed during restoration work. The dashboard trim is done in "Engine Spin"-style turned aluminum; the engine is the 6.0-liter W12. Bentley offers the Number 1 Edition cars in either Dragon Red II or Beluga exterior paint, and the interior can be specified in either Cricket Ball or Beluga color. The cars have Bentley's Black Line specification combined with a Carbon Body Kit, and the Centenary Specification pack that comes with special badging and illumination. The front grille with its large painted-on number is specific to the Number 1, the fenders have 18 carat gold badging, and the 22-inch wheels can be had in either a Cricket Ball or Gloss Black finish.
