Improvements:
APR Stage 1 computer (ECU) mod boosted HP to approximately 259hp with 93 octane fuel
Hi flow Intake modification (APR done at Imola motorsports here in Minnesota)
K and N air filter (lifetime- high flow)
18" aftermarket wheels

Car has APR stage 1 ECU modification, which was installed by Imola Motorsports in 2013. This reliable mod delivers about 12% more peak power, but most importantly has a dramatic effect on increased low-end power. See photo for dyno chart.

This car is a treat to drive, probably the best handling car we have ever driven. We are only selling this amazing vehicle because my wife has a long term knee injury and can no longer drive a clutch.

Only 2 weaknesses:
1: front grill insert was damaged by storage building owner during winter storage last year. He repaired the piece himself, so its not perfect. Aftermarket inserts are $80 here on ebay.
2: tires will need replacing soon. enough tread for safety, but getting down there.

BMW says SUVs killed the sports car market

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

In many ways, we're living in a golden age of automotive performance. After all, it's possible to show up at a Dodge dealer, hand over about $60,000 and storm away with a 707-horsepower Challenger Hellcat. Or for those who prefer a touch more luxury, the BMW M4, Mercedes-AMG C63 and latest Cadillac ATS-V offer between 425 and 503 horsepower, depending on your pick, with a bit more poshness. However, none of these powerful vehicles fit the classic definition of a two-place, droptop sports car, and according BMW head of sales Ian Robertson, that's because the segment is very much in the doldrums.
According to Robertson, two factors seriously wounded the classic sports car market. First, the global economic crisis of a few years ago put a serious hurt on sales, according to Bloomberg. Further worsening the situation, the boom in popularity of luxury SUVs and crossovers in the past few years hasn't allowed for much recovery. Even car-hungry China hasn't helped much because of the smog in many cities and preference among some of the very rich there to be chauffeured.
Combined, Audi TT, BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz SLK sales peaked around 114,000 units a year in 2007, but they are only expected to reach 72,000 annually by the end of the decade. Robertson is pretty pessimistic about the market's comeback too. "Post-2008, it just collapsed. I'm not so sure it'll ever fully recover," he said to Bloomberg.

Spyker C8 Aileron to come back with supercharged power?

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

The new B6 Venator wasn't the only vehicle on display at the Spyker booth at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The company still has its C8 Aileron on offer, and Road & Track has word of a potential powerplant upgrade for the long-running machine.
Since its introduction in the year 2000, the C8 has used a 4.2-liter V8 engine sourced from Audi, which, in base form, offers up 400 horsepower. Though it's a great powerpant, that's simply not enough power in this day and age - after all, if a car is going to be called super, it needs to offer more ponies than something as mundane as the Ford Mustang GT.
According to R&T, John Walton, Chief Commercial Officer at Spyker, indicated that a new engine supplier may be in the works. "[The Audi-sourced V8] really hasn't got enough bang for the buck. To be honest, every supercar needs to have something that begins with a '5' today. That's why we're supercharging the car in the future, which will take it to over 500-hp," said Walton.
