We're the original owners of this 2002 Audi S6 Avant.  I purchased this car for my wife the year our daughter was born and it's been her kid transporter for the past 12 years.  The only notable event in the car's history was a minor accident (doesn't even show up on Autocheck)  several years ago where the passenger front quarter panel was damaged (no other damage).  It was cosmetic only and the panel was replaced with an OEM aluminum front quarter panel by a top quality shop and you'd never know it happened.  The car has never been smoked in and has never been driven hard or modified in any way.

The vehicle exterior is in pretty good shape considering it's age, the exception being the driver front quarter panel where someone left a nice dent in a parking lot (please see pic)...  a paint-less dent repair person could probably improve the look quite a bit since the paint isn't chipped or cracked.  There are some scratches on the rear bumper (inevitable in all the school parking lots) and a couple of minor door dings.  I tried to capture the flaws in pics as best I could.  This S6 has been garaged all its life so the paint looks great.

The interior shows very typical wear on the rubber surfaces (around the headlight switch and the hvac buttons) but everything works as it should including heated seats, 6-disc cd changer, a/c, power seats, sunroof, power windows, central locks, etc. with the only exception being the navigation (one of the kids stepped on the controller when they were smaller)... it could be fixed quite easily by replacing the console controller but it's such an archaic system my wife didn't use it anyway (still have all the navigation discs though).  The leather is in very good condition with no rips or tears or excessive wear (treated regularly with a good quality conditioner).

Mechanically the car is in excellent condition.  All service has been done at Danbury Audi for the past 7 years or so since we moved to CT and no expense was spared.  All 4 rotors and pads were replaced (as well as some suspension bushings) within the past year and the radiator was replaced a few months ago due to a slow leak.  Other items that have been replaced recently due to age include the oil cooler and pipe, the coolant expansion tank, turn signal stalk, engine air filter, cabin pollen filter, coolant temperature sensor and thermostat.  Major service was done on time (belts/water pump).  Continental tires have good tread remaining.  New battery last fall.  Engine is strong and transmission shifts as smoothly as it did 12 years ago.

Includes both keys and original books and even the window sticker.  Happy to send specific high res pics on request.

Formula E is on track financially, with NYC race coming up

Tue, Jul 4 2017

LONDON - Formula E could be breaking even already were it not investing for the future, chief executive Alejandro Agag said on Monday after the electric motor racing series reported continuing losses in its latest annual accounts. Accounts filed at Companies House showed Formula E Operations Ltd reduced its operating loss to 33.7 million euros ($38.32 million) at end-July 2016, a period covering its second season, from a previous 62.7 million. Net liabilities rose to 107.2 million euros from 72.1 million, while total revenues reached 56.6 million from a previous 19.7 million. "Everything is going according to plan," Agag, whose city-based series will be racing in New York for the first time on July 15 and 16, told Reuters in an interview at his London offices. "Actually we are doing incredibly well financially according to our plan. "We could have broken even this year but we decided to invest more in marketing and promotion. We decided to add races like the one in New York, which is in year one a race which is costing, we have significant capital expenditure." "It's really up to us when we want to go to break even or not. We could be in break-even now, we could be in break-even next season but we may decide to invest more in marketing and promotion." Agag said the shareholders, including John Malone's Liberty Global and Discovery Communications, were supportive of the strategy and the series had attracted more investors, sponsors and car manufacturers. The New York races will be held in Brooklyn's Red hook neighborhood, with lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty as a backdrop with technology partner Qualcomm securing the naming rights. MANUFACTURER INTEREST Agag, whose series plays down competition with Liberty Media-owned Formula One, said more carmakers were set to join a series increasingly aligned with their commercial focus. "I think Formula E has become the preferred destination for manufacturers and there are a few reasons for that," said the Spaniard. "Obviously, one is that it is electric and manufacturers are more and more focusing on electric cars...and we are the only platform really to help them promote that technology and those types of cars. "And second, because of the cost. The cost of the team in Formula E is very moderate." Whereas top Formula One teams can burn through $300 million a year, as can the likes of Toyota in the World Endurance Championship, the budgets of successful Formula E teams are between 10 and 15 million.

Audi unveils its Doberhuahua Super Bowl commercial

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

With Super Bowl Sunday less than a week away, this week is going to be dominated by anything and everything football related. That includes advertising and the auto industry, as some of the biggest players prepare to launch multi-million-dollar spots hawking their latest and greatest products.
A veteran of Super Bowl ads, Audi's history has been rather checkered, ranging from controversial to funny to Jason Statham. We aren't entirely sure where to place this year's ad. The German brand has released a pair of teaser videos on the so-called Doberhuahua, a crossbreed of a Doberman Pinscher and a Chihuahua. Now, we have the full spot.
We get the message Audi is going for - compromise is bad - but delivering it via a slobbery, mutant dog strikes us as trying a bit too hard to be funny. Take a look below and let us know what you think of the Audi's Doberhuahua spot. And of course, you'll be able to see the new ad come Sunday, when it airs during the Super Bowl.

Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).
