2014 Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible

There are few things in this world I enjoy more than an enthusiastic drive down tree-lined backroads on a warm summer evening. If you're familiar with the geographic location of Detroit, you won't be shocked to learn that we don't have the sort of very-involving roads found all throughout California and other gorgeous parts of the country, but we still have some stretches of pavement that can be pretty darn fun when driven in the right car. The vast majority of our scenic roads, however, are of a more relaxed nature. And that's why, despite my tendency to prefer high-strung hot hatches above all, I will never say no to a big, fast convertible during the warm season.
As far as said big, fast convertibles go, perhaps none is more exquisite than the 2014 Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible, pictured here in the striking shade of St. James Red. Not long after returning from my trip across the pond to drive Bentley's V8-powered Flying Spur sedan, I was given the chance to sample another one of its eight-cylinder wares, this one carrying less heft, offering a smidge more power, and, oh yeah, a roof that neatly stows behind the rear seats.
As luck would have it, the weather for my Conti weekend was the absolute definition of perfection. And so I took to those sweeping, tree-lined roads way outside of Detroit to see how this Bentley's "S" badge improves upon the lovely GT V8 Convertible I drove last year. Hard work, but somebody's gotta do it.

Bentley Flying Spur breaches in Beluga spec

Bentley did what it could to improve the styling on the Flying Spur, but if you're still of the impression that it's still a bit of a whale in its form, you may want to check out the new Beluga Specification. Available now to order on the eight-cylinder Flying Spur worldwide, the Beluga Specification features a number of upgrades designed to make Crewe's sedan look and feel more "athletic" inside and out. A unique set of 20-inch wheels and a gloss black grille distinguish the exterior, while the cabin is treated to piano black veneer, knurled shift paddles, contrast stitching, and finer carpets. Those looking to splurge (this is a Bentley, after all) can combine this package with the Mulliner Driving Specification and get 21-inch wheels along with other interior upgrades. Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 coming, but not before hotter CUV

Bentley appears closer than ever to giving the green light for production to the curvaceous EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, but expect to see a hotter, more stylish crossover before the coupe arrives in showrooms. During the Bentayga launch, company CEO Wolfgang Durheimer hinted that both models would be perfect additions to the luxury brand's lineup, according to Car and Driver. The EXP 10 Speed 6's shapely design received glowing reviews when Bentley unveiled it at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and customers prodded the automaker to manufacture the coupe. "We want to build on this and make it a reality," Durheimer told Car and Driver about the positive buzz, but the boss said he couldn't put a production date on the two-seater yet. Durheimer has made positive statements about the EXP 10 Speed 6's production chances before, but it might be 2020 before the coupe goes on sale because the company's board still needs to approve the model. Rumors suggest the possibility of an electric version with 400 to 500 horsepower from tech similar to the Porsche Mission E concept and a more traditional variant with a 600-hp twin-turbo V8. In the nearer term, we could get the first look at Bentley's high-performance crossover as a concept at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March, according to Auto Express. The model allegedly shares the Bentayga's platform but features a revised body with an arching, coupe-like roofline. The company would also add more power to the twin-turbo W12 to match the exterior's more aggressive look. Related Video:
