2012 Audi S4- Rebuilt Title, Priced To Sell! on 2040-cars
Dublin, Ohio, United States
For more details, please do not hesitate to call me at 419-701-4730. This vehicle was purchased by me in November of 2013. The vehicle was involved in a flood, and water came up to under the seats; damaging a lot of the electrical components, locking the seat in place, etc. The vehicle, when shipped to me from Florida, was completely drivable, albeit for the driver's seat locked in the "all the way back" position. I purchased and replaced the driver's seat, and have been driving the car since. The car really is fantastic. I ended up purchasing a new set of wheels/tires for the winter, which will also be included. The wheels are from TireRack. I cannot link them directly, but they are: 18x8 Black Painted MSW Type 19 and the tires themselves are Blizzak WS70s. The wheels/tires are obviously very new, and cost ~1200$ last December. The following items are still in need of replacement/repair/troubleshooting. The parts themselves are typically not expensive (the most expensive being the passenger seat, at ~500 online) 1) Passenger seat. The seat is about 1/2 way back currently, allowing for passengers to sit comfortably, assuming they're not too tall. My wife sits in it fine, and she's 5'6". The seat will need removed, wiring under the seat cleaned up, and new seat installed. 2) Electrical system troubleshooting: Currently, only the driver's side window works. Further electrical troubleshooting would be needed to get the other windows functional. 3) MMI is currently non functional. The amp in the trunk was damaged in the flood, and replaced. However, the MMI controls themselves are all dark; my assumption is they got wet in the flood. The screen is high up enough to have been spared in the flood, but the MMI controls/associated electrical components may have been hit. 4) Passenger side seat belt. The seat belt itself is fine, but the retraction mechanism got wet, and now it no longer wants to retract. I have purchased a replacement seat belt unit, and will be including it in the car. 5) There is a CEL related to misfire on Cylinder 5; in researching it, there looks to be an Audi-ECU flash that fixes the problem in 2012 model year vehicles. However, due to no warranty, I cannot get the flash, at least for free. My original, long term plan was to purchase GoAPR's ECU tune for the car, but for right now the CEL is active. 6) Parking Brake Light: This is related to the "Parking Brake ECU" that is located under the passenger's seat, and/or the parking brake switch/button on the center console. 7) TPMS alert: This is related to the fact I swapped out wheels/tires during the winter, and was unable to reset the TPMS via the non-functional MMI. TPMS in these cars is sensor-less, so there are no sensors in the rims themselves, they just need to be reset in the MMI. 8) Airbag light: This is related to the airbag sensors in the passenger seat. One thing I will stress is the unknown; these are what I know is wrong with the vehicle. Being a flood/salvage/rebuilt title car, I hold no responsibility to what else might be damaged, or needing repair. I've been daily-driving the car for the last several months, and I see no issues outside of what's been noted, but the "Buyer Beware" should be obvious. I will be happy to share any and all information I have; just give me a call and I can go over what's-what with the car. As for financing the vehicle, from my experience anyway, I had no issue getting a used car loan for it. That said, I am paying off the lien with this sale, and will obviously process and ship out the title ASAP. Please do your due diligence if you plan to finance it; for me, I simply did one of the "check ready" car loans from PNC, and they never even asked/cared about the Rebuilt Title. Geico, likewise, made no note of it. The vehicle is priced well under the KBB value, so loans should be fairly flexible, if you decide to go that route. The original seller's remarks on the car are here. Obviously the mileage has changed. The vehicle was sold from a dealer who purchased it in auction, so he was not the original owner of the vehicle. Ferdinand Piech (1937-2019): The man who made VW global
Tue, Aug 27 2019Towering among his peers, a giant of the auto industry died Sunday night in Rosenheim/Upper Bavaria, Germany. Ferdinand Piech, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who conceived the original Volkswagen in the 1930s, was the most polarizing automotive executive of our times. And one who brought automotive technology further than anyone else. Ferdinand Porsche had a son, Ferdinand (called "Ferry"), and a daughter, Louise, who married the Viennese lawyer Anton Piech. They gave birth to Ferdinand Piech, and his proximity to two Alfa Romeo sports cars — Porsche had done some work for the Italians — and the "Berlin-Rome-Berlin" race car, developed by Porsche himself, gave birth to Piech's interest in cars. After his teachers in Salzburg told his mother he was "too stupid" to attend school there, Piech, who was open about his dyslexia, was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland. He subsequently moved on to Porsche, where he fixed issues with the 904 race car and did major work on the 911. But his greatest project was the Le Mans-winning 917 race car, developed at breathtaking financial cost. It annihilated the competition, but the family had had enough: Amid growing tension among the four cousins working at Porsche and Piech's uncle Ferry, the family decided to pull every family member, except for Ferry, out of their management positions. Piech started his own consultancy business, where he designed the famous five-cylinder diesel for Mercedes-Benz, but quickly moved on to Audi, first as an engineer and then as CEO, where he set out to transform the dull brand into a technology leader. Piech killed the Wankel engine and hammered out a number of ambitious and sophisticated technologies. Among them: The five-cylinder gasoline engine; Quattro all-wheel drive and Audi's fantastic rally successes; and turbocharging, developed with Fritz Indra, whom Piech recruited from Alpina. The Audi 100/200/5000 became the world's fastest production sedan, thanks to their superior aerodynamics. Piech also launched zinc-coated bodies for longevity — and gave diesel technology a decisive boost with the advent of the fast and ultra-efficient TDI engines. Less known: Piech also decided to put larger gas tanks into cars. Customers loved it. Piech's first-generation Audi V8 was met with derision by competitors; it was too obviously based on the 200/5000.
Audi previews sleek crossover concept ahead of Beijing debut
Tue, 08 Apr 2014With the Beijing Motor Show approaching just a couple of weeks down the road, automakers have begun announcing the concept cars they have in store. Nissan has a new sedan concept coming, Lexus will reveal the production NX crossover and Citroën has a tempting sports sedan concept lined up for the Chinese auto expo. And now Audi has hinted at what it has in store.
Revealing only a trio of renderings with no details to accompany them so far, Audi appears to have a new crossover concept in the works. Referred to only as the Audi Showcar Beijing 2014, the brief calls for a five-door crossover with a rather coupe-like roofline, rugged lower body cladding and a flexible cabin with quad bucket seats.
The form bears telltale similarities to the new TT, suggesting that this concept could be a further evolution of the Allroad Shooting Brake concept that Audi revealed in Detroit. If put into production, we could see it wearing the Q4 badge, giving Ingolstadt a rival to the likes of the BMW X4, Porsche Macan and Range Rover Evoque. However, until Audi tells us otherwise, that's all speculation...
Audi S1 nearly ready to rocket euros out of your pocket
Wed, 27 Nov 2013Audi was out testing its upcoming S1 on the streets of Germany when our trusty spy photographers snapped the new, all-wheel-drive hot hatch that's set to succeed the limited-edition A1 Quattro.
Unlike the A1 Quattro, the S1 should sport a much less aggressive look overall. As shown in the spy shots, its wheel wells lack the meaty flairs of its predecessor while its rear wing is much more subdued. The wheels are more in line with what we expect from Audi's S models and its higher ride height is more conducive to common things like steep driveways and speed bumps that the 333-unit A1 Quattro might not encounter.
According to our spies, the S1 should hit the European market with anywhere from 220 to 250 horsepower, making it considerably more potent than competitors like the Ford Fiesta ST or Polo GTI from its parent company, Volkswagen (although it'll likely arrive at a considerably higher price than either of those pocket rockets). On the high end, that's roughly equal to the 252 ponies generated by the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four in the A1 Quattro
