1995.5 Audi S6. Tornado Red with Black interior. This car is in amazing shape.
Mileage: 250K Exterior: Tornado Red exterior. Front bumper freshly repainted and has ZERO cracks. Paint is easily a 9 out of 10. There are some stone chips on the leading edge of the hood, but otherwise paint is in great shape. Lighting: European headlights with Hella clear corners. Interior: Overall this is in great shape for the age. Driver's seat has a small hole in bolster, but otherwise the rest of the seats are in great shape. I can help source a new driver's front seat if interested. Small issues: Sunroof does not open. Motor functions, but roof does not move . However, a known good/fully functioning assembly (from a parts car) is included in the sale. Headliner has a small sag in the back, but otherwise is in great shape. Engine: Motor was replaced at 248k miles due to a blown HG with another lower mileage motor. Current motor has approximately 182,xxx miles on it (had 180,xxx when installed in car). Turbo has no play, motor does not burn oil, and compression is in spec. When motor was replaced, all oil seals were replaced as were all coolant hoses and coolant reservoir. Fuel rail hoses were rebuilt and injectors were serviced. New motor mounts were also installed along w/ an upgraded poly snub mount. Car also has the UrS4 metal cross over pipe and all metal intercooler, in addition to a SAMCO lower boost hose. Also, N75 and BPV were recently replaced as well with OEM. Tuning/Ignition: Car has a TAP1 chip installed in the ECU and has a 1.8BAR WG Spring installed as well. OEM coils have been converted to 1.8T coil on plug. We have had zero issues with this setup, and car will hit 18-20psi without breaking a sweat. It is definately fast! Trans/Rear diff: New OEM clutch was installed when motor was replaced along w/ a resurfaced flywheel and new hardware. Rear diff was replaced with a Torsen rear diff from an Audi V8 as well, and new center carrier bearing was installed on driveshaft. All rear diff mounts/trans mounts were replaced within 7k miles with OEM components Brakes: BOMB has been deleted from car and VAC Assist brakes were installed. This substantially improved the brake feel and function relative to the BOMB setup. G60 Front brakes were upgraded to B5 A4 calipers w/ TT carriers and euro A6 rotors (312mm). This is a vast improvement over the original 276mm rotors. Steering: P/S rack has been replaced w/ a Jorgen rebuilt unit w/in 2k miles, including all new tie rod assemblies, all new hoses (high pressure and low pressure), and a new P/S pump from a 1996 A6 within the last 500 miles. An aftermarket cooler was also installed to replace the OEM trombone cooler. Suspension: Car is riding on Bilstein Sport shocks and Eibach springs. All bushings/control arms front and rear were replaced within the past 7k miles. Car handles amazingly, and needs nothing. Wheels: Car is currently sitting on RS4 rep wheels and has another RS4 rep as a spare. It can also come with a set of 5 UrS FUCHs. If full asking price is received, both sets of wheels will be included in sale. Overall this is an absolutely fantastic car for the money. It has been a great car to own, and is an amazing highway cruiser -- yet nimble enough to cause a few evil grins to form when carving the twisty back roads. It has been a great experience owning it, but it's time to say farewell as it's not getting enough use to warrant keeping it around anymore. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to arrange a test drive. Please no tire kickers. |

2016 Audi S6
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Minutes after spending time in the refreshed 2016 Audi A6 in Germany, we were tossed the keys to its enthusiast-tuned sibling, the Audi S6. In similar manner to its lesser brethren, the S6 has also been updated for the 2016 model year with a new look, a boost in power and additional technology.
Its aggressive demeanor is heralded by a redesigned signature single-frame grille, resculpted bumpers (front and rear) and new lights on both ends - the Matrix LED headlamps fitted to our European test car are impressive, but the US DOT has ensure that we won't see them (pun intended) for now. The cabin appointments have gone even further upscale, and the enhanced MMI infotainment system now runs more fluidly thanks to a faster NVIDIA graphics chip. The primary instrument cluster, facing the operator, has been redesigned to offer its own duplicate display to ease the driver's workload.
Under the hood, the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter TFSI V8 is bumped to 450 horsepower (a gain of 30), while torque remains the same at 406 pound-feet. The standard gearbox is Audi's seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch unit, sending power to all four wheels through the automaker's rear-biased Quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system.
Volkswagen decides to keep Lamborghini and Ducati, transfers Bentley to Audi
Tue, Dec 15 2020Investors in the market for a high-end Italian manufacturer that peddles performance will need to keep looking. Volkswagen announced it will hang on to Lamborghini and Ducati in the foreseeable future. Executives in Wolfsburg, Germany, are making far-reaching changes to the Volkswagen Group to reboot it with a big focus on technology. Credible rumors claimed that the people in charge of the carmaker wanted to carve out Lamborghini — which owns Ducati — and ultimately list it, or at least a chunk of it, on the stock market in order to fast-track the group's electrification strategy. Going electric is expensive, so selling Lamborghini would have helped fund the expansion, and high-octane supercars don't easily go hand-in-hand with zero-emissions cars. "Volkswagen needs to change from a collection of valuable brands and fascinating combustion-engine products that thrill customers with superb engineering to a digital company that reliably operates millions of mobility devices worldwide," summed up Herbert Diess, the group's boss, during a September 2020 meeting. His team ultimately decided not to fully divest both brands. It's too early to tell whether part of Lamborghini will be listed on the stock market, as some insiders have suggested, or if those plans are off the table, too. Changes are coming to Bentley as well. While it's not being spun off either, it will fall under the Audi umbrella starting on March 1, 2021. Volkswagen explained linking the two companies will "allow for synergies to be achieved as part of the electrification strategy of the two premium brands," a statement which suggests they will share a growing number of components during the 2020s. Unverified rumors claim that Bentley will notably get its own version of an ultra-luxurious electric SUV code-named Landjet that Audi is currently developing. We've reached out to Bentley for more details, and we'll update this story if we learn more. Bugatti's future wasn't mentioned in the release; unconfirmed reports suggest it will be traded for a stake in Croatian start-up Rimac. Volkswagen's supervisory board also reaffirmed its support for Diess, who was appointed CEO in 2018 and who has played a significant role in the company's transformation. Finally, the board approved the development of what a statement refers to a future leading electric vehicle sold by the Volkswagen brand that will be developed and manufactured in Wolfsburg.
Audi pushing DOT to allow its sequential LED turn signals [w/videos]
Mon, 30 Sep 2013Still in the process of trying to get its trick LED Matrix Beam headlights legalized in the US, Audi is now trying to get its front and rear sequential LED turn signals approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Just like its auto-dimming headlights, the sequentially illuminating turn signals don't meet NHTSA's Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108.
The problem, according to Automotive News, is that the individual lighting elements are too small to meet current US safety regulations. The rule states that each lamp should be 22 square centimeters (8.6 square inches) and the whole lighted combined area must be 50 square centimeters (19.6 square inches). In the individual sequence, Audi's lights are much smaller than that. As for the Ford Mustang, which has had sequential turn signals since 2010, this system is legal since the first lens is large enough to meet the required size, so the other two lights really aren't even necessary.
It sounds like it could be some time before we see these turn signals on Audis in the US, which is a shame because in addition to their styling bebefuts, we think they're more effective at signaling the vehicle's intended direction of travel, and they do a better job of grabbing the eye. Scroll down to watch a pair of videos showing the headlights in action on the redesigned A8/S8 as well as the recently updated R8.
