Bentley Bentayga by Mulliner is a one-off special edition with ties to horse racing

Not long ago, we featured the Bentley Bentayga Field Sports by Mulliner, Bentley's even more lavish companion that often adds a special touch to production Bentleys; earlier on, there was even a version aimed at falconers. Here's another one-off Bentayga special edition that looks just as ostentatious, simply called the Bentayga by Mulliner. Bentley says this Mulliner version has been inspired by horse racing, and it's been created to commemorate Bentley's partnership with racetrack operator The Jockey Club at the Cheltenham Festival. It has to be said, the Bentayga looks far better by itself than towing a horse box on the highway. The paintwork is a variation on British Racing Green, on this occasion called Spruce, and the cabin has been finished with a combination of saddle-colored leather on the seats and special tweed on the doors. The veneer is burr walnut, treated to resemble woodwork at The Jockey Club's private rooms, and branded Mulliner. As well as Cheltenham Racecourse, The Jockey Club operates 14 other horse racing venues in the UK, and it was founded all the way back in 1750. The 21" wheels on the Bentayga by Mulliner are the same, partially black ones that were fitted on the Field Sports. 2019 Bentley Continental GT breaks Pikes Peak production car record

Bentley has made good on its promise to capture the production car record at Pikes Peak this past weekend. Pikes Peak expert Rhys Millen took a stock 2019 Bentley Continental GT (save for mandatory safety equipment) up the roughly 12-and-a-half-mile route in a time of 10:18.488 and an average speed of 70 mph. The final time was an impressive 8.4 seconds ahead of the previous record. That previous record holder was a stock 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S driven by David Donner. That car's twin-turbo flat-6 made "just" 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque to the Bentley twin-turbo W12's 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Of course the Bentley is much heavier, which would be evident in a straight drag race, as the Porsche had a claimed 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds to the Bentley's 3.6. We're interested to see if other manufacturers will start heading to Pikes Peak in search of production class glory. In the meantime, Bentley can relish in owning not one, but two production car record times. It set the production SUV record last year with a Bentayga. The Bentayga was a little over 30 seconds slower than the Continental GT with a time of 10:49.9. Bentley set the record on Sunday, June 30, the same day that Carlin Dunne was killed in a crash while attempting to set a different record aboard a Ducati Streetfighter V4 prototype. Bentley to unveil zero-emissions EXP 100 GT on July 10

Some people take part in excessive celebrations with a birthday week. Bentley went the extra mile and has been celebrating a full all-out birthday year, with a variety of special-edition models and events. The British manufacturer has been milking its centenary leading up to July 10, 2019, when it will unveil the EXP 100 GT, a zero-emissions autonomous car that Bentley bills as "the future of grand touring."  During the past year, Bentley has released Centenary Specifications for all of its models, a $250,000 book, the Continental GT Convertible No. 1 Edition by Mulliner, a Bentley Continental GT No. 9 Edition, and a Mulsanne W.O. Edition, all in honor of 100 years of the company. These special products have created a build-up toward one of Bentley's biggest launches ever in the EXP 100 GT.  The EXP 100 GT is expected to be Bentley's first electric car, but the EXP nomenclature indicates it will only be a concept, for now. It will also be autonomous, as the ultimate level of grand touring is supposedly having the choice to drive or be driven.  Bentley says it will be "a physical embodiment of the future brand," and will "set the new benchmark for luxury craftsmanship." This will be accomplished with "a fascinating array of materials," all of which are handcrafted to Bentley's over-the-top standards.  The unveiling event will be livestreamed on BentleyMedia.com, or enthusiasts can register for the event on a microsite called Extraordinary Journeys. The sheet is expected to be pulled at 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday, July 10.
