Bentley debating production of either Speed 6 or smaller SUV

A fifth model is coming to the Bentley range, and after the EXP10 Speed 6 concept dropped jaws and a whole lot more at this year's Geneva Motor Show, observers expected the luscious green coupe to get the go-ahead. Yet, since January, Bentley has publicly mulled a new SUV smaller than the coming Bentayga that would "to attract more women and younger buyers to the brand." Now, the firm's marketing director is in the midst of a global research to work up a business case for each model that will decide the matter. The growth of the SUV market and the success of more affordable models forces Bentley to consider the potential money stacks provided by an even more price-friendly entry. The SUV is helped by the fact that it could be built on the same MSB platform that would support a production version of the EXP10 Speed 6. It looks like this is another cage match between heart and incontrovertible business case, yet a nod to the SUV wouldn't necessarily kill the Speed 6, only delay it. The investment for a fifth model begins after the Bentayga goes on sale at the end of this year, with 2020 or 2021 suggested as the production date for whichever new model comes next. There's no reason the Speed 6 couldn't come after that, even though we - and a bunch of potential customers - know the model we'd choose to build right now. According to Autocar, it might take up to two years for a decision. And either model will be draining enough of the company's time, talent, and resources as to mitigate a super-high-performance Continental variant, as we reported earlier. Xcar spots the differences of refreshed Bentley Continental GT

Bentley unfurled the details about the refresh of its second-generation Continental GT earlier this year and gave the high-speed cruiser an official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show. Even with the tweaks, the British brand kept its most popular model very refined, though. If you're still having a problem spotting all the differences for this posh coupe, Xcar is here to help with an informative new video. Rather than putting the focus exclusively on driving impressions, Xcar really leans heavily into listing the specific updates for the latest Conti GT. Beyond the updated front end, likely the most obvious change for the refreshed model are the big, B-shaped pieces of chrome trim around the side vents. If not obvious already, they make it exceedingly clear that this is a Bentley. A neat touch is the nip and tuck at the rear to create a spoiler on the trunk lid, which does a great job of communicating the intent of the company's sporty model. Xcar ranks the Continental GT as Britain's best grand tourer, although this video doesn't really explain why in much detail. Bentley to call its upcoming crossover Bentayga?

Development of Bentley's forthcoming utility vehicle is almost complete, and the British automaker has painted a vivid picture of what to expect: otherworldly luxurious, a range of powertrains including a twelve-pot and a hybrid, and a price tag that is sure to eclipse any other SUV or crossover on the market. One of the biggest questions still remaining, however, is what Bentley will call the thing, but we might have our answer right here. According to Autovisie (the car section of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf), Bentley has registered the name Bentayga – taken from a rock formation on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, that Spanish archipelago off the coast of Morocco. The concept was originally showcased as the EXP 9 F. Though that handle was never expected to make it to production, the F supposedly stood for Falcon, leading to speculation that the final version would carry that name. But if the trademark application is anything to go by, we could be looking in the end at the Bentley Bentayga.
